- With another week planned for our trip, Miriam gets a text message about the health of a family member, we point the Can-Am Spyder south and head home.
We end up on the Cross Bronx Expressway in error, navigate the New Jersey Turnpike.

I did the Bronx expressway last year after visiting a sick relative. Never. Ever. Again. I was in a car and not my Spyder and it was bad. Congrats on making it thru unscathed. Prayers for Miriam’s parents.
We felt like we had earned a medal for surviving it!
You never know what life brings to you…so enjoy all the time you have with your love one
Take good care of you !
Hope to see you again one day!
Yes, indeed!
John and Miriam, glad that you arrived home safely and all is well. John, I am an old school commercial pilot
who retired after thirty six years in the industry. I ride a BMW1200RT which I purchased seventeen year ago
when i retired. I am now nearly seventy nine years young and have traveled extensively throughout Australia
which has been my home for the last fifty eight years.
I have a feeling that both you and Miriam will continue to explore your country on your Spyder which exaclty
my intention for as long as I am able. Greetings from OZ, Victor
Hi guys glad you made it home safe and thanks for taking us along for the ride really enjoyed tagging along that is great that Miriam's dad is doing better goods to hear . today wouldn't be a great day for a bike ride lots of rain they are forecasting up to 100 millimeters 4 inches in so parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia glad I went for a ride yesterday take care have a great weekend
Now I have another good reason to avoid toll roads. $51.50 is terrible. Watching videos from other countries and seeing motorcycles traveling free on toll roads is the reason I'll bypass by 50-100 miles and enjoy backroads as much as possible. Another great trip.!! 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
Now you know why so many people leave Jersey when they retire...LOL Glad your dad is getting better.
Another great odyssey. 13 ride days with 9 being in rain. Ouch. Maybe a drier climate for the next odyssey. Glad you are home safe and Miriam's Dad is improving
Thanks and happy you made it home safely!!
Glad to hear your dad is doing better..... awesome trip great videos thanks for taken us along .. always great to be back home take care John & Rita
Another one in the books! As always, thank you for sharing your journey (odyssey) with us. I’m glad to hear that your father is better. That has to be a relief. You guys rock! Looking forward to the next video.
Well another successful end to your North by Northeast Oddesy! Unfortunately too many rain days, but handled like the true troopers you two are. Yes getting concerning news makes for stressful anxious decisions to further dampen your mood by taking a bit of joy out of the ride. I was relieved when you advised Miriam's dad is doing much better and recovering. Thanks once again for another interesting Vlog, looking forward to the next one! Stay Safe Stay Well & Keep Three Wheels Down.
My husband and I have a 2013 Can-Am Spyder RT and a Time Out Trailer. We would love to travel across the country. We are very envious of you guys! We have done one trip from the gulf coast of of Texas to Red River New Mexico and back home in ten days. We’re going to try to plan an extended trip next summer around the east coast and then come back down to Texas a little further west . We enjoyed watching you guys on your adventures!!!
Glad that you made it home and that Miriam's father is doing better. I agree with you about the RV. You need a base camp to go back to. I have just finished a 7 day journey into the wilderness as in travelling to another state and it is great to get back home.
I'm looking forward to your next adventure
I was so happy to move out of NJ when I retired. I lived in South Jersey and could not stand having to go to North Jersey. Road conditions got worse the further you went North. Yep they dinged you good for having the trailer. Looking forward to the Peaks of Otter videos. Much more scenic than NJTP, aka the Black Dragon.
Glad to know Dad is feeling better, hope for a full recovery😎😎
Another great adventure.👍
Yes we took a week long trip this past summer over 300 miles on the bike one way stopped many places along the way but it was great to see all of this places but the best part was to get back home safe. Great video as usual glad your dad is doing better
We’re glad your dad is doing great,
Awesome job. Love the adventure, looking forward to your next video.
Hi John. The video quality was great. Looks like more drone footage in your future. Thanks again to you and Miriam for a wonderful meet up. We went over to Withville and did the Back of the Dragon and it was quite a ride, 32 miles, 400 + curves and 3500 ft elevation change. Up in Lancaster now for our Southern Gospel concerts and start home Monday. Stay well and hope to see you guys again soon.
You are doing great!😊
Your adventures inspire so many of us. Thank you for sharing them.
Well, you have shown us that not planning where to stay just might be a plan that was meant to be. I'm glad to hear the positive news about Miriam's father. One good tip or travel lesson you provided, if I ever plan to travel on the NJ turnpike, I need to remember to include an additional $51 "entertainment" expense in my travel budget 😳😂👍
Even though it is hard to drive in the footage is beautiful. We went through this right after we started. Bob's parents got COVID in 2020 and were in Texas. 3 days to get home. His parents were in the hospital. We waited 2 weeks and then headed back cause they were stable. They realized them and then found out they wanted to die. By the time we got home they were both gone. That was end of Nov. 2020. They last time he saw them was Sept 2020. I am so sorry about your dad. Plus we know with Michael also how hard it is. When we hit tolls we hit tolls. lol Especially up east. We are so happy to be full-time RVers and we don't miss our home for property taxes are cutting grass or any of that stuff. We are very content with our choice for our life. We are taking the RV through this tunnel. It's going to be a few inches from the top.😮 I'm so glad your dad is doing better. It is great that you have them both.
Thanks, Barb. You two are the model for successfully navigating so many things in life. I’m so proud of you for going out there and making your dream a reality. Wish that you could have been with us for the meetup weekend. Lots of great folks here and your channel has been mentioned!
@@miriambryant1896 That does warm my heart. Thank you
I’ll be lifting up prayers for y’all 😊
Glad you made it home safe! It was such a pleasure for Lisa and I to have been a part of your latest odyssey and we sincerely hope that our journeys will allow us to meet again. Thank you for sharing it with us. Merci et à la prochaine mes amis!
😮 on the Jersey fee😢😢! You guys are. More braver then I. I have lived in NYS my whole life and have never been to NYC, and will never go! Too many people! Thanks for bringing us on your journey! Miriam - Hope your dad is doing better and well! Stay safe!
Just worked out I’d have to drive the full length of New Zealand more than twice to do the same distance as this trip was intended to be!!
My parents live 36 hours away by plane, so that could cause a major travel planning exercise if ever it had to be done in a hurry!
Oh wow! Hope that day is far in the future!
This video touched me. My dad is 87 years old and in the last 8 months he has really changed. He is no longer driving, he has no ambition to go out and is spending so much time in bed. I’m feeling for you Miriam. I’m glad your dad is doing better!
Hugs to you, Odelta. It’s hard to watch our parents decline. Just want them to be “invincible” forever.
@@miriambryant1896 So true.
So much for the RV thing.
Who knows, Bill? He’s thinking about a tear drop now. Saw a really cool one made by Three Bears out of Colorado.
So glad your dad is doing better. I know the feeling on how do I get back home when my brother called me in a panic while on a trip. Luckily my husband had enough airline miles to put me on a plane and send me home. I didn't like leaving him but there wasn't much choice. I love your videos so much that they are the first thing I look for on Saturday mornings. Since I live in Idaho, you already have them posted. Then I look for Coach Bob's.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words!
I've travelled to/from MA so many times from Stafford, I can do it without the benefit of a GPS.
Sure blame Miriam in the title. At least it was dry at the start. Too bad for the quick rote home. Glad you’re safe!!!
How far was that last leg?
Note to self-- never take the New Jersey Turnpike
Hi John & Miriam, glad you made it home safely. So glad to hear Miriam’s dad is doing better.
The last leg of travel was from Maine to Virginia, did you do that all in one trip or did you stay overnight somewhere? That is a lot of ryding for one day 🫡
Ryde safe and God Bless
Artie & Tracy
Artie, we actually took 3 days to get home. John just made it look like one long day in the video. We try to keep our mileage to 250/day.
Makes life exciting huh?
If you took I-95 out of MA, RI, and CT, you could have taken I-287 out of Rye, NY following it to cross over the old Tappan Zee Bridge (now Governor Mario Cuomo Bridge) to the Garden State Parkway South at Exit 14S following the GSP south to the intersection with I-95 south. You eliminate NYC altogether and the GW Bridge.
Would have been a preferable route!
It's Sandi
What part of VA are y'all from . I live in Norfolk VA off tidewater Dr . I wouldn't mind checking out y'all's can am . As I'm trying to talk my wife into getting one .
Virginia beach, southern end
Ok nice I do pest control for Hampton roads termite and pest control in that area..
Was the 700+ the furthest youve ridden in a day ?
We actually took 3 days to get back. The video just makes it look like one day. Try to keep our daily mileage to about 250.
I think you got ripped off on that turnpike fee . I looked it up and they say its $19.42 to go from one end to the other. Assuming they hit you for having a trailer I cant see it being more than double.
Extra for the trailer
