- The monstrance which is used to carry the Blessed Sacrament is one of six that were blessed by Pope John II before his death to mark the celebration of the Year of the Eucharist. "God In The Streets of New York City" depicts the contrast between the everyday chaos of the busy streets -- complete with traffic, construction and police cars -- and the peaceful presence of Jesus. There is always an opportunity to meet Jesus face to face. It poses the question: Will you recognize him?

Do you truly believe that the host in the monstrance is Jesus? I do! If I saw that and I was in the streets of New York I would bow down before Jesus. It's hard to wrap your head around it but once you get it, you never want to lose it. It's Jesus!

I remember celebrating 40 Hours Devotion, the procession around the church. I literally shuddered at the immensity of God's Gift! Our true worship!

I love this movie but dislike the commentary. I am a convert from Protestant to Catholic. I embrace all that I've learned as a Protestant. It has enabled me to see all that is rich in the Catholic Church. I would never say there is an exclusivity to any church but have experienced great wonder thru both. In the epic Film "On The Waterfront"(1954), the Catholic priest(Karl Malden) evolves! At first he says to a grieving 'Eva Marie Saint', "If you need me, come to the Rectory." After a longshoreman is murdered in the hold of a cargo ship, this Catholic priest, in the face of many telling him to go back to his church, gives a powerful sermon that his place is among the people, as he shouts, "This is my church!" To meet people in Malls, etc, may afford someone the only time to speak to a priest.
Our Lord walking down the streets is AMAZING! The Catholic Church should do this more often. We are dying spiritually and physically. We need our Lord to dwell among us. Amen.

On Corpus Christi last year,
I did public Eucharistic adoration with my Catholic priest. And here's how I did it. The priest and I and several parishioners and the Knights of Columbus did the Eucharistic adoration by walking from Catholic Church to another Catholic Church. And I don't recall any people who were naysayers but I do recall some people who saw it gave me and the rest thumbs up for doing an excellent job. And if public Eucharistic adoration does happen again on Corpus Christi, well I'll gladly attend again.

How much it has changed in a decade. I don't live there, but alot has happened since 2009. But I own this really old book that says "Don't worry, I have won the Battle and the war. I will make all new." So if the author says it's cool, that the soldiers of light will be rewarded with eternal glorification, and kneel before Beatific Vision.........then I can fallow his love command and love this satan possessed cesspool with all the love I have. By knowing I can receive my Eucharistic love any day of the year
