Douglas became more and more adorable after the first series. As well, Diana loosened up enough to allow herself to be seen as matronly. Her heart wasn’t really in it during series 1, and she came across as a really bad actor. But she certainly got her second wind after. They’re all good actors really. Maybe the first series scripts simply sucked.
I would imagine she was having problems with Alan Lake and his drinking at the time and was also disillusioned a bit with her career having gone downhill from her heyday, so she probably had a lot on her mind
It’s quite endearing for saying it’s pretty poorly made. Diana Dors was better than this show which looked as if it cost £2 per episode to film.😄 I do remember thinking it was really funny as a kid though. And that’s what matters, isn’t it?
I've just bought all three series of this dreadful comedy. I loved most of the sit-comsback then, but this one was dismal. No wonder I could barely remember it.
Another good episode
The milkman also had a role as a worker in the toilet factory in Carry on at Your Convenience.
Pretty bad I guess but the GREAT Diana Dors makes it worth it. Wonderful actress, wonderful woman.
It sounds like someone finally woke up the audience up in this episode.
That's a conga eel. They like shipwrecks very sharp teeth.
