This is helpful. It would be interesting to see Miriam’s end of packing as well. 😊
Yep, don't forget that rain gear, lol!!
Well done. It's great to utilize the space on what you have. When I first started riding and was thinking of road trips on the scoot, I did the research on how to pack. I'm sure this video will help beginners on how to pack a Spyder. Thank you.
I have an Airmoto for tire inflation; a Scoshe Jump Pack, Spyder Tool Kit, and a mix of other tools for use on the Spyder. I initially used Coach Bob's list and then customized it for my need. They all go in the trunk. My rain gear in the left saddlebag, jacket/clothes in the right saddlebag, and in the frunk whatever does not fit in the other three compartments. Naturally, using my Freedom trailer, I can carry more.
Currently saving up my money to buy a Spyder. I rode two wheels from when I was 16, now 71 and not ready to stop riding yet. Thanks for your videos. Packing is important, two is one, one is none. So I usually have a spare for my spare.
You make me realize how much more planning I need to do for upcoming trips! Great video
Nice tour of packing. I really enjoy seeing how folks manage their space.
👍👍
Looks like you have plenty, space wise. As my pappy used to say when I reached for another piece of chicken..."You've had plenty!"
One thing I've learned is to keep things in the same place when packing and unpacking!
Yes! Helps aging brains tremendously!
Now you got me inspired to "packemup" and "heademout"! LOL Good video.
do it!! @franks4386! 💟💟🤗🤗
@@PurpleOnThree mentally, I'm already GONE! 😉😝
Of course we don't have to worry about overnight clothes, at least not yet. But we always have our rain gear because it's like you said lol. We have a tool kit. We have towels, small ones for when you're near the beach or places that you want to clean your feet off. We usually take a cooler that has strengths with us. Of course I always have to have my sunglasses. And I have a bag that's very small to carry extra batteries and stuff for camera gear. We have chargers and cords that are already on board. We do have small inflator but it is bigger than yours. And Bob does have some windshield cleaner in case we need it for some reason. And of course we have our gloves. I think that's pretty much everything we currently carry.
It's great seeing what you pack. The more one travels the better idea of what to take and not take. One issue and now you have an adjustment wrench. It's the little details that we don't think about that makes this great . Have a good time in the Keys !
Good video thanks for sharing enjoy your trip ride safe
I think that tank bag looks very handy...I need to get one of those!
All the best. Good system of taking advantage of spaces.
Only One thing missing John ................. Miriam 👍👍👍👍
Thank you for the mention! 😊

Thanks John, great video!
Excellent job as always. I feel somewhat organized till I watch how you guys prepare. Stay well and hugs to Miriam.
Would you be having a meet and greet around Daytona? We live in Astor, Florida.Would be great to see y’all in person!
Always good to do an update from time to time!
Carry and pack like you do
Excellent tips for traveling on the Spyder! I don't have a trailer yet and, unfortunately, BRP doesn't make one anymore, so these tips are going to come in handy for longer trips as I have already done some overnight trips. Cheers!
Sometimes it’s like a Tetris puzzle! It really helps to think like a true minimalist. The trailer spoiled us. A real shame that BRP isn’t making them any longer.

I'm making a list of things that I'll need for a 2+ week trip I'm making this summer. Seven to eight months of planning, plotting the route, finding lodging within my daily mileage range and just generally looking forward to the trip keeps me motivated. I don't have as much storage on my F3 as you do but I have a waterproof duffle bag that I secure to the passenger seat. I look forward to your videos for ideas. 👍
@mtnmommabear6728, woo hoo! Where are you headed? You will be just fine with the F3...trunk or no? Those waterproof bags can hold a lot. And I have learned over the past few years, less clothes...pack for 3-5 days because most hotels have guest laundry or you can find a laundromat. Have fun on your trip and be safe!
@PurpleOnThree I'm heading to the Deadwood 3W Rally. I've been on a few small trips, but I'm really looking forward to this one. I want to spend a few days at the rally and then go over to Yellowstone and the Grand Teton's. I was there a few years ago, and since then, it has been a bucket list trip to return on a bike. I've been watching John and Miriam's videos and also yours and Tommy G's videos. They are keeping me inspired 👍
@@Vroomchickavroom all that does sound wonderful!! The Grand Tetons are on my bucket list too... Not sure if we will make the Deadwood rally this year but we sure had fun last year! We are planning on Nixa Missouri in September for the spyder rally. Have fun on all your trips and be safe.. I hope our Wheels cross paths! What state do you live in? 🤗💜
Excited for your trip! Sounds great
@PurpleOnThree I live in Southern WV. I'm about 40 minutes from the Back of the Dragon.
Where are your clothes going?Show what you pack you and Miriam for clothing if you are not taking the trailer. You don't have a luggage rack. Nice video as always I learn a lot from your videos. 😊
I think John plans a future video on clothes. The good news is that it will be warm in the Keys…easier to pack light.
@miriambryant1896 okay, I am looking forward to it
Great video. I start planning weeks ahead of a big trip. Like you said, there are a few items that never leave the bike. I'm curious why you wouldn't take your trailer on a long trip? If we are riding two up, its like the American Express card....we don't leave home without it! ha!
Our plan for Key west is to SUV it down to FL with the Spyder on the Stinger Trailer, then Spyder down to Key west and back.
Safe Travels!

Super great detailed video. Buy one question, is there a second backpack which carries Miriam's clothes or your jeans? And are you guys going down to the keys?
There’s a bag that fits into the left pannier and that is what John has designated for my clothes!! Amazingly I’ll be able to fit a couple changes of clothes there. He does allow me to place a small toiletry bag in the back truck. Minimalism!! Yes, we’re planning for the Keys in June. Looking forward to it.
@@miriambryant1896 your cracking me up as normal. Will you write the Can-Am straight down or will you be trailering it? And hopefully it will be warm. It should be it's summer. Who knows that's Florida
We’ll be trailing it until we hit south Florida. Want to ride the spyder on the ocean highway into Key West. Of course we’ll take it out for short Johns on the way south and back home.
Hi John, I’m curious what tires do you run on your spider. The ones that originally came on mine sure did not last very long. I bought a used 2018 RT Limited. I only have 7200 miles on it and it looks like the tires already need to be replaced. I’d like to know if you did something different than what comes on the bikes. Thank you.
take delivery of my sea to sky on march 24. First spider. . Hey go big or go home right?😅
Congratulations!!
I am just wondering....already having a Freedom Trailer, why would you travel to some place like Key West and not take the trailer?
John, I have a question I hope you can answer. I'm 78. Been riding 2 wheelers since I was 16, my first being a 1957 BSA 650 in 1963. Long story short, here I am a very senior citizen. In 2020 my kids convinced me 2 wheels wasn't for me any longer and they were probably right So I bought a new 2020 Can Am Ryker. Although it was fun to ride it was an incredible mistake and disappointment in comfort as a ride. Most uncomfortable piece of transportation on the crappy roads we have here in Quebec the actual home of Bombardier Can Am. The repeated shocks coming into my back from cracks, bumps, potholes and the like as the rear wheel hit each one was Pure torture. I sold it in 2022. Couldn't wait to get rid of it. So now I'm contemplating a Spyder. How do you find it for comfort in relation to bumps etc. My back isn't getting any younger.
The suspension system on the RT is very good. We have no problems
Where did you get a backpack like that? I like that style.
It came from a store called 5.1.1 Tactical.
The same model has 3 sizes, mine is M
Question because you have put to ton of miles on your Spyder. What are your thoughts on the sway bar? I’m new and bought a 2018 Can Am Spyder RTL last October.I see we’re a lot of people are changing out their sway bars. Have you? Thanks Mike
John asked me to tell you that we don’t have one. He thought about it but he said that he couldn’t install it himself so he decided not to buy it. Haven’t missed it.
@@miriambryant1896 thanks so much!
