- New body cam footage from the set of ‘Rust’ has been released and shows Alec Baldwin answering questions from investigators. District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies released the following statement regarding the Rust shooting investigation:
“At this time, the Santa Fe County Sherriff’s Department has turned over a portion of the fatal Rust shooting investigation to the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office. However, the investigation is not complete. The Sheriff’s office is still awaiting essential reports and will not be completing their investigation until those reports have been submitted. The District Attorney’s office must wait until the complete investigation has been turned over by the Sheriff’s Office. Once we receive the completed investigation and conduct a thorough and deliberate review of all evidence, a criminal charging decision will be made.” - Zábava
Send Baldwin to Ukraine so he can teach their army how to fire weapons without pulling the trigger.
“I wonder how it feels to wrongfully kill someone”
-Alec Baldwin
Alec, the producer, has far greater culpability even than as the person who fired the weapon. 1. he did not hire both a designated armorer, and a props person for his production but one young inexperienced person to serve as both; 2 he allowed entire crew to remove the firearm from the set and use with live ammunition for target practice shooting during breaks; 3 the fatal shooting did not even take place during an actual scheduled rehearsal; 4 as producer he also turned down cross draw gun safety training and was not using a rubber gun~both breaches of industry standards~and he is accused of cutting other safety corners and costs.
No bullshit it's not his job to check the guns he didn't hire the armorer he was just a producer they have know hand in hiring the staff that's the movie company

The question should be; how in the hell do live rounds make it to a movie set? And who was the gun going to be pointed at originally before the photographer was shot by mistake. If any civilian like you or I was suspected of manslaughter, we would not receive a handshake and be “requested” to come back to the station for questioning. I don’t understand why celebrities get some kind of special treatment. It doesn’t matter whether or not it was a genuine accident. Manslaughter is manslaughter and it doesn’t matter if you are a homeless person or the president, you should be treated the same.
True but I don’t think he deserves to be treated any less than he was. With so many witness, it’s pretty obvious to us and the police that he didn’t intend to shoot or kill her so they don’t have any reason to treat him disrespectfully. I just think they should treat civilians who are in similar situations, the same.
To bad that's how the world actually works
@@riannalawrence4933 he had the gun he shot the gun. If it was anyone else you would throw the book at him. Especially the anti gun people that love to shrill but since Baldwin is celebrity he’s a protected class of the left gtfoh
It was an accidental shooting on a film set, there was no suspicion of manslaughter, those charges only happen if the investigation warrants them... Alec Baldwin was not hiding under a car or trying to flee to Ghina...
You're commiting a fundamental fallacy here. At that point investigators had no reason whatsoever to believe that there was any intent from Baldwin for this to take place, nor anyone said that he had pulled the trigger and have done so with prejudice or any malice. At that point.
I think it’s highly unlikely he didn’t pull the trigger
Why are they all edited, I wanna see the full video
Now, a gun CAN fire without pulling the trigger because you can have the mechanism fail. However, the footage I saw of his rehearsal did look like he pulled the trigger on one of his takes. So I don't believe him in that claim.
Look, these old guns you don’t have to technically “pull” the trigger. My guess is, when he pulled the gun and yanked the hammer back, the trigger was squeezed already, releasing the hammer. Or, anyone who’s fired these old colts knows, it’s a hair trigger and just doesn’t need to be “pulled” to fire. Watch anyone who’s a trick shooter with old six shooters fan the hammer. Point being is. I think he just didn’t realize he “pulled” the trigger - as you would to engage the hammer of a modern revolver. These weapons you pull the hammer, the trigger also moves and sets into a hair trigger position, and a little tiny movement releases said hammer.
It’s just an argument of semantics, maybe denial on his part, or legitimately not knowing that he pulled the trigger as it really doesn’t take much. Just gripping the weapon once the hammer is engaged is literally all it takes to fire it. I’ve shot with them for years.
What this all boils down to is, just stupid prop and set management. They should of been rehearing with rubber guns. And nobody should of been standing in the path of a firearm. This was absolutely lazy work. You don’t hire firearms master because her daddy was famous. You hire them because they are the best at their job. But in 2020, we don’t even need to use real guns anymore and I don’t know why we still do….
The gun he had has a firing pin block, making if physically impossible for it to go off without the hammer being pulled, even if the cocking mechanism failed the firing pin would be blocked. He pulled the trigger 110% unless he magically defied the physics from inside the gun, it is literally impossible for it to fire without his finger squeezing the trigger. He pointed, and squeezed a trigger on someone without even clearing the firearm, he is completely at fault.
@@CaptainMyCaptain33 preach
@The Dude A revolver can, especially the older models if there was some force applied by dropping it or if the gun itself was struck to the point where it would cause the hammer to set off the round.
@@sportslife5129 It wouldn’t fire on it’s own though. Old SAAs could fire by hitting the hammer hard enough because the firing pin itself was put into the hammer and used to be exposed. This revolver seems to be some kind of SAA repro (Looks like an Italian Pietta 1873) that have new tech to prevent that from happening, these precautions prevents accidental discharges by not having the firing pin exposed and having an internal firing pin.

Guns don't just go off.
I'm guessing it was an old gun used as a prop. Old guns are known to surprise people with the lack of safety. Also how did a real bullet end up in a prop gun?
Everyone asking the same question: "How did live rounds make it on the set?" Just goes to show you that one minute life is good... you're doing great things and minutes later, against literally all odds, thie physical human body dies. We should alwaysa be prepared to leave this side.

This is absurd. You can't delegate your own responsibility to safely handle an inherently dangerous instrument. Inherently dangerous instruments are recognized, legally, as requiring care by the *user* to avoid injury/death. It's not like he didn't know it was a real, functional firearm. He knew it wasn't inert. He had a duty to follow gun handling safety rules.

Just to be clear:
An actor does not have the legal or professional responsibility to have any working knowledge of weapons handling, marksmanship, or gun safety and maintenance. Their job is to perform credibly with a prop gun.
It isn’t your responsibility to check a prop gun if you are an actor - your job (again) is to take the prop gun from the assistant director, (who is the set manager), and rehearse and perform your acting part with it.
The First A.D.’s union job is to clear the gun from the amorist when it’s checked into the safe on set, and clear check it again before handing it to the actor.
Before those two checks, the armorist is responsible for being in possession of the prop gun, cleaning and maintaining it as well as safety checking that it is empty of blanks and personally delivering it to the safe cart on set and signing off with the First A.D.
Alec Baldwin had every right and even a responsibility to rely on the paid professionals and managers to deliver a safe prop gun to him to perform with.
If you don’t agree with this industry wide standard, maybe lobby to get some laws passed to ban film crews from turning real guns into prop guns, but the N.R.A would put out a contract on you for it.
That's all well and good for an actor in his position, except that as the producer, he has responsibilities to maintain a professional and safe set. He was well aware that there were concerns voiced about the careless handling of firearms on his set, and he neglected to take any action. The argument is not that he is somehow at fault because someone handed him a hot weapon, the argument is that he is at fault because he did not maintain a set that followed safety protocols.
@@TryMyMartini Your point is true, but Alec Baldwin, as a superstar and partial funder of the picture would guaranteed never be that kind of “producer”. A line producer, and production manager are responsible in the way you are talking about. Alec Baldwin is much farther up the production “totem pole” in status for those duties. His producer title and role would be the more studio executive type credited as “Executive Producer” and casually referred to as “creative producer”.
Alec Blawin seemed detached from reality, maybe shock but he showed no distress that someone had been shot and possibly killed in front of him. He seems nonchalant. How could he smile about fake blood? Was this a sacrifice ? Something very weird happened on this set and it’s tragic. It also odd he asked to change clothes which is direct evidence of a crime scene.

Then the magazine. In Baldwins particular case, he beleaved (I think) the gun was loaded with blanks. How do you know if you didn't look. If you didn't load the weapon personally, you have no idea what's its loaded with. With any gun, you should check the rounds if there are rounds already in the magazine/cylinder/tube.
