Feel bad for your son! Les Claypool is considered one of the best bass players ever and his unique style takes accomplished players a long time to perfect!
Imagine. Les Claypool auditioned for Metallica after Cliff died (he went to school with Kirk Hammett) .. James Hetfiield, after his audition: . "Hey man, I think you got your own thing going on.:"
wynonas big brown beaver and jerry was a race car driver are two primus staples. damn blue collar tweakers is another good one. just a few to start with.
Agreed, these (along with My name is Mud) would be a great next step in Primus for him. Also, if you are going to listen to Wynona's big Brown Beaver, you need to watch the official video.
Great reaction, I love that you do other bands and songs that the other channels aren't doing because like you said there's some really great music out there. I remember the other morning you said you done some Primus so I was eagerly waiting and you didn't disappoint. Check out "My Name is Mud" by them. Thanks again for a great reaction video.
Thank you SO much for listening to one of my requests! And the shoutout! I thought you might like Primus, very groovy group. Great reaction, Very happy you enjoyed it 👍🤗, love your channel ❤️
Gail T thank you 😊 I appreciate the help. Peace ✌️
The studio version features Tom Waits on the verses. If you want oddball, check out some Tom Waits. Pretty standard singer-songwriter type stuff, but with one of the most unique voices you'll ever hear.
Step Right Up is still a favorite of mine.
Primus Sucks!(and that's a good thing). Future suggestions: To Defy The Laws Of Tradition, Those Damn Blue Collar Tweakers, Mr Krinkle, Southbound Pachyderm.
Definitely southbound pachyderm
This a great reaction, we need more Primus ! love the Bowie T shirt man :) much respect bro!!
"Son, you have a month to learn how to simultaneously play two bass lines while slapping out the most bodacious bass rhythm in history. Good luck!"
DroverChicago we were just laughing at that last night 😂 two years later he sort of knows it 😆 ✌️
❤ PRIMUS!
❤ RRT! Great reaction! Made my day✌
He's gonna need more than a month ahah
justplainskill idk man my boys pretty quick study maybe I’ll have on and see if he even gets close to it 😃 Peace ✌️
Killing it bro! Keep it up RRT!
Other Primus songs make more sense but aren't any less weird. There is a good live video of My Name Is Mud on youtube you should check out. Please do more Primus.
Who listens to Primus, only fishermen blue collared tweekers laquer heads and me.
Mr krinkle listens to them
Keep on fishing till your brain goes pop!
I remember when I was 15 and my dad wanted me to learn Over the Hills and Far away by Led Zeppelin. So I bought a Tab book at my local music store on a rainy day. I remember that day and Im 36 now. I learned it and he was proud good times.
best bass player i can think of. good shit yo
Thanks for reminding how much I liked Primus.
Yes! More Primus please.
Mesmerizing! RRT, I'm envious of your ability to do the Donald Duck voice.
Michelle Zewe 😆
I also do a mean Elvis 🕺
@@themightyfp Wear the black leather 1968 "Comeback Special" suit!

Wynona's Big Brown Beaver is an odd Primus song.
Take the music video for that one, trust me on that. It's by far the craziest thing you'll ever see..
All Primus songs are odd...end of...period.
Same as you heard about primus a long time ago but never listened to them. Enjoyed this one will listen to a few more now. Upsidedown smile by Cecil for metal Monday please
That guy was just going off on that bass. So awesome! Thanks to Gail & RRT!
Primus - Jerry Was A Race Car Driver
That a bass playing be ach. Much luv
Raised same as you man so I get it. First time I saw a Tarzan movie, I was like, "yeah, and...?"
No seriously, you're one of the funniest, articulate dudes doing this kinda thing. Would love some more Iron Maiden on a live day. With Bruce singing... yeah yeah, it's all cool to like the other guys, but Bruce just sounds right for the band, survives cancer. Throat cancer his voice survives. Goes on tour next year, and this year sounds better than ever so fuck that hehehe (no I love Paul singing 'Purgatory' for what it's worth).
That, Alice in Chains... Maybe Danzig... Otherwise just digging the channel man, good job 🤘
Oh maybe be fair and give your son 3 weeks for the whole thing with the transitions and stuff!
claypool not only was told he was too good for metallica,by metallica.he also did a show with bootsie collins and had him in awe.you know your good when a funk guitarist is in awe...js
Tear it up son! "Do not look down by meshuggah " is a good one
This music makes me smile too, good thing I'm not on camera
I saw Primus and Mastadon in concert in July. Both bands were all killer and no filler. I'm going to the Machine Head concert tonight.
You should really do Them damn blue collar tweakers live by these guys as well. Great song
Finally some primus!!
groove as f...! love it.
Good one!!!!
"Those Damn Blue Collar Tweakers", "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver", "Jerry Was a Racecar Driver". Hell, the theme to "South Park". Saw Primus and fIREHOSE on the same bill at Red Rocks, after they quit feuding. Bass heaven! Mike Watt and Les Claypool together?! Awesome!
You should also check out - if you haven't already - My Name is Mud. Hell of a rhythm line on that.
Primus is an unclassifiable band. I'll suggest something I haven't seen suggested yet, "DMV". Another awesome bass riff and a subject that most of us can relate to.
I’ve seen Primus live in Philadelphia, they were amazing!!! You should check out their song “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver!”
Yes! Love Primus live! If you are doing more Primus, check out “Southbound Pachyderm”. 🤟🔥🤟
primus is awesome. good video to react to.
Lee Claypool is a bad ass on the bass for sure
Les can sure play the shit out of that bass guitar! One of the greats.
RRT hello bro great reaction hell hell kill that bass on tommy was racer driver two love the reaction i wont see your boy kill this to that be killer well later bro
I think it would be so cool to have a day on your channel where you turn the tables and play shit that you love for US so that you give your viewers a musical education as well! I'd love to hear some new, good stuff and your enthusiasm wld turn lots of new people on to what you love! The lines of communication is open and I think people would like it!!!
I remember it cracked me up. Back in the old like Windows 98 version of the media player they had a pull down menu for genres and on that menu it said Primus. lol Also, they have Tommy the Cat on Rocksmith if your son has it. Really helps learning.
THAAAAAAAANNNKK YOOOOUUUUUU!!!!
Hahaha.. I thought I was the only who gave random music assignments to my son on the internet.. :P
Yeahhh Primus!!!!!!❤️
welcome to the weird side of rock :)
01:48 Dude, did you put an effect on your voice here (or huffed helium)... or do you have that much vocal range. That was impressive!
Would you please do The Black Crowes' "Cursed Diamond" or "Seeing Things"?
GOAT bassist
Sevendust - Dirty (Official Music Video) Great band, great song
Les Claypool is an AMAZING bassist & artist! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this one! Good choice!
NICE! Primus is FUNKY
hey have you ever heard king gizzard and the lizard wizard? theyre great especially live. they did great performances on kexp.
i recomend The Lord of Lightning, Sleep Drifter, Billabong Valley and Nuclear Fusion.
Everyone can agree that you would love
Primus - jerry was a racecar driver
Tommy the cat....amazing!
The Bowie shirt rocks dude
john rogan 😃 thanks
I think you did some Buckethead. I saw him live and he has Primus current drummer with him. Great stuff! I wish Buckethead and Les Claypool collaborated on something.
Hey there RRT, how are you? I'm good, and being peace. Just wanted to shout out to you before I go to lullabye land. zzzz Hope you have a great Friday! Peace!
If that doesn't make you want to pick up whatever instrument you play, nothing will! I knew you'd dig that RRT. Check out " frizzle fry", " ground hog day", or " Jerry was a race car driver"... Does anyone remember that the guitarist Larry LaLonde used to be in the death metal band possessed? Kinda funny.
If you like Buckethead and you like Primus . . . they've played together a bunch of times.
As for Primus, they made some of the greatest videos ever.
Les Claypool is a GOAT when it comes to the Bass.
I'm so glad you found you some Primus.
A good WTF WEDNESDAY suggestion is, Mr. Krinkle by Primus. Jerry Was A Racecar Driver 👍👍was the first Primus song/video I had ever seen/heard, it was a game changer.
More primus!!!!!!!!!
Primus are unique, I saw them live many years ago supporting Rush. Please react to Primus - Wynonas big brown beaver
Metalhead here but I’ll love to see you react to Charlie Daniels the devil went down to Georgia. a live version of it ...I apologize that I don’t have a link but it’s worth watching whether you record it or not I think you’ll like it !!it’s fucking awesome!!!! He plays a mean ass fiddle 🤘🏼
Is that a David Bowie Tshirt that you are wearing? Love the shirt!!! Very cool! Of all of the new music that you've listened to, is there anything that you've reviewed that you now listen to on your own?
R R Not too much but only cause I want to experience it here on my channel but for the first time.there are a couple of songs I’ve added to my playlist DIO is one for sure
Yes David Bowie shirt and queen I’ve listen to a few times since. There’s so much great music 😃
@@themightyfp THERE IS! And if you are a creative person, music is the viscera that holds our flesh together! I know this sounds old as fuck but alot of the new stuff I've found is GARBAGE! So VERY cool of you to go on this journey of discovery.
@@themightyfp YOU WOOOORK!!!! LOLOLOL That's awesome! I've watched a few of your videos and DIO is NOT the band I would've thought you'd listen to on your own! RESPECT!
@@themightyfp I was lucky enough that my dad was a musician and am mixed race so I was exposed to a huge spectrum of sound (sometimes MUCH too much) eventhough my geography dictated that I should be a B-girl for life. At the age of 5, one of my first 45 singles (in 1981; I know, Im old) was Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust"....that bass line!!!
HELL YEAH!!! If you do more Primus - ANTIPOP!!! There's also a "supergroup" called Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains that includes Les the bassist from Primus with BUCKETHEAD on guitar, check 'em out!!!
The Offspring-Come Out And Play - 7/23/1999 - Woodstock 99 East Stage (Official)
Artist: Primus
Song: Pudding Time
Album: Frizzle Fry
Same album, Toys.
Dude 😎DUDE THIN LIZZY the BOYS Are BACK in TOWN😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎😎😎 One Of the all time great rock n roll songs😎
Check out Groundhogs Day from the same Bonaroo 2011 show. Fucking awesome
I always thought that Primus was a "Saturday morning cartoon" set to music
Sorry how are things going? Thank you for the time and work your putting in. I am a fan of Primus. Les Claypool is the best bassist EVER... I was hoping to direct a question to you if you don’t mind. Scene you have started this channel what band or singer would you say has become your personal favorite? As in a band that was suggested and you hadn’t heard them.
uniqueone2731 Dio probably stands out the most and is always a great show. But Nina Simone although I only did one I dam near cried I could hear it in her voice that she felt it. But yea Dio.

Please and thank you
PRIMUS MY NAME IS MUD
Don't know about that, man.... Mud is one of those things where months later I'm drumming my fingers on a table, bored out of my mind somewhere and *horror* there's the bassline! AHHHHHHH!
Les Claypool is an absolute freaking BEAST on the bass. He auditioned for Metallica after Cliff died...James Hetfield said he was way too good for them....and probably a little too weird lol
Primus is my favorite band. I'd recommend Mr.Know it all, Pudding time or Professor Nutbutters house of treats.
It's a little more off the beaten path of Primus "hits" but they are all great.
wynona's big brown beaver official music video would make a superb reaction video lmao
Love Primus. Should react to their songs like Jerry Was a Racecar Driver or Wyonas big brown Beaver
Just FYI, "Primus Sucks" is an in joke among big Primus fans. It's a sarcastic expression of love for the band.
I'm used to bad live performance videos being recommended for reaction channels, but this was actually a really great live version of the song I hadn't heard before. Les' vocals weren't great, but musically they killed it and the crowd was into it too.
Sgt. Baker and Jerry Was a Racecar Driver are two other great tracks from this album.
What Up RRT, there's a video, checkout Jilly's on smack LIVE.
Primus is very often a love-it-or-hate-it thing. Jerry Was a Race Car Driver is a great choice from them, glad you liked.
seen primus twice .... both times in berkeley and they slayed. les claypool is an animal. he rips the asshole outta that bass every time.
Les Claypool and Buckethead did some crazy jamming together. Its on utube.
I love primus. Do yourself a favor and check out the album pork soda if youre interested in what they're all about.
My paisano Larry Lalonde is an underrated guitarist, as well.
May I suggest Peeping Tom - Mojo? Hard to describe what it is...leans more to the hip hop/ rock sound. Features the vocalist Mike Patton. Cool ass song. 🤘
Primus - Over the falls
hopefully that bass line is within your son's zone of proximal development lol
anon we will see 😃
Really cool bass line, i enjoyed.
You should think about make a Pink Floyd week, guaranteed that would beat 10k subs before friday.
On metal day: Nile Song and Money
WTF day: Have a Cigar and Pigs (three different ones)
Live day: "Echoes" live in pompei 1972 and "Let There Be More Light" bouton rouge 1968.
Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Pink floyd, 3 best bands of all times, two of them blocks almost everything on youtube and Pink Floyd you avoid, you really should check what they have to show.
Vinicius Nascimento your absolutely right but I probably won’t get to Pink Floyd till November but I definitely will do it. Thanks
Live Metallica video in Moscow! A must watch!
2 weeks men..???, took me 6 years to manage it 😄
XYZ 1973 😂
Primus is polarizing, some people just can’t stand it, others are totally in to their unique sound. Considered “Funk Metal”. Les Claypool is the singer and also considered to be one of the top Bass Players in the world. They have had several good albums. I would recommend “Wynonas Big Brown Beaver” (Studio) or Laquerhead. Claypool is a huge Rush fan, and he played at their induction to the HOF. Primus will be on a North American tour featuring the entire 1977 album “a farewell to kings” as a tribute to Rush, specifically Neil Peart who passed away in January of this year. Their self proclaimed motto is “ Primus Sucks”!
That has to be the least interrupted video reaction ever
Wes Weldon 😃
Primus does the theme song for "South Park" too.
Boston Dont look back
Mr Bungle - Quote Unquote
Please check out Meytal : Shadow in disguise..thank you
Steely dan peg is a beautiful one
2 weeks!? Give him 2 years! Claypool is a bass genius!
