Over my decades of touring I became friends with Michell. To say he was an incredible as a pianist is an understatement. To say he was my friend was an honor and a privilege. Loved him dearly…

It will always astonish me just how powerful natural, musical talent really is, and how much pain some people can endure.

I saw him play in Edmonton. The bass player carried him on stage like a child , his playing knocked everyone out , amazing player !

Fantastic. Michel is a massive inspiration to me as a musician and for his indomitable spirit. He played like no one else. I have never seen anyone else pour out their heart and soul as fully and unreservedly as he does on the piano, and it's thrilling to hear. One of my favorite performances is a jam he performed with Al Jarreau - they were like two live wires on stage!

Thank you 🙏🏼. I have been with this wizard of a musician, this wizard of a human being for about 30 years, I hope to enjoy and cherish his spirit for another 30 if I’m super fortunate. Thank you again for this superb look into this tragic but beautiful life. You have given a huge gift to the future with this biography. 🙏🏼

Talent, working at an immense pace, and multiple women? Like the great Jacques Brel once said: "It's not the length of your life that counts, it's the intensity."

A more proximate savior would be national health policies.
