Dawn of the Dead?
The reason I love these is because the sense of safety I get. Like, out there is terrible danger, but I escaped from all that. That sense of relief is almost comfortable. It's very hard to put into words.

I get that same feeling. Sometime I like to take a nap to a chill scene in The Last of Us game.
There was a study of this, the brain seeks safety and knowing that there is danger far away or it can’t get to you makes your brain say to itself “ well at least it’s not over here” that’s why snow storms are so relaxing. It’s cold out there but atleast I’m warm in here
I like the feeling of my enemies having to go through that to get to me.
its a known phenomena for some people. Especially people with trauma and or paranoia. When everything is calm and peaceful, your mind is on high alert because it believes there MUST be danger, we just dont know where it is. On the other end, when there is clear and present danger, the mind is calm because its fully aware. Its like playing the hand slapping game. the anticipation is what gets you.
I'd really like another one of these with more zombie sounds. Like we had to take cover from a passing horde. Maybe they saw us come in and try to beat the door down and eventually move on, and then every once in a while, one or two would bump into the house while walking by. Maybe some muddy footstep sounds something gets knocked over occasionally, etc. Ect. Maybe a distant car alarm once or twice. All while a slight storm goes on.

I love, love, LOVE the detail of it being mostly dark, with only the occasional lightning flash illuminating the zombie horde outside. You never really get a good look at them but judging by the sounds they're making, it's likely there's far too many to just run away from, so we the viewer have just gotta hunker down and hope they don't come barging in. I've never seen any other atmospheric zombie video do this but the effect is sensational.

(Writing in a journal)
4/20/2023 Wednesday (I think it is. Lost track of the date a few days back)
Me and my siblings made it into this house. The storm started about half an hour ago. We were lucky enough to find this place yesterday after escaping that overrun town. We were lucky enough to escape with some supplies. God have mercy on us and let our luck continue. Found a snack machine while at that town and out of impulse I decided to break the glass to get all the snacks. The broken glass then alerted some of the dead ones and soon, they started surrounding us. Luckily I had an escape plan set out just in case this would happen. Found an old car in that town that still luckily functioned. Also had a decent amount of gas left. My baby brother and sisters were very lucky we got out in time. We decided to stop by this house and rest a couple of days. After a few days, I’d reckon I check out the highway near here and siphon as much gas as I can. I’m thinking about taking us to the west coast. It’s a long road trip but I pray that we make it. These dead freaks started showing up right when the storm started. There’s a whole herd of them moving around the house. Thank God these freaks didn’t notice us. Even if they did I reckon we can just hide out in the attic for a while. It’s not like we’ll be going thirsty or hungry any time soon thanks to the storm and all the food we have. Anyways I think it’s time I get some sleep. I gotta be strong for my siblings. Things haven’t been the same ever since we lost our parents to the dead. They got teared to shreds right in front of our eyes. My parents have been good people their whole lives. I don’t understand why God decided this is how they’d leave the world. I have never in my life seen or heard my dad scream until that day. Anyways that’s enough for now. My eyes will gauge themselves out if I don’t get some rest right now. Hopefully these dead freaks will be gone by tomorrow morning. Sooner we leave this house that’s in the middle of the damn woods the better.

Thank you brother that mean a lot! I’ve always just been a writer my whole life. I got into honors ELA classes throughout high school. And in college my professors always told me they liked how detailed and well structured my essays and papers were. I guess in another life I could’ve been a successful writer. Anyways I’d definitely love to see an hour long video of something like this. Survivors taking shelter in a safe zone or a building while there’s a storm outside with zombies roaming around. They then exchange quite stories about everything that’s happened to them. Good luck with that man and I’ll definitely check it out once you make it

I have been recently playing a game called Darkwood that is quickly becoming one of my favorite games of all time. In case y’all don’t know, Darkwood is about trying to escape a forest that has trapped you and many poor souls for some unknown reason. During the day you search for supplies and expand your knowledge of each zone of the forest. At night however, you must bunker down in your safe house and defend it from an onslaught of one of the most unique takes on zombies I’ve seen. This video really captures the feeling I get when a large amount of enemies are surrounding my base and have broken in. My character gun or shovel in hand ready to make his last stand in a hidden and barricaded room while he waits for the morning sun which will dispel all threats until night falls yet again.
I failed miserably at playing Dark wood but it's such a beautiful game. I loved watching Mark play it.

Journal entry Day 3
It's been 3 days since I've been in this God forsaken place. It's like they know I'm in here. Is it possible that they can smell or even sense me in here?The storm never lets up, even in the daytime. I'm starting to confuse days with nights. I haven't slept since I've been trapped. I'm afraid to sleep. I hear a bang on the door every now and then (it's like a reminder that it knows I'm here). Helps not coming that's for sure. What was I thinking, to go this deep in the city where hoards live? I need to sleep, but afraid that once I close my eyes, the door will finally break open. I look out the window and see a particular one staring at me whenever lightning strikes. I think I'm losing my mind. How can a zombie be staring at me in the dark?! Yet everytime lightning flashes, he's standing there looking....waiting....for me to close my eyes. I will be damned if I'm on the next zombie menu. If it's is looking at me, then it knows that I'm looking right back, and as long as my eyes are open it will just continue to stare. I see it looking at me....I....just......need...to...rest...my.....eyes..........for a moment.

February 3rd, 2032. It’s been 14 months since the Undead took over. We have been running for what feels like an eternity, hoping to find safety even if for a few hours. We locked ourselves inside a cabin we came across, 5 of us in total. We hadn’t seen a single zombie on our way up to the cabin; the woods were empty, we concluded.
They must have smelled us, for we woke up in the dead of night, the rain pounding against the roof, as the deafening wail of the Undead Horde poured into the cabin.

They bang and scratch at the door and walls right now. I hope that in writing this, if anyone comes to read this: Don’t go out into the woods. Don’t trust the silence. They are waiting.

If I could make this a story : it’s been about a week since this apocalypse started, my parents got taken by the dead, I am a only child so I am all alone besides my service dog cooper, what is more scary is I have epilepsy but now that he is with me I know I will be safe, we roam the city to leave as my other family members live in Canada it will be weeks before we reach there, especially the cold by now can maybe slow these things down? Who knows it all just started and everyone has gone crazy… cooper had even saved me many times so I did not get bitten, he is a brilliant and good loyal dog, my bestfriend, cooper sniffs around and spots a old house that had a dog inside before since the apocalypse just began the smell was still there the remains before the family left or maybe died, time for me and cooper to rest now as these rotten corpses roam , it’s good cooper knows to be quiet we began to know their strengths and weaknesses they are blind but smell blood and only follow sound, he lays on my stomach as I wrap my arms around him and say “goodnight coop’” - end of journal day 1 ) I hope that is interesting so far! It is actually true with my dog cooper and my epilepsy:)
Journal entry day 2: it’s getting cold the sky was a midnight blue and smog everywhere, it smelt awful from corpses… but cooper woke me up around 3AM if my wrist watch was correct, he seemed to alert me something is coming or someone? I got up and heard groans and moans of horrifying torn up humans pale eyes and gray skin even missing body parts I felt like puking, luckily there is a window and we are on the first floor, I had cooper go out first as I picked him up, I then climbed out shut the window soon as the door broke down and the Dead roamed in, we both took off as cooper follows me and is trained to be with me without a leash, I’m lucky for that, very lucky, it’s dark in the woods and the leaves crunching under my feet made me off edge and scared, atleast cooper is here, he would alert me before anything is coming, he can obviously smell and hear and see better than I can or even anybody else besides other dogs, I check my watch it is 4:43 AM we been on a walk for almost 2 hours, my feet are killing me, cooper looks tired , I need to find somewhere to spend the night, and fast, I can’t have us pass out in the woods in the open, it’s already near winter it’s October I can see my breath, finally I see a house but it’s super small it was a apartment in a small neighborhood , finally, somewhere safe, I’m so happy, even more luck this house hasn’t been ransacked and some food is left that didn’t go bad and bottles of water I gave to cooper and food as we both ate and I laid on the couch cooper laid on the floor next to me wrapped in a blanket it’s time I sleep, we should keep moving, it already doesn’t seem safe to stay in the same area.. goodnight journal, or anyone who finds this journal. (I see you post some stories so if ever mine I’ll be blessed hehe)
Journal entry day 3: I just woke up but from a good sleep finally after days and still needing to get to Canada hoping even praying some of my family is still alive, time to go now as me and cooper walk out it’s sunny out looks like summer but still a gentle cold breeze and leaves falling, me and cooper both walked in middle of the road to avoid the sidewalks if the dead were hidden in a bush or who knows where, it still smells… poor cooper must hate it more than I do, after just half an hour of walking all abandon cars in a dead highway I got an idea, I told cooper to go scavenge around as he starts sniffing the ground not too far from me, lucky I found a pump to get gas out the car I never knew what they were called but I knew how to use it thanks to my father, as I collected as much gas as I could from abandon cars it’s lucky no one has taken much of this gas! Maybe because many travel on foot or hide or even dead, I been alone with cooper it feels like we are the last living things on earth from how empty it is, god I wish my family were here I miss them, I snapped back into reality as cooper nudged my hand with his wet nose I look over, he found car keys, “cooper that’s amazing good boy good boy!” I praised him it took awhile to find the car I didn’t want to make a alarm go off seems like a horrible idea, and my eyes got wide it was such a big truck I filled it with gas and had much more gas left to go, cooper and I hopped in as I start the car, I only drove 5 times before because my epilepsy but seems like there is no more rules here… cooper snarls looking back as I look in the mirror it’s a hoard all walking as if they were migrating? God we got to go. I stepped on the gas and we were out of there in less than a second as the highway is empty some cars in the ditch some bodies laying around dead, I drove as far as I could till the gas ran out , we have more but seems like a better idea to stay at a house we were in a abandoned neighborhood again, I’ll continue this tomorrow , goodnight journal.
Journal entry 4: we woke up, as we got everything went to the truck and drove just drove and drove felt like hours days weeks years but we were half way there , I know we can do this, the truck ran out of gas as me and cooper went searching for some cars with left over fuel , suddenly I hear gunshots and cooper runs next to me shaking from the noise , I duck down and comfort him, as these men come over to us I go “what do you want from us?” They said nothing and tied us up and my dogs Jaw taped shut, we were in the back of a truck now, I tried so hard to get out of the rope around my wrist but it felt like my hands went numb and cold from how tight it was, cooper clawed the tape off as he went over to me he is a brilliant dog as his breed is known to be smart he is big for a Australian shepherd, I said “cooper chew , chew it off” as he pawed at the rope he then got it off and I opened the truck picked him up using all I could from how big he was and jumped out we fell and got a bit bruised but we were out .. I hugged him as we ran into the woods so they won’t track us, god this is scary, we stayed in a cave that was small and made a fire slept for the night and got woken up by groans by the dead, they didn’t see us thank god.. we snuck off and were back on the highway walking , it’s getting slowly darker by how long we have walked , we saw a group of abandon cars all together searching for a car that can work , but cooper leaped Infront of me as I was confused of why , the dead one bit his rib as I stomped on his head with my foot and grabbed cooper and hid in the back of a abandon truck , here we are again in a truck , I hugged him tearing up saying it’s okay it’s okay over and over as he whined , I hear a moan and saw the dead next to me as cooper tried to bite it he bit the arm as I went to stomp on it’s head but got bit on my leg , we both worked together to kill the monster .. it was a officer though he had a gun on him loaded with 3 bullets , I felt like I was getting the flu and weaker by the minute as if someone was choking me slowly, I looked at cooper as he looked at me with the same pain in his eyes I said “we won’t be one of them baby… I’ll make sure” as I cough up blood and he whimpers and licked my chin with all his strength i teared up I said “look buddy, we made it this far, we should be proud , I’m so proud of you , your such a good boy” he wagged his tail softly and took one more breath and laid on my lap dead, he twitched a bit with groans as I got weak too and felt sleepy and to close my eyes “no no no stay awake!” I looked at cooper as he was turning slowly “cooper I love you so much baby I’m so sorry I will see you soon in a moment.” My hand shakes with the gun in my hand I pulled the trigger and cried I hugged him as blood got on me , I laid him closer to me cuddling him as I aimed the gun at my head “I won’t let us be those monsters cooper , I love you.” As I pulled the trigger goodbye journal who ever reads it , do not move our bodies or if needed please by god burry us together thank you.) it went dark. I then saw a light and heard faint barking and saw cooper again.

I quickly locked the door to the house and barricaded it with a couch and some chairs. I headed up stairs and did the same with the attic door, making sure I had double protection. I creaked the attic window open just a few inches and stuck my rifle barrel out of it. I loaded a full mag and waited for any signs of other survivors. I could hear a few but couldn’t see them through the storm. I only prayed that they could make it out too but I knew they wouldn’t last long. I soon fell asleep to the sound of the rain, knowing I was safe at least for now.

You should play a game call Days Gone. When there's a horde huddled in a ravine and it's raining, and you're covering inside a barn. It is exactly like this. The psychology behind why people like us find this comforting has to do with our need to survive and hide from danger. And when we hide, nothing can get to us.

Everyone is going crazy in here. We're tired and drenched. Nick made a fire, tried to call the others to come closer but only Gabriel and Catarina did. The others... Jesus.
One of them, we found by a river not far from here, wailing at what seemed like nothing. He let us come to him, but hasn't spoken a word since, at least not anything that made sense. He's crawled in the corner: "They won't stop. They won't stop. They won't stop." he says. He keeps it down but - damn - it's starting to become a problem. I can see Nick smashing his teeth down to powder because of him.
We sprayed the walls with guts from the infected. Heard from someone that it helps mask out our scent; how that works I don't know A lot of the walkers have had their faces destroyed, missing their noses and some of them are blind but they still know where we are. It seems to work though. They are walking right by us, but for how long?
It's been days, months, years? I don't think it matters anymore. Can't even tell what season we are. All I know is that I haven't stopped since all of this began. I'm glad I was out of town, otherwise I would have been killed, eaten or... turned into one of those godforsaken things. I don't even know if I should feel pity or disgust for them. Are they even alive? Do they even know what they are doing?... God.
Anyway, where are we? Well, for what I know, we are in a town called Formigal, in Spain. I don't even know how I managed to cross the Iberian Peninsula. That's pretty much all I can say.
Where are we going? Only God knows, even if he somehow is even listening anymore, if he ever did.
That's all for know. I'll try to get some sleep. Hope its not my only entry.

This zombie ambience happens right after you made it to the safe house just in time for a zombie storm! Hear the thunder and heavy rain. Hear the gunshots of survivors fighting back. You saw your friends fleeing, and you have no idea what happened to your neighbors. You are trying to get some rest and sleep. Maybe your dreams will take you to a safer place.

Ah I get it, this is meant to imitate that weird stupid idiotic flaw humans have where they can't see in the dark, and so only the lightning reveals to their inferior eyes what is really going on.
The power was out due to the storm but even if the power was on you wouldnt want to attract zombies to you with lights, lightning can be cozy and terrifying at the same time 🧟♂️
