i have to say I miss Skullder's Ire on the list. Its amazing how good this armor is on a mf sorc when you are not rich enough for enigma.

Yes, skullders is an amazing item, the defence alone for a tp sorceress is extremely high and makes it so when tping around through dangerous packs many miss completely.

Yah its definitely an honorable mention. Hell... for an alternative chest for a mf sorc on classic, the angels set without Sword can be a reeeally good way to get a ton of MF with little effort.

from 20 years of d2 experience I'm going with titan's revenge works on any zons weapon swap; it used to be a very common tactic for pvp to help with desynching your guided arrows, commonly combod with a stormshield for added survivability in fights. realistically its a must have in any zons stash.

Thanks for making this video! This made me reconsider what I can do with Arkaine's Valor. Adding a socket with a rare jewel or a facet definitely makes it more versatile as a high end item while working towards a Runeword Chest or BiS armor.

I always find mine in a very weird place, so far I found three Maras since resurrected launched. One from a pot in Stony tomb one from a dead body in cow level and one from a random trash mob in halls of the pain

Great video as always. I am surprised that Raven Frost didn't make the list or honorable mention (oops #13 my mistake). It ends up getting used by practically every non sorceress character until they get enigma. Because I play legit I almost never have Enigma and really almost never have Raven Frost. I am a huge proponent of the Rhyme shield (especially in base @45 Paladin shields). That's 70 @res (no fire res dip like Spirit), Cannot be Frozen, As much MF as you can get in a functional shield, and really good blocking stats for a low dex max block especially with Holy Shield. I really can't praise Rhyme highly enough and people sleep on it and put it down like its C tier. I say its High A tier, with Spirit and HoZ being S tier. Rhyme is a perfectly acceptable Shield for running ubers. Most easily acquired and cheap source of CBF along with all those other benefits. And allows for diversity in the ring slot. Yes please.

List probably needs to be updated. Griffon's eye is now usable for FoH Paladins, Trap Assasins and Martial Art Assasins as well
additionally, I would have loved to see Thundergods, Goldwrap, Sandstorm Treks, and at least Arreats' in Honorable mentions. And I think Wizardspike and/or Suicide Branch would have been good as well.
But I can generally agree. A top 10 list of Uniques is really difficult, as there soo many good items
Addendum for the griffon's: Now great for mosaic sin since seas9n 3 and lihhtning trapsin since season 4 patch.
Yes, recent patches have changed the usefulness of certain items.
I currently have 2 out of these 16 (viper magi and magefist)... Need to do more farming...

The funny thing is that I have or had almost all of these items (except for arachnid mesh, SoJ, Mara and Shako) some of them I still keep in my stash, and others were sold because they didn't fit my build, I have 3 raven frosts, 2 andariels visage. But I never found a single damn unique javelin for my amazon.
I have the skin of viper magi on my bonemancer. Good stuff.

It's telling that no melee weapons made it on here; Grief and the other OP runewords have disrupted the game so much. It would be nice to see things evened up a bit in a future patch.

Jang Bong War Staff was my favorite sorc item pre xpac
There's a difference in a skill granted by an item that says it procs on 'striking' , which requires a physical melee strike, and on one that says it procs 'on attack' which will activate with spells belonging to mages like the Sorc, and this is why the hellfire on a Hellfire Torch (which is on striking) doesn't work with mage spells.
Personally, I would consider Annihilus in the top list.....but that's just me. :P
More of an event item but yes they are of course very good.
I consider it an event item because you always get it from x source no matter what, same with the torch.
Both very good items but they don't need to be on lists like this.

i havent found one shako yet i honestly can't believe it i have a level 95 sorc 89 barb and 88 pal and have done shit loads of farming with my sorc. Had most items on here apart from shako. so weird and as for Mara's funny thing.. i was looking for that little f.cker for so long and then thought im never gonna get one. and the other day it popped out of a freakin chest in LK couldn't believe it
another weird thing. have never got a gull dagger. and wanted one so bad, no check this weird one out... i got two bald of ali baba's on the same drop off meph!?! this game has the weirdest RNG for me i swear
I started play D2R since release - all seasons in, including current one, about 7-8 characters 85-93lvl, dont get a single Shako H.Crest yet.😅
But today got a Windhammer with pretty good roll - 221%(180-230 range).
First one since release.
Runes drops also pretty poor for me - 1 Mal, 2 UM, 1 Pul, 4-5 Lems,and lower ones.
No Ist, no Gul, no Vex, no Ohm in current season.
My crown rolled 1 socket 😞. Back to farming haha
As a Hardcore Player i miss honestly Stormshield here cause its by far the best Shield for any Class besides Paladins or Necros

I'm bummed. Upon dying, in Hell difficulty, I lost my main weapon: the kuko shakaku bow. Now, I'm trying to repeatedly farm Thresh Socket, hoping that it drops again. There's conflicting opinions as to whether a unique will drop twice, in the same playthrough. I figured it out... the bow essentially accounted for about 25+ levels, due to what it added. Hell was hard enough, with it... and now, without?
If you farm the right monsters enough the item will always fall. Might take a thousand runs but it will eventually.
In the meantime you will get some nice loot in the process

The tomb reaver is great for a cold sorc most of the cold imm are undead.. I have never used an infinity because I run cold all the time
And haven’t found another tomb reaver in😅 my colds merc using a reaper non e but he wipes the ones I need him too
My loyalty to Tal Rasha's set on my cold Sorc. really screws me out of this list. Merc with Infiniti and G face does too. 😂

I think now with the changes made since he made this video I have to put Griffons Eye in the top 10. 3 of the most played and S tier builds use it…trapsin, lightning based javazon, and lightning/nova sorc. Yes the Druid, Barb and Necro don’t have use for it but come on. It s a top 10 item.
This was made before sunders pretty sure and since sunders it has become more universal.
If I was to make a listing today yes griffons would make the cut now.

I love this but why not make a top 16 for items of each tier one for tier 1 one for tier 2 (including any tier 1 upgrades) and one for the tier 3 (including all possible upgrades)

I played d2o and I love vids like this, I’m over leveling to have a better time than I did as a kid. My biggest thing is why are all these vids about endgame? Im also trying to find what to do on a normal run after 13 years of not playing lol

Ya know I think I'm the only D2 player ever to hate the runewords. So many of the most incredible unique and set items were easily replaced by runewords and rune drops just don't make my heart flutter like unique farming does
Before LoD uniques were more powerful, and even during LoD before all the ridiculous runewords were added some of the uniques were still bis.

I got a magefist to drop from one of the baal waves.
The one item i would push back on is Griffons. Its not like DWeb thats god tier for just one build, its literally BiS for at least 3 of the strongest PvE builds in the game and a very, very strong option on some others as well. It may not offer the general usefulness of a Shako or Gores, but it makes up for that in sheer quality.
Dream paladin can't use it, bis for lightning sorc, lightning zon doesn't need it but it's nice. When I made this video trapsin couldn't use it, this has changed. Martial arts sin also was bad lol. FoH is more about Holy bolt damage than lightning, bad choice. It is BiS for a native use holy shock paladin but no one does that because of dreams.
In general it's far less useful and more specific to a small handful of builds.
But recent patches have changed things, MA sin changes and Trapsin changes would seem it to rise.
But MA sin doesn't need to, I did a full season without never cared for negative resistance on that character. She is already so strong and so multi elemental she doesn't need to focus like that.

Verdungo''s and Stormshield are must in this list
As great as Stormshield is, it is more often than not replaced by a shield that has + skills.
Exile, spirit, Dream, Phoenix, Jmod Shield, Headhunters glory triple faceted.
The fact of the matter is people more often than not choose another shield over Stormshield almost every single time.
As for Verdungo's, the same thing really, people use razor tail, tgods vigor, string of ears, snowclash, Goldwrap, deaths sash, trangs belt, and many other choices including crafted caster belts.
It's a damn good belt it just didn't make top 16.
Both Verdungo's and SS suffer from the same issue as well, they are entirely defensive items. With exception to hardcore, people tend to prefer offensive items.

I like Arkaines Valor but honestly no one wears it over enigma or chains of honor. i would have picked griphons in this list over arkaines any day. makes no sense.
I see Arkaines used in plenty of builds since sunder charms. Getting one extra Facet is important. Arkaines is the only armor that lets you have another facet and keep +2 skills. I stand by this choice 100%.
Chains is great, I love it but when I am trying to eek out a bit of extra damage from an elemental build it doesn't allow me to do that.
Enigma is a choice to deliberately go with a weaker armor for the sake of speed.
As for Griffons Eye Diadem
It was less universal when I made this video. It didn't work with traps, and it was only BiS for a few builds.
Then they fixed the issues preventing it from working with traps and other stuff like mosaic sin, Which opened it up a lot more, and it became a more widely used unique.
If I remade this list today it would definitely have a spot.

Lo is a rare rune, it drops pretty much anywhere in hell but extremely rarely.
I got mine on my barb in single player running Sewers Level 2 Super chests in Act 3.

I found an ethreal deaths fathom on single player plugy. Then my freaking character file corrupted. Guess it wouldnt matter now anyway that d2r is out.

There is one in my item pack if you want to restore it to your hands.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to exclude items that are only good for a few classes or builds. When i pick items for a character I don't care if those items are also good for other characters. I care about what is best for the character that is using it.
I call cap. The amount of builds that utilize an item doesn't make it a "top" item. Then full rejuvs would be the #1 item in the game. They are also often much more exciting to find than a raven frost.
How come I find rare rings that have plus skills to other classes, except for paladin...
I feel like any ring that gives plus all skills to any class, that specific class is a sub par class like assassin or barbarian.
I have 2 rings 1 to Amazon skills and 1 to assassin skills.
Ngl i would have love to see Ali baba somewhere in higher end 😅 purely again all class Can use as a mf switch.

I use an andariels on my bowazon with a IAS jewel with damage. I just eat the negative fire resist and use some charms to help it. It's been great for me.

do u ever try pure holy shock paladin not with dream. just put6 facet pb, 4 socket armor with facets, diadem with facet, and shield with 4 facets or better shield with ofensive auras and facets. u have a lot enemy resistence and around 50-60k dmg on zeal and 5k dmg per holy shock aura, with new sunder charm and off skillers all die mutch more faster, not even neeed conv aura and u slay all more fast than dreamdin

Yes they are and I never said they weren't.
I would shade out Mara's and put Harlequin in no 1 instead. It says a lot that nearly all of my endgame characters wear a shako. Res all on mara is important but becomes less important the richer you get (charms and such). The problem with mara is only two important attributes. It is great but not no 1 imho.
Basically none of my end game characters wear a shako. As I explained in the video Shako is Basically never best in slot for any build. There is always a better helmet that you could be wearing. Griffons, Nightwings Veil, Crown of Ages, ect.
It's a nice hat but it's completely outclassed by other options, and the only thing it really has going for it is Magic Find which can be gotten easier elsewhere.
@@GGMentor Maybe i am biased because i try to give as much MF to every character as i can. They are bis for MF builds. They also have the advantage over rare helms in that they boost CTA shouts.
I would also say they have the edge over Griffin or Flickering in hardcore builds (another bias of mine as i only play hc).
@@Parasmunt you realistically don't need more than 200% magic find on any character. Diminishing returns set in very fast and it's been agreed pretty much universally that anything over 200% is mostly a waste unless it's free(no diminished kill capacity or defensive stats)
In HC I can understand why you would choose shako, but then again I feel there are better options defensively.
Also and I can't stress this enough HC has different rules, and this entire list would be different if I was doing a HC list.
I don't know much about d2 unique gear. So question does Diablo 2 have any funny jokes weapons and gear? In d3 for example you can get a hamburger 🍔 dagger 🗡️ called the Horadric Hamburger.

Magefist : +1 sor fire skill +20 faster cast
Ginger : one of the best
Death's fathom is not good, the Lightning Skill Damage, and Fire Skill Damage are basically useless due to how they interact with Fire Mastery, and Lightning Mastery.
Other than That Death's Fathom is inferior to a lot of other items you can put in that same slot.
Conversely Mage Fists are the only gloves with +1 fire skills with no competition. They are also one of only 2 gloves with Faster cast rate.
So yes Magefists one of the best.
Death's Fathom Sucks balls.
Valor and razortail, no. Vampire gaze, string of ears are both more useful imho. Also, no stormshield?
Vamp gaze, string of ears, and Stormshield are all very nice items, they just didn't make it into the top 16.

My item pack has every single unique item in the game, as well as every single runeword, base item, misc items, and even items that don't or shouldn't exist

I talked about griffons at the beginning, it's a great piece but extremely niche.
Only two builds in the entire game use it.
Where as multiple builds over multiple characters use razor tail.
The other thing which I explained at the start is extremely niche items were left out of the rankings.
This ranking is about an items overall usefulness.
razortail is versatile.....that new......
Such a shame that all these incredible items have been made semi redundant due to rune words.
