Sounds like she was a sacrifice for somebody whose time it was to pay up or pay it forward. I recall seeing a video So So Madame did a few yrs ago and IF my memory is correct then T-Boz's name came up as being the MAIN one who was totally pissed that Lef't Eye was basically over TLC before she officially departed being in the trio. With Lisa's protege being so much like her in stage presence & all to me it's no coincidence that there are similarities in there deaths.

Lisa dying and getting dropped by Columbia/Sony just before then really stalled their careers. I also think sharing the same label as Destiny’s Child didn’t help them - DC was the dominant girl group of that era and Columbia wisely prioritized their push. They also didn’t really stand out - no one with Beyoncé’s star quality on their lineup, and they very much felt like a watered down version of TLC (not surprising given their connection to Lisa), but unlike TLC, they lacked a distinctive vocalist like T-Boz (though they were all talented singers and rapper in Natina’s case).
They also didn’t have the high intense drama groups like TLC (Lisa burning down the house, bankruptcy, etc) or Destiny Child (lineup changes, the heavy Beyoncé push) to keep their name in the press and public eye. They kind of got lost in the shuffle with the multitude of pop/r&b artists out at that time.

So I was fortunate enough to grow up to Dope Female Groups such as: Blaque, TLC, SWV, En Vogue, Brownstone, Total, Xscape, 702, 3LW, etc.

I used to LOVE Blaque! I forgot all about them. When they were out I was in the 9th grade and I used to play "Bring It All To Me" so much that my friends took my cassette and hid it😅
And that was my favorite part when JC said "Are you feelin my Timbs my baggy jeans my thug appeal"😂 of course I laughed at it but it still was my favorite part.

Thank so much for the content. I love that I got to grow up during this era of music. I also love how back then, they did real tributes to those of whom we lost. Nowadays even with deaths on our own families, it’s not as celebrated. Everyone is so desensitized because of social media.
