    Just got this board (haven't installed it yet waiting on custom cables), I got it mainly for the 2 19-pin USB headers so I can eliminate an expansion card for the FP USB connectors (Corsair 7000D has 4 USB 3.x ports). I like the look of this board as well, it's sleek and not too flashy. Good quick review of the board and it's features.

    This might be a dumb question but does the Dark Rock Pro 4 fit on this motherboard? The MSI website says this motherboard is optimized for water-cooling, the dragon IO looks pretty big.

    Regarding USB4 and USB3.2 Gen2x2, the first is supposed to be 40Gbps and the second is 20Gbps. And where I live (Japan), the majority of X670E don't have USB4 (7/21 to be precise) and pretty much every single one (16/21) has at least one USB3.2 gen2x2 port (those who have USB4 ALL have one USB3.2gen2x2 as well) so I don't understand what you say regarding USB3.2 gen2x2 being rare compared to USB4...

    If I want max storage without decreasing bandwidth to PCIe 1, which slots would I install my M.2 SSDs? Also would any SATA ports be disabled if using any M.2 slots? I want to maintain x16 in PCIe 1.

    • @tambo0154
      @tambo0154 Před 10 měsíci

      It shouldn't matter where you put the M.2 drive, but you would be better placing it in one of the 2 Gen4 slots at the bottom of the motherboard, and leave the Gen5 slots available for future expansion of Gen5 M.2 drives..
      Although the M.2 Gen 4 slots and SATA ports connect to the chipset, you will not lose any SATA ports if the M.2 Gen 4 ports are populated.
      The M.2 Gen5 slots connect directly to the CPU.

    Doing my first ever PC build and chose this motherboard.
    Two questions:
    1. Where and how do I access the CMOS battery if i ever want to relace it?
    2. I'm starting off with only one Gen3. M.2 drive, which I'll use for the OS only and install a sata SSD later once up and running. Does it matter which M.2 slot i put the single m.2 drive in? Might add more later....

    • @tambo0154
      @tambo0154 Před 10 měsíci +2

      1. According to the manual, the CMOS battery is situated underneath the large VRM heatsink, just behind the rear audio ports. As CMOS batteries normally last about 10 years, probably nothing to worry about for now.
      2. It shouldn't matter where you put the M.2 drive, but you would be better placing it in one of the 2 Gen4 slots at the bottom of the motherboard, and leave the Gen5 slots available for future expansion of Gen5 M.2 drives.

      Hi i wantt to take this board with mp700= 5.0 nvm ssd in the first slot (5.0)
      And i will take second nvm 4.0: can i put this one in the first chipset slot?
      Another question:
      Can i use 4.0 nvm in the 5.0 slot?
      You are saying:
      If you take 4.0 nvm put it in the chipset slots: will that differ in performence?
      I am wondering every configuration of thw board.

    • @Vannellus
      @Vannellus Před 9 měsíci +2

      None of the M.2 slots share lanes with PCIe_1/2 slots (the best feature of this board). PCIe_1 runs at x8, if you use something in PCIe_2.

      @@CodeineCrazy999 Funny. I bought this board last week and use 2 M.2s. and I'm super satisfied. It runs smooth and stable. Nice sound adjustments with Realtek App. Boots in 8 seconds to Win11 even with activated EXPO profile.

    @Bjoern69 Před 9 měsíci

    Probably a good board. But how are the boot times? Some users report that the Windows boot time is very long. Furthermore, the position of the battery is very badly chosen. You have to remove the whole cooler to get to the battery and it is not a standard battery. I would be happy about an answer. Thanks for the video and the test.
