CSX Train Vs. Flatbed Truck - Downtown Spur Miami, Florida

- I was chasing the CSX Downtown Spur switcher through Miami when it hit a flatbed truck in front of Ferrous Processing & Trading. The tractor-trailer was dragged some 50-100' as the train applied the emergency brake from its already slow excepted track speed to 0. Miami-Dade emergency services responded to the scene, and the flatbed truck was able to drive itself out of the tracks. Fortunately it appears there were no injuries, and the crew handled the situation well. We then get Y322 in "bat out of hell" mode at the SAS 46th Street in Hialeah as it makes its slightly delayed home run.
The first third of the video shows the train switching Sun Gas, one of the several interesting customers on this one of a kind line. If you wish to skip to the buildup to the incident, go to about 4:00 in the video.

I love watching industrial switches.
Sure do love the sound of those non-turbo EMDs! Nice video!
Thanks! The crew put on a show running like a bat out of hell after the incident
It will be interesting to see if CSX keeps this line to south Florida. They appear to be selling off alot of marginal lines. 🚂
Yeah, it still gives quite a bit of revenue for them. Probably too many dependent customers to defray to a shortline.
The tri rail line from West Palm Beach to Miami is already owned by the FDOT, Amtrak @ rock quarries likey pay enough for the rest
You could see the engineer talking to the dispatcher about the accident. Too bad you didn't have a scanner with you. That would be interesting to listen to
I did, the volume was low, I should get one of those audio recorders
I loved this, great catch. When I was a kid in the early 80’s I would bike ride to that same spot to watch then Seaboard System / Seaboard Coast Line service Sun Gas. Great memories!
Thanks! I can imagine the action was super awesome back then, glad it's still active nowadays
A bit of inspiration from Distant Signal in your sign-off?
Nice video Tolga!
Zero Excuse for the Trucker to Ever sit on a Railroad Right-of-Way. He most likely Received a Citation and when his Employer finds out about this, he will have a Issues. If he/she is an Independent Trucker, he/she might be OK. He/she did something Really Dumb. 👎
Yep
Future swift driver.
Great video and great catches.
Did you forget where you were filming? In Miami he probably didn't have a CDL to start with.
Interesting video, nice job
Thanks!
I agree with shot of the day. Also quite the day of railfanning. Great work.
Thank you! The crews that work this job really like to open it up once they reach the SFRC.
Sensational
Excellent video 👍 please make some more.
Thanks! WIll do
Koollove nice train horn nice loud
thanks
Very nice!
Thanks!
just subscribed to your channel
Thanks!
I like how the cop puts his lights on like it's going to stop him from getting hit by the train if it was coming toured him 😂
awesome
Thanks
How do you when to catch these trains in action? Is it or miss or???
Awsome job Tolga
Thanks Tom!
Very cool switching video. Sux to be the truck driver lol
Thanks, and agree
💯💯💯
I reckon the semi trailer driver won't be in so much of a hurry to get across before the train, next time, if he somehow miraculously avoids losing his CDL! :D
its cool that you like watching but be safe out there, sometimes stuff just comes off the rails without warning.
Great video 😀👍👍
Not something you see every day!
Thanks Evan, I completely agree
That's a 2nd rail accident I've seen on here where a vehicle immediately drove off after a collision.
He can drive for swift now.
Video started off with police driving through the rail crossing when the rail crossing we're flashing red
yeah he almost got hit by the train going the other direction
first off he/she wont necessarlly lose there cdl because of this i do hate when non cdl holders or people that know about driving trucks etc start talking like they lose there cdl because of an incident like this etc, and 2nd of all dont know the story on how the impact occured, the truck driver couldof yes been trying to beat the train, but noone knows couldof been stuck, couldof been trying to back up etc, the point is dont know the story on how the impact accured, if its proven to be there fault yes at worse they would be getting a fine or so, but not necassarly losing there cdl
The truck driver deserves to lose is CDL, be fired and be forced to pay for any damage to the trailer and locomotive. These reckless drivers need to be held accountable.
Yea ok bud. Could have been a number of different causes to this wreck from an air leak, stuck brake booster, traffic, etc. Not always the drivers fault.
Union Pacific Fan he was pulling forward as the train approached but traffic could have been a factor
@@UnionPacificFan: First, I am NOT your bud as you do NOT know me so don't be so "casual". 99.9% of grade crossing accidents are the fault of the motorist and I suspect he caused this as well. Mechanical malfunction or not, he still caused it.
@@dave6695 reminds me of Jim Carrey - 'so your telling me, there's a chance!' a .1% chance. 😁
@@TolgaEastCoast in drives ed they always told us if there's no room to cross on the other side wait otherwise.
7:47 you can see a gate going down in the background.
