You know... I really like this transition period for the family trade, watching the expertise transfer from father to son. Don't take it for granted. There are lots of fathers/sons who wish the lessons of the past could be passed on to meet the tech improvements of the future. Thanks for sharing these projects, but in the grand scheme of things this transfer of tradecraft is so much more meaningful.
The curb really made the job look clean and professional . Was the neighbor happy? He should be!
Yeah he calmed down after he saw the work
I like what the home owners did. It really brightens things up and makes it more friendly. Nice touch. As always great concrete work.
They were going for the Palm Springs vibe
The Newport Backbay area is really nice and expensive. The planes take off from John Wayne, as they go over the back bay they must follow noise abatement rule. Climb, level off, climb, level off, climb, level off. So it makes it very loud. Imagine that neighborhood no house less than 4 million...
And falling off the bluff
You guys are artists. Wish you were near me.
That fan pattern on the corner pad is not a bad idea, better than just a pie-shaped concrete pad👍 .
Man, I'm missing that 50% horse hair & 50% nylon broom😞
Too bad the legendary broom got robbed as David O'Dell explained in a video awhile ago 😔
@@steevenguerra6083 Bummer, i missed that video.
And much more
Everything you guys do turns to gold. Looks really nice!
Ty
Terrific!
Another great transformation.
Ty
Nice! Merry Christmas.
This job turned out great! Thanks for the wonderful video, too!❤❤❤
Thank you too!
Thank you too!
Great work. I love a light broom finish like that
Thank you! Cheers!
I need to repaint a concrete patio soon
Hope to get some tips and tricks here 👍
I like the pie slices on that slab. Looks good
Ty
GREAT WORK! Taking notes!📝
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
You said you were near John Wayne Airport? Good lord, man! That has to be the toughest, most no-nonsense airport in the world!
I wish
Great job brother.👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice job!
Thank you! Cheers!
cool
Sweet!
👍👍
tight bro!
Mr. Odell, I don’t understand how using the margin trowel at the offset joints is going to stop the crack. Seems like it would help in theory but if the rest of the concrete is still connected underneath along the rest of the length of that line, then it seems like a crack would still jump across to the next slab. I’d love to see what happens in a few months or years from now.
Me too
Looks incredible as always. Can you come to NY and do ours🥴💞💞💞💞
Possibly
Ty
Excellent job. Don’t you want to come to Dallas for some charity work? 😆. I need my driveway done.
Sure
Great concrete work Tim as usual. But, I am not a fan of the painted concrete. I had no idea there were still some Hippies around!
Haha yeah to each their own but thank you!
So people who like colour are hippies? What a weird mindset.
Not bad on the finish product from the homeowner.
TY
Hey! Did you put rebar in that slab??? (Just Kidding 😀 )
@OCC, why isn't there any expansion foam? Poppa Dave said it should be used in between two fixed slabs.
I don't know
👍👍
Get it on
Oss
Dang rebar on the ground... hahahahhaaa i had to make the comment
Nosey neighbor show up on pour day? 😂
what's the benefit with concrete vs pavers?
Did you left that rebar 😉😉😉🇬🇧
Great job team! Came out great! How many yard pour did this end up being? 🤔
PS- love the paint job by the homeowners, really livens up the backyard 👍 just hope they waited for concrete to cure long enough 🤞
love your work cutting all the joints is a lot of work but it sure looks good
Yes definitely a lot of work
👍
Why didnt you lift the rebar 😂😂😂😂😂😂 only messing
Only sporadically as usual
Hahaha 😝
Hey man, the rebar......
Haha I know I know 😅
You know what you need is a video compilation of just you guys lifting the rebar for research purposes.
Haha yeah would be nice 😂
This looks like some hired crew to do the work do you guys do any of the work yourselves or sub it out.
For sure
Your curb looks nice but your joint might crack to the curb
May be right
Is he spraying for weeds
Oil
Haven’t watch these videos for a while.whats happened to the original narrator ??
this is his son who i think is transitioning to take over the business as his father(original narrator) is semi retired. he still does a video here and there.
Yes sir 👍
@@christophers.4007 oh ok.glad he’s ok and just semi retiring.great videos all the same 👍🏼👍🏼
@@OdellCompleteConcrete glad your father is ok and semi retiring sir.great videos 👍🏼👍🏼
Yeh but lifting the steel doesn't work champ, goes straight back to the bottom when you stand on it
. There's your comment 😂
Why stand on it when it's two feet apart
@@OdellCompleteConcrete you'll stand on it when you're raking and screeding it. The amount of walking around you do once it's in. And you know. Just chair it and do it properly, because that is the proper way to do it.
On a zero boundary boarder did you need to get permission from the other home owner to pour concrete up against their house? I ask because in part one you talked about the neighbor coming through you clients garage without asking and then questioning you about the job.
Think of it like paint but better.
OMG that paint job looks absolutely horrid.A nice color stain would have looked so much better. But it does go nicely with the constant drone of jet engines.
That looks terrible...not the actual concrete work, you guys did fantastic. The painting that the homeowner did looks like Dr. Seuss, ralfed all over it.
You guys always do killer work.... appreciate all your videos but IMO what the customers are going to do is where I would apply the word Felchy! Lame! Yuck! 👎👎
I know you have to be nice/PC but the homeowners absolutely ruined that nice pour with those fruity colors.
They have to live with it……not you!
If you want to see natural grey concrete color then you can just go to 99% of houses and take in the view.
@GWrench9 That’s my house. We love it, but my wife and I understand that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea so we keep it to the private area in our back yard. We leave the publicly visible areas more in line with the rest of the neighborhood out of respect for community tastes and the perceived effects on property values. (Although both my immediate neighbors have seen it in person and I’ve told us they like it.)
In the end, though, it’s just paint and will need to be painted again in a few years. We did it ourselves with help from our friends for less than $800 of supplies and a few weekends of work. So if we get sick of it or decide to sell, We can change or remove the paint very easily.
@lunarRed lovely back yard. I like the side yard control joints being staggered.
No. They paved paradise and put up a paradise.
Are the homeowners LGBTQ???
