i just wanted to mention that angelic armor is an undervalued piece of the set...at least for leveling. OFC you're already going to be using the rings and amulet. But, the armor adds 200+ defense, 50 mana, 50 FR, +1 all skills, and 50 mf per ring. i mean, that's pretty damned good imo. The only better armor(other than like, twinked gear with damage jewels), is stealth, and that's only IF you need the FCR to reach the next breakpoint. Otherwise, angelic armor is waaaay better. If you're not a caster, it's a no brainer. A lot of times, I use it on casters anyways, because the life/defense bonuses make it a lot safer for HC than cast speed builds.
Full angelic and full deaths disguise, sigs boots/helmet or catharsis mask/ring slaps at lvl 12
The Natalya Set is quite strong for Martial Arts, I use it with Bartucs offhand. And the Griswold set is quite strong too but unfortunately is quite rare to get. I have not much good to say about Aldurs though
For IK I like Concentrate/Whirlwind. For Mavina I do Strafe/Magic Arrow with Freezing Arrow. For Tals I think Fireball/Meteor with Frozen Orb works great. And Trangs also very nice with Poison Nova and Summons. One thing about Trangs is make sure to Walk instead of Run, since they go the same speed on the ghoul form, and Walking will preserve your block chance, which is very useful

Iratha's set is pretty good for an early-mid Javazon, especially since it leaves so many slots open,
Agree with all 4, love them all. My WW barb rocked IK until I had my griefs made, my Blizz Sorc still rocks Tals and my Summon Necro is still in a Trang set. Only reason I don't have full Mavina yet is I haven't dropped all the pieces and made myself a bow sorc yet. Great video Phil!
Great video! I like Sigon's set for starting a paladin
Only gripe with sigons is the rather high str requirement early on. Set is like, level 3 requirements but impossible to wear until like level 7 or 8 cause of the str requirement.
You can wear a few str charms. I usually larzuk the shield for a perfect diamond, but a knock back rune could work too. Of course everything upgraded to exceptional.
Works great on any melee.
And two Cathan rings for LL, those stack.
Beat me to it. Was gonna suggest Sigons. A great and greatly overlooked set, imo. Carries any melee char up to hell. Sigon with two 30% Nagelrings is usually my starterset for any char that will go up to 75 and above strength anyways. And with the 110 additional MF your guaranteed to pick up some nice trinkets along the way for other chars while you rush normal and nightmare.
@@seanwayne4603 sigon isn't overlooked, it was pretty popular in the early diablo 2 days. Now with upgrades to exceptional it's easy to play hell act 1 amazon with full (xc) sigon. I dunno about the elite version - str might be a problem.
Angelic ring and amulet + raven frost on IK barb is the way unless you want to use a no freeze rune somewhere in the set..
Always worked for me 20 years ago.

The Hsarus set is the pound for pound GOAT. All the other sets are never best in slot. From level 3-20ish, there is no gear I'd rather have over Hsarus' full set. Cannot be frozen, 20% FRW, an early 12 slot belt, +10 attack rating per level just to mention a few amazing mods. Hsarus' set does not get the love it deserves.
angelic rings and amulet are BIS for many melee builds. Hsaru's belt and boots are great for leveling though... i like it for the AR. I think the cannot be frozen requires the shield, and normally, I can't afford to use the shield.
@@aBanabis What shield are you using early game? Or are you 2 handing? I go 6 flawed topaz crystal sword at level 5 and Hsarus shield.
@@zaug1561 i normally don't use shields, but if i do, it's usually for resistances. and pallies have their own shields that are crazy.. you can get a 4os targe with 40+ res at lvl 3. i don't play pally often though. same with barb. What class are you using the shield with?
@@zaug1561 also I keep Khalim's Will on a mule for leveling. It just requires doing act 3 one extra time. Trust me, it's much better than that crystal sword and u can wear it at lvl 1.
@@aBanabis @aBanabis I start every class with the Hsarus set and that flawed topaz crystal sword until I get to the skill I want to level. Also, how do you give Khalim's Will to a new character? It can't go in shared stash.
Problem with IK is that it deals cold damage and can sometimes explode the corpses you need. Solution : Remove Cold damage from maul and add CBF to Armor
Problem with M'avina is the bow doesn't deal enough damage. Solution : Increased %ED on the bow the more pieces you have
Problem with Thrang is that it fucks over your casting speed with the Ghoul. Solution : Grant a +1 Transform Ghoul instead of forcing in a Ghoul.
Problem with Aldur is the weapon is an Exceptional base. Solution : Was fixed by allowing to increase the quality of set items
No problem with Tal Rasha, super good set.
Problem with Natalya is the Claw. Solution : Make the claw possible to spawn 1-3 skill on it. Would improve the value of the claws as well.
Problem with Griswold is it's good for only 1 build. Solution : Reduce strength requirement on shield too, increase the faster cast rate on a few pieces and give the armor a random aura that ranges level from 10 to 15 when full gear is equipped.
In 15 years of playing D2, as a bowazon enthusiast, I've only ever found Mav's bow, and nothing else. 😞
I was, however, able to find everything I needed for an Ice bow, which is pretty cool. 🥰
Special mention for Sigon's Steel, which I always gifted to new characters who were attack based. Just so solid, and viable thru early NM if you haven't found better gear before then.
Should also mention (unless something changed), Trang moves at run speed while walking.

14:32 Thank you for mentioning this. It's been 20 years and I still cannot understand why people like Blizzard sorceress when it's hits in such a crappy way. It's actually a lot better for single target combat against bosses because they are literally bigger and those random hits actually don't really matter.
Maybe in the future you can show all the piece specific bonuses for longer? Hard to pause when some of the pieces you skim over very quickly or not even at all such as the IK boots. I understand I can just look online, but I want to watch your video and get the best of both worlds of seeing the bonuses AND seeing how they fare in the Diablo wilderness. Love the vids!

Id put IK over M'AVS and raven frost with IK adds CBF and WW Concentrate > WW Berserk
My favorite sets…angelic ammy/ring on any mele character…deaths sash and gloves for the CNBF and massive IAS boost plus other goodies like all res and poison length reduction 75% is crazy good. Oh and honorable mention cows leathers set for mele characters is super good for leveling through the game.
Sigs used to be the best starter set! Must be 20 years now since I played this awesome game!
Huge shortcoming in this video is not showing the character stats. Why wouldn't we want to see if you have max resist or how much damage you do with each set?
IK barb was the first thing I rolled when D2R launched. By day 4 I had it + a torch and just started farming CS like a madman, it was awesome. It makes you super tanky and gives a metric tonn of AR, just perfect for ladder start. Now it's been weakened a bit by recent patches, but still cool. It now needs CBF and caps at 5 fram attacks instead of 4, and also doesn't ignore Decrepify.

@@MrMichaelEsser only very few people can get from clvl1 past hell difficulty in just 4 days, let alone 2 days. Or beat dclone, which is about the same.
For 99.99% of players this is just not possible.
Honestly I wish all of the endgame sets would add +1 Teleport like Enigma just to give everyone a budget option for the effect. Well all but the Tal Rasha set obviously. I do love these sets though. Great at the start of ladder, or solo self found, and can be super viable in Hell. Also most of them are pretty cheap to acquire via trade even early on.

Those are a horrid experience for basically everyone. There should be a MUCH more streamlined way of obtaining this particular Skill for everyone and normally it is Enigma. This makes that much easier to obtain, within normal class identity, and adds value to the sets themselves in a new way. Personally I HATE using teleport charges. It typically means you have to weapon swap which means you resistances or defenses will be compromised, your FCR usually takes a giant hit, and yeah it is a lousy alternative.@@kosterix123

For frenzy barbs the immortal king set is good if you just have the gloves belt and boots only.. Wear the helm too til arreats face drops..
that cold mavina set looks fun. I've never been able to sell a piece of that set on ladder before, so I bet its super easy to gear up. Might give that a try at reset

Really surprised you didnt do a blade sin with nats set. ITD and massive undead and demon damage as well as PDR baked into the set. Its insane for sin for a budget.
Yea you can also throw on the runeword that gives the assassin WW and that works pretty well too if you wanted.
I got IK set many years ago, i was severely disappointed in the lack of dmg it did as it was super hyped up at the time when i was playing D2 back then.

With full Trang set you can set your character to walk instead of run, and your still at run speed and don't lose your defense!
I’ve just started a paladin in normal with clegaws full set, arctic armour and belt and sigons helmet and boots and it’s rocking players 7.
I found a +1 Necro Rare amulet with 2 to Teleport (25/25) charges. Lucky, since I don't have to rely on Enigma while rocking the full Trang's.
IK set is not great for Travs because of the "Freezes target" bonus on the Maul.
Also, if you don't have the cube, you can get it from Travs IIRC
Fully light faceted Griswold Set is also pretty godly for pvp

From my experience Strafe is much better with full Mavs than Freezing arrow, freezing is just good as a secondary attack with strafe as a main attack.

I love Tal's Set. It's honestly on par with most endgame gear setups. Just a really stat dense set of gear with lots of safety
And if you Ist everything her set is the highest MF% set in the game...I use it when I wanna find something for my other characters that I'm building up
the game will not give me the damn tals ammy, I've dropped every rune including zod at least 2x and probably half of the top 10 grail items but still no tals ammy

Necro set can walk instead of run for no speed loss which also means better defense.
i only have the helmet of the necromanger set.
not even a single piece of any of the others you mentioned.
i do have 2 pieces of a set that seems to be for amazons, and my level 20 amazon got a nice increase in power from just those 2 pieces.
You gotta stay walking with trangs, since walk and run are the same speed(while wearing the set), but you get defense when walking, and not running.
honestly all of the 6pc "end game" sets are viable the problem is that they require a lot of effort to get the complete set (especially offline) and there are better options for less effort. For example maven's gets absolutly crushed by even a poorly geared javazon and trang's isen't really much better that a budget fishymancer. So the problem is not so much that they don't work it's that they take way too much effort to complete for something thats not even close to meta, and for the added insult if you are playing online you usually have to overpay to get them because people often don't pick them up (with the exception of the IK set and select pieces like tranq gloves) so when you find one they know they have got you by the balls. This unfortuantly makes these sets more of a just for fun thing in late season than anything else.

mavina set is fun, i take it in cows alot when i get bored of javlin tossin cows i swap in this set, works great, i would put mavina set higher then trangs, though, ive used both extensively trangs is a bit wonky in hell can be squishy vs mavina can go more spots.
With the sorceress he's got to be using a call to arms on his flip to have 2400+ HP its only a ohm still can be hard to find for new people though

If you want a fun mess around with build. Nats set + battle cestus off hand. Physical tiger + blade shield + venom assassin. Just a fun meme physical build assassin.
Having fun with Berserker (clvl 3), Cleglaw (clvl 4) has 35% crushing blow, 50%deadly strike, IAS, Slows 25%!, Hsarus (clvl 3) has can no be frozen! These sets get me thru Normal!
Just because runewords are the best I play online and just started playing offline for the very 1st time ever and I started yesterday and my sorc is already lvl 70 and just killed nitemare baal. I'm doing 1st Grail also it's been so fun

Lotsa players believe you have to have that OP rune word set to really do things. Technically these elite sets are "budget" where only 1 piece each is difficult or expensive. Example is only the armor of tals is expensive at all.
Griswolds with matching rainbow facets paired with a skill is actually absurd
Necromancer set is kind a sick. Really only for cosmetic.
Saigon set is very good for early on.
no firewall or fireball with lower resist for the necro... poison is bugged in the way it does dmg... you almost have to not use a merc or summons for the "ticks" of poison to do dmg

2:10 you should use baal or meph as a dps check, not random mobs that nova sorc can 1-2 shot
You would never farm meph or bosses in general with any of these builds. They don't have teleport except the sorc obviously. "Being better than an infinity nova sorc" isn't my bar to clear in order to use a build.

Is frozen orb comparable to blizzard in tal set? I'm on Ps5 and the targeting of blizzard is dismal.
Full mavinas is dirt cheap and with frozen zons wrecks most areas

I love the ice maiden, Whoever said its not viable I have video to prove other wise lol. Granted I am using high end gear but still its viable enough to manage dclone and prob ubers... (not uber trist but getting the organs). I love the build and have a lot of fun with it.. With mavs yes you wanna stick to certain area farming but if you can afford the higher end gear then there isn't much you won't be able to do.
It is a bit sad that none of them can really compete when work in full, every one has at least one shit aspect that makes a full suit unviable. Tal Rasha weapon, Trang Oul vampire form etc.
I disagree about Tal's weapon. By itself it sucks but with the full set the bonuses are pretty good. I run full Tals and have no issues anywhere in the game. I guess you can kill stuff a millisecond faster with a set up full of high runes.
@@ijustwanttonap The set gives you +4 all skills using helm, weapon, armor and amulet slots - all prime slots. It is pretty bad. Even with uniques you can get +8 and better mf with skullders, mara, shako, oculus.

M'avina and IK were quite kreppi even in so-called D2 Legacy. And Natalya is more than ok set for lazy trapassin build gameplay. Literally nobody likes fissure Aldur druid 'cause it anally DEMANDS running and positioning and literally nobody uses Griswold paladin set just 'cause it never drops anything else except chest armor, I've looted at least 40 of them before collecting the full set.

Diablo 2 is one of the most Mod capable games ever made. I still cant get over why only one set transmorms your character? This game could be even better. I dont see how theyre afraid to add to it when there are so many options of ways to play already. Level 99 shouldnt be the end. And paragon is lazy. I think we shpuld get to choose a skill tree from any class and add to the existing class and continue leveling. Diablo 4 has no left trigger hotbar switch for spells. Im sorry i hate diablo 4 so much. I feel that same effort could have been put into diablo 2. Giving us more content and characters would have been the move.
The items in D2R simply dont look as cool as in regular D2. They changed the colors of everything for some reason
Not so much the colors. the game actually has SHADOWS and actual light reflections now. Makes everything seem different. Good thing you can just swap between the graphics.
