Skyline Trails with the Locals (Troy Lee, Treacherous, Diablo & Lower Block) April 8, 2024

- We went out to Skyline and hit some trails with a bunch of the locals who do most of the trail maintenance out there. We hit Troy Lee, Treacherous, Diablo and Lower Block. We had a ton of rain these past few weeks. There were lots of ruts on some of the trails but they cleaned up most of Diablo which was running prime.
Ive learned many years ago to never try to keep up with locals. Especially trails with exposure, all the boys were smashing it was a solid crew and we had a blast.

Love the prayer! In New Zealand we do a karakia (Maori for prayer) at the start of our group rides. Ruts look 👀 scary 😟. Step 🆙 gap looks like fun 🤩 and love that ridge line trail \\

Yeah ebikes are awesome, I realize the haters have never tried one. Don't get me wrong, I still love my reg bike and ofcourse my DH bike but ebikes are perfect for days you are limited on time and want to go out and ride

Diablo is an awesome fun trail. Unfortunately last time I rode it, it was still wet and started raining. I didn't know that Lower Block was called that. I thought it was all still part of Troy Lee. Good stuff!
Yeah that was the first time riding Lower Block, normally we hit it straight from Troy Lee

That exposure on Diablo 😮. Interesting trail design, big long straights following the Ridge. Here in Rotorua they're more like zig-zags down the hills, lots of sharp turns to kinda extend the use of the gradient. You guys don't seem to have any shortage of that over there!
Yeah the problem is on some of the most steep sections there is no room for the trail to bend or zig zag, the trail is basically on edge of cliff 😬
@@TommyHuynh Yeah I see that, gnarly. Long runs too, 2.4 miles etc, most of ours here are between 0.4-1.0 miles, with only a couple that are 2 miles long.
Another Cool ass vid from you Tommy makes me smile, I've just spent 2 hours uncovering the Camoflaged bandage tape covering my Xduro Nduro Pro Emtb it's been on there for 3 years! man I cant wait to ride the Trails here in the UK it's still to wet to venture out, maybe a week or more, watching vicariously I wish we had trails like yours they are heavenly👍

None of them are mine, there's been a few different ones from different people but I'm sure you can find them on Amazon. Just make sure it's like a bungee

How long are the climbs to get back to the top
They are pretty long. I don't know for sure but I'm guessing atleast 3 miles
@@TommyHuynh yea its 4.5 miles to echo which is close to the Troy Lee sign on top. But some of the other trails are lower and not as far up. Trencherous is about 2 miles up and Block is about 1.5 miles up.
