That rare wii with the black washed out screen is a capacitor issue, You need to replace the exploded capacitors/screen filters inside and it will work. Worst case scenario you gotta remove the chip from a less profitable wii and put it in that one

It boggles my mind that people don't factory reset and wipe their hard drives before selling electronics. If you ever bought one of my old consoles, not only would there not be a game in the drive but it's memory would be blank.
Same here especially with cell phones and tablets like just randomly donating or recycling your phone with all your personal data pictures and info on it like why reset that stuff people before donating the old phone or tablet
was thinking the same thing. never know who is going to buy it and go through your entire account messages, and all.
You cant use their account legally. Most of the time account sharing is against the T&C. Any digital games are worthless because you dont own them and cant transfer them. You have to delete the old accounts.
Imagine someone has a bookshelf of physical discs and they decide to open all the cases to make sure all the discs are in a good shape, and the only one that's missing is being reviewed by a CZcamsr saying that the console with the disc you were looking for is roasting is roasting it.
this litterally was my wii and thats pretty much exactly what happened. i noticed it was gone awhile ago... i had like 20 broken wiis and istg i checked them all for disks but this is indeed my wii, the faint bit of home screen i can see proves it. this specific wii i leant to my grandma and i have no clue what she did to it. sadly that copy had a bit of sentimental value since it was my first game i played EVER, but i donated it quite awhile ago and have come to terms with the loss. i definately will remember to be more diligent in the future. i still have the box on my shelf as a reminder. if the person who bought the game happens to be reading this, i would be willing to pay double whatever you bought it for, due to the sentimental value.
edit: no these consoles where not donated together as i have never owned a naruto game, nor WANTED to

i think the problem with the wii is with capacitors, because its black and dark, MattKC had a similiar problem when he bought a 1$ wii from Japan
after that it look normal, so you can try replacing them!

I've seen both the blacked out screen and washed out white screen a few times and there's a couple of repairs you can try. Since you've covered the cable and settings you're going to have to look inside at the AV board area. It might be a capacitor for either issue. So if you see one bloated with it's guts leaking out then that's obvious. But it could also be the chip itself that fried.
One other thing to try first is to clean the av socket really good with iso alcohol and blow the wii out really well. You'll be amazed what a stray pet hair or build up will cause to happen. Hopefully the cleaning works and it's not more invasive.
If it's the chip then you're better off just Frankensteining a wii out of the one with data and possibly another with other issues and putting a whole one together while the other becomes spare parts.

I really enjoy these types of videos from you so much. It always interesting seeing an old wii from the previous owner and what they did on it. Its so cool to watch and looking at stuff with you from back in the day. I hope you keep it up with this type of content. There also really unique as well compared to others on youtube.
both of those wiis have capacitor problems. Notice how it was normal at the beginning and it got worse after time. That's because capacitors charge over time, and that explains the problem perfectly. I hope I helped you! MattKC has a video with a 1$ Wii that had the same type of problem.
Yeah, I've seen the dark Wii menu before in MattKC's video, but I didn't know the opposite could happen where it's too bright.

8:08 that looks like a capacitor issue, one of the video output capacitors is likely failing and you would have to fix it.
I had to test Wii systems at my job and found Gale of Darkness, too. I think that's the highest priced game I've found in a console at work.

The Wii with the AV problem is an issue that's popping up more and more each day.
Its caused by the capacitors by the AV output.
Crazy to think though that Wii's are being plagued with capacitor issues at the AV output level while Wii U's are having issues with the NAND chips corrupting themselves and leading to unbootable consoles.
Good thing Dolphin emulation is literally flawless and even supports real Wiimotes.
I mean like... Having an actual console is usually better than just an emulator. At least in my opinion@@bhume7535

The NAND issue is mostly on the black models and shouldn’t be an issue if your Wii U is plugged in
2 things. 1 I didnt know that game went for so much. I believe I still have mine, and the case for it too! 2nd, that was one of my favorite pokemon games growing up. So many memories, and getting pissy when I couldn't catch pokemans to transform em back.

Pokemon XD is an insane find, i own a lot of GameCube games, but that's one of the few still missing from my collection, what a legendary find!
since you don't own pokemon xd and if you played in past or want to play it again if you have wii you can always mod wii and get nintendont emulator on it along with this game and many others on your wii
When the screen is that light on a Wii that means one of the capacitors are going bad and also that way that was very dark on the screen. That's not AV cables going bad. That's the internal GPU dying
I see this a lot because I work at DK oldies so we get a lot of wiis in that have issues like that

what a find! Sucks I had the case like a month ago from a storage unit, and manual for that game I would have sent it over! And that wii issue is most likely the capacitors for video!

You getting Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness from that Wii is what I am trying so hard to accomplish when I buy loose Wii consoles like this.
After doing some digging I found something on that Wii image.
Try going settings, Picture, Colour calibration and switch to SMPTE test pattern and switch that on and back off apperantly that fixes it. The setting sometimes doesnt save thou. Mite be a bug in the software.

The GC games really came in clutch, made the goal of the episode mostly by itself.
Nothing better than powering on a console, hitting eject and seeing a game come out. 2 Wii Sports and a Pokémon XD is pretty crazy.
14:00 I only have that issue whenever i use my wii with a composite to HDMI adapter, whenever i just use the composite cables straight into the same TV the picture turns out fine
The Wii has the same fault as a console MattKC bought in japan...it was down to the capacitors on the video circuit dryinf out.

I believe the issue with the Wii is the capacitors I can’t remember if it was by Matt KC but I’ve seen an issue similar to that but I believe it’s capacitor related. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

The Wii with the bad AV output is (from what I remember??) something that needs to be re-solded. Nothing like replacing a GPU/CPU on the 360, just a few points
Clash of Ninja 2 is a certified Gamecube classic! I actually have it on my Steam Deck, don't play it much outside of a trip down nostalgia lane but man that game was my childhood.

that wii graphics problem is usually caused by capacitor near AV output, it must be replaced

Getting Pokemon XD, now there's a lucky find. Sure is an expensive one (got my copy years ago when they were more affordable). Even the japanese versions go for a decent bit of cash, so to find that one in the lot, that's the best (certainly most expensive) game found so far for sure.
My PS2 makes a wicked clicking sound when you first start playing that rivals that PS3. When I first heard it I thought the system turned into a bomb of some kind.

That weird health and safety thing with Pokémon DX is part of the game. Some GameCube games just had that.
The wii with the bright screen if you have looked at the settings and nothing is turned up loads i would try open it up and check if any caps are leaking. That does sound plausible.

Maybe an odd request, but while looking at the old used Wiis, can you show off the Save Data on the system itself? You showed off the GC Memory Card and that made the rest of the Wiis feel like such a tease lol
I just find it amazing how many Fat PS3's don't work. When I still have my 60GB model, that's been heavily used for years, and it's still working just fine.
I'm not bragging or anything, but it just surprises me.
Those PS3 consoles get that red light when they are full of dust. Sometimes you just need to hook a little vacuum hose up to the air vents on the side of the console by the Blu-ray drive and try and turn the machine on and off a voi
Just keep hitting the power button while the vacuum is on the vent and once the machine turns on you can turn the vacuum off. You'll have to do it every time you restart the console but it may still turn on. I think The red light is just the machine going into an overheat mode

I've noticed that when you get out a 360 with hard drives in them from the haul, you don't check or test with an OG xbox game to see if they're the official ones or not.
I have a question about the ps5 slim and was hoping you could answer! So, if I am using the minecraft disk and the wifi cuts out while Im playing minecraft, would the game corrupt my data? Would I lose some progress? What would happen.
the dark video wii is a bad capacitor on the video out, if you leave it a while the screen will brighten up. REMEMBER TO TWIST THE CAPS OF LEST YOU PULL THE SOLDER PADS. happened to mattKC but he just managed to fix it by putting the cap on diagonally.
The reason so many have Wii sports is because it came in that paper case and people probably destroyed that and just left it in to keep it out of the way

I know the Videos is by now already a few days old, but 99% if a Wii has a dark / blacked menu like the first wii then its most likely bad cap at the AV chip. simple relacement will fix it. If it wont, the AV chip is damaged but thats very rare!

That Wii that had the Pokemon GC game inside it with the messed up Video? That one can be fixed by replacing the capacitors on the motherboard. There are 5 for the AV signal and 1 for the USB ports, making 6 in total. That should be the only thing wrong with that Wii with the bad video
