Fire Force Sound Design - Benimaru Shinmon

- Benimaru is one of the most interesting characters in all of Fire Force. Not only because of his hybrid Pyrokinetic ability, but because of his reluctance. He never really wanted to be a leader or Fire Force Company 7. But ever since the incident with Konro, he had been forced into the role. I believe that the sound design helps convey this information while also letting the viewer know just how insanely powerful he is.
In the famous scene (Benimaru vs. Demon) he unleashes Konro’s technique, the Crimson Moon, and absolutely annihilates the Demon Infernal. This was the first big taste of Benimaru’s power we got in Fire Force Season One, in Season Two, we see him take on the Holy Sol Temple Guards, and even they are no match for him. With just a few quick moves, he destroys them all.

A really nice analysis, I just love the sound design of Fire Force so it's nice that you actually take the time to break it down even for specific characters. I won't spoil the new chapters in the Manga, but I think there will be some interesting new sounds in season three that might add a wee bit more to Beni's strength. Can't wait for it!

Honestly, I’m surprised that you didn’t make an episode for Obi’s sound design. He doesn’t have pyro-kinetics, but he had a lot of details to how he sounds in his gear to show just how much power he had behind him when he’s in the field.

Benimaru is my absolute favorite pyrokinetic user in Fire Force. It is his reluctance and whatever-attitude that makes him standout. In the world where every character seems to want to be a hero in their own way, his reluctance to do so is what drawn me in. And he voiced by my fave seiyuu too.
But my favorite captain actually Akitaru. It's really amazing to see him as a captain of a bunch of pyrokinetic user when he is just a normal human.
Just curious, what other anime do you watch? I mean, this days Kimetsu no Yaiba and Jujutsu Kaisen is more popular than Fire Force. There's many CZcamsr that talked about Kimetsu and Jujutsu nowadays, it kinda surprised me the first time I see someone talked in detail about Fire Force..
(I prefer Dr.Stone though)
Yeah, that's what drew me in to Benimaru as well! He was so cool and laid back, haha. Akitaru is great as well!
As for what else I watch, I have seen JJk and KnY, but not Dr. Stone (yet, lol). I actually chose to make videos about Fire Force for that specific reason. Less competition, and more opportunities for people to find my content. I will definitely talk about the others at some point, but I wanted to build a small following before jumping in to those subjects. Plus, I really do love the Sound Design in FF and wanted to show my appreciation. 😁 Hope that makes sense, and thanks for watching!

Good video. However, I believe Benimaru did reach his limit, although without overexerting himself, after using akatsuki. The way he falls feels like "a slight inconvenience" but I don't think he would let Shinra catch him if he wasn't out of power.
Good points! I always assumed that a person's limit was when they began tephrosis, or burning themselves, because they could no longer control the fire. I think Beni being out of juice after having fought this huge battle might be a little different than the maximum output he could achieve with full stamina. Just my thoughts, though! @@DrewMalou Exactly. I see it more as stopping when the tank is empty as opposed to tearing your muscle to push for another rep. Especially in season 2 that hysterical strength where your body acts without safety precautions is a major point of discussion and I can't wait for season 3 to pick it back up.
Beni saw his other forms had no effect so he went straight for Akatsuki before running out of gas (and damaging his body) Then again he IS a prodigy but I like how we can see glimpses to his limit which helps humanize him more.

by any chance do you know the app they use to make the sound effects?
So they are called DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) and there are kind of a lot of options.... Different DAWs have different strengths and weaknesses, so it's usually up to the audio engineer's preference unless the studio mandates working with a specific DAW. I don't know which one Koyama uses, but some of the biggest ones include Apple Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Avid Pro Tools, and Adobe Audition to name a few. I hope that helps!

Slight correction, Arthur and Zenitsu don’t have the same VA. Arthur’s VA is Yusuke Koboyashi while Zenitsu is voiced by Hiro Shimono. But, if you want some hilarious trivia, while Arthur and Zenitsu don’t share a voice, both Arthur and Senku from Dr. Stone have the same VA. Which is funny since Senku is basically human google lol.
I wanted to like Fire Force. I really did. I still listen to that opening religiously. I just felt like every fight after the Shinra faced his brother was so sub-par. And one of their possibly coolest fire ability holders Tamaki is just used for sex appeal/fan service. Never gets a fight to show her why she's even on the team. I feel like all members of the team should get fights like the one showcasing the soft-hearted/timid, but very talented Juggernaut. Way too much exposition, not enough epic or in-depth character development. They keep talking about Adola Link's every episode after it's introduced, but it never feels like they're getting closer to their goal. It all just feels like filler to me. Idk. Maybe I'm not the only one.
You're not the only one! Those are all valid criticisms. I just watched for the sound design, mostly, haha. But I was intrigued with the mystery of the show and the world building, so it was enough for me to overlook the other negative things.
