    You can use the "Archimedes principle" to measure the density of your coins. Pure silver has a density of 10.49 g/cm^3. .900 silver should have 10.31 g/cm^3. Density = mass (dry weight) divided by volume (weight hanging in water). Water should be at 0.998 g/cm^3 at 20°C. Easy way to find out if it is really silver! 😉👍🏻

    I immediately checked a few of my ‘21 Morgan’s hoping not to find a 1921-O.

    Reinforces why buying raw coins off eBay or Facebook is full of risk. I know slabs can be faked as well, but you can at least check the certification numbers on PCGS and NGC sites (and see true views in some circumstances) to authenticate. It’s why so far, I’ve stuck with purchasing slabbed coins in the Morgan and Peace arena.

    • @AcoushaCollectibles
      @AcoushaCollectibles  Před 2 lety +1

      Slabbed coins are the way to go with online sales, unless you know the dealers intentions and integrity personally. I normally online buy raw coins at shows. Seems like there are hundreds of things that can be wrong with a coin. Its good to see it up close. This is a great comment.

    There’s only about a dozen 1922 high relief peace dollars in existence. A guy on Pawn Stars sold his for $80k. These are some of the most rarest coins in American history.

  • @gregash7683
    @gregash7683 Před rokem

    You point out a significant differences with the real and fake Peace dollars. Genuine business strikes have curved edges between the rim and the reeding. Fakes, often have flat, square rims, as found on 19th and early 20th century proof strikes.This crispness often contrasts with rough adjacent fields and rim lettering. It these contrasts that 'jump out' for educated collectors.

      @AcoushaCollectibles  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for the comment. With these groups of coins I have no reason for using a glove based on its condition. With higher end stuff, I touch the edge and can easily removed finger prints if need be. PCGS and NCC graders also don’t use gloves when handling coins. Just a cosmetic instrument based on the industry standard
