Sorry I don’t like your shower … it must be ready to use early in the morning and late at night
Is there a full video on the van with the middle column shower?
The best shower design that I came across is a shower/closet combo at the left of the sliding door entrance. The closet pulls out over the dead space of the entrance and opens up the shower space. Very creative use of space
great idea
Absolutely agree and with a slide out toilet it would even be bigger... 🤓
czcams.com/users/shortsmdkHqcLv6os?si=UGuvCU2mgOOBRPin
Totally agree 👍👍
is it the guy that builds vans in a suit? i cant get that solution out of my mind!
The one with the closet in the shower area is beyond clever! If they had a slide out toilet it could even be bigger!
She said it was a toilet too!
@@LornaKelso but no slide-out toilet
@neglectedloves Could put the inset closet on top with a false front at bottom. Open it and use the toilet. Then the toilet (I love a dry toilet) could be on a pedestal and swing out as well. Have a couple of pool noodles to keep water in, bring around a shower curtain... voila!
I LOVE the recirculating shower as well as the one that doubled as a closet. It's so cool seeing how creative people can get with their builds.
Do they have a switch so that after you can rinse off with new water?
The shower and closet design is an efficient use of space
10:40 only the bathroom I approve. tottaly separated. never eat where u poop!
I don't see the middle column shower link listed on the description. Would love to see that van tour.
Same
I came to say the same thing. Where’s a link to that tour?
czcams.com/video/z7Oo1qwq1oA/video.html
Wasn't it the one where the bedroom has steps in the middle of the van....I see it...TOO CLEVER...IT'S #6
It would be great if you could link the full van tours for all these clips
Will get on it and add to the description now!
Thanks Nate, that would be great! ❤
@@NateMurphy, I couldn't find the links, have you added them yet?
@@Panmail See description!
@@NateMurphydo you have a link for the van with the shower in the middle of the van?
Our system is as follows: The thetford cassette toilet is in the front with a round barrel door (because I wanted round) and the shower hot water system is in the garage on a slide out. It is also detachable, with a small gas cylinder and can be placed on a tripod anywhere. The long hose can be put into a river where it is sucked up, filtered and used wherever. Even under a tree. Our van was converted by my husband. We are both nearly 70 years old.
Do you have picture of the shower system and info on the water filtration? This sounds amazing!!
So many inventive shower solutions, I still think the best one is the shower/toilet behind the cab passthrough where the the whole room gets pulled out and doubles in size when you use it.
The best I've seen so far was a circular train in the centre of the van floor. It was covered up when not in use. Shower head and fixtures wer in the centre of the roof. When a shower was needed removable/ detachable curtain rod was attached around and Away you go. It only took up space when used
Amazing diversity of ideas, I like them all, from the pump action pesticide spray (!), to the recirculating, heated, drying/wet room.
Great content. I think I would want a combination of several ideas...your kitchen counter/shower conversion (Great idea there) with a recirculating shower system and instead of a shower curtain, a squeegee sliding door.
Super idea with that corner.
Your kitchen/shower solution is actually genius for smaller vans. Good you opened with that. I do think you need a bug screen because that fly is driving me crazy.
Haha yeh you could be right about the bug screen!
I like it. But when I thought about it I can see how people want still the bathroom and kitchen separate 😂
Brilliant shower unit in your van, Nate! Minimal fuss setting up. Space is usable for another function. Shower curtain is minimal size, which means minimal drying time. Bri😊lliant! G Ire
that shower and toilet solution is genius! that's just what I needed to see before choosing my van as I need to stay small ie- connect sort of size. Thanks.
Some ingenious solutions Nate, thanks for compiling them.. I think the final choice would depend on the user.... whether you are single/couple, into watersports, on holiday or using a van as base when travelling for work, young and energetic or senior prioritising ease of use, into socialising or liking a place to get away, whether van is big or small.... Form follows function, as they say!
Totally agree! My first 2 vans I just showered out the back, which for me at that time was perfect and all I needed. Glad you enjoyed the film!
Filtration filters are the best kind of filters 😜
The shower/closet combo is so clever and my favourite of all I've seen
But would that prevent the drying of the water?
Loving this!
Mind blown by the first setup.love it.
I would combine some of these. Recirculation, absolutely. I like the kitchen counter/flip up shower wall idea, but I would put a regular curtain across it and just have it fold down when the wall went down-no manual intervention required. I've also seen a collapsible bathtub coupled with hanging the shower curtain around from the ceiling to provide plenty of space both in use and when you're not using it. But the recirc option is a hands-down no-brainer for me.
These people are amazing showing there showers that I never thought of how to put in van. They really have nice showers. It look to a person can save water. It really good seeing this the difference of people design in van and comment why they design the van showers as is.
Glad it was useful :)
I feel that I would need to cut my hair short so as to keep the shower short.
thats some good ideas.. that shower in the closet is a great idea.. add that recirculating shower and it would be perfect..
Haha yeh sounds ideal!
I love the "hidden floor shower", do you have the link to its creator's YT?
Really Great
I really like the idea of the recycling water. I wonder if anyone has tested that water to see how really clean it is when three different people have had a shower in it. I’d like to see some test run on it before I would have it installed. Because it’s kind of creepy thinking that you’re using someone else’s shower water.
Very cool
I am planning on a hidden shower tray, with a sliding panel. How much water does a van life shower use? I have been thinking of a very basic recirculating shower that is heated by a solar grid fitted to the roof, I am estimating at only using between 3 to 5 lts per use for 2 people.... all pie in the sky until I finish the work on the house!
Shower in the back, bamboo flooring drain, built in rack toilet
Unfortunately, I don't have the space for a full shower, so I'd probably have to go with a hidden floor shower. The question is where do I get a small enough shower pan...
Maybe check some restaurant supply stores? Check out the full sized baking sheets... they are about 17.5" x 25.5" and with a depth of 1.5" to 2" (from a quick search online... you can probably find deeper if you look). You'd have to add the drain, but that wouldn't be too bad, and you could put it wherever you wanted that way. If you did a hanging curtain, you could make it considerably larger at the top for elbow room, and just have magnets or clips at the bottom to be sure the curtain stays inside the tray. Just a thought. 😊
@@krisandbrandyblomquist3364 thanks!
So far, I've found a local guy who makes custom shower pans (for quite cheap!).
I'll get to it next spring, probably.
I would definitely want a recirculating shower as I fell like I would want to shower everyday
Recirculating is cool
Cool that it's fed by a hod wader tank with a gas wader header. Good to know I'm still in my country
1:31 I just had an idea. But what if you had those snap bracelets in the curtain, so it would roll itself up? I’m not sure if they make something like that, that’s long enough though. Thoughts?
Yes! I think i saw that one or similar in a video from Bryce's Tiny House videos. I agree! Shower spave is odten dead space, which is fairly wasteful. G Ire
The best shower is a bucket with a cup. It works and saves water.
Hi Nate @NateMurphy what a brilliant idea with the shower!! However, I would like to ask how to prevent all those damp and mould happening apart from wiping it all down before putting everything back? Do u think is a good idea to install some kind of mini extractor fan around? Keep up with the good work!
I love your content. Thank you. What is the material behind you? Is it the wall panels that can be found at the hardware stores?
four steps to convert your shower.
and that design, though it's really good use of counters n toilets, kind of takes up storage space.
If you can't find an idea in this video, you're in trouble! 👍
Haha very true!
Really wanna see a full tour of the middle column shower van if anyone has the link… 👍🏼
czcams.com/video/z7Oo1qwq1oA/video.html
What kind of shower head did the guy uses that mists? Thanks
IMHO the only logical 'hideaway' shower is a shower that takes up walking space when in use; and no space when not in use. Because while showering you don't need to walk.
However anything else is cumbersome. While showering you'll still need to store; or more generally have items generally placed somewhere. The only thing you won't need to have 'stashed' while showering is your own body, so places where your body is while not showering, can convert into a shower. Anything else feels like a cumbersome idea with unnecessary conversion time.
I'm old I'm carrying an extra 25 lb I've got broken parts between my elbows in my knees I would like a larger shower and it will be the garage when rolling
Genius is the Dad that designed the closet shower.
Dad should have patented his idea.
Maybe he did.
Hope so.
❤☆☆☆☆☆ 🏆
Whose van is the column shower? I love their setup!!
czcams.com/video/z7Oo1qwq1oA/video.html
You forgot Scarlet and Seth’s van. There’s is probably my favorite
Hi, I just saw the book you have, "guide to camper van" and wanted to know, because I'm gonna start my journey of transforming a double decker bus into a home, and wanted to know if lots of the knowledge on your book can be applied to converting a bus, and if it explains things like electricity, water deposits and so on... Thanks in advance
Hey! It does give a lot of useful stuff that is relevant for bus conversions.. the electrical system will likely just be scaled up somewhat. As for water systems - again the bus system is likely to be larger and incorporate more waste tanks.. but again it is quite similar. You will probably be able to take the useful stuff and then just do some bus-based research for specific differences.
@@NateMurphy thank you, would u say this online course that is above 500euros for van conversions would be worth it or as you said, take the knowledge of the book and then keep searching for bus specific, like the book would be to learn the bases or something like that, don't know if something like covering the walls with the thermal thing (sorry don't know the word in English, heat coating?) is on the book for example and that can be applied? Thanks for the help
@@KuRuTeKo Insulation is the word I think you are looking for. The course is basically super-high detail - again I think useful for the bus as all the same principals apply. It just depends on how much detail you want in order to help with the build.
Any way to get links to the videos for some of these makes? I would love to see ALL of number 6's make
Adding them to description now!
@@NateMurphy Thank you! Missed a couple but it's great to see!
The problem with showers against the storm de facto all day s it curves inward at shoulder level right where almost all men’s and some women’s bodies are widest
💙💙💙
What van is this? First one looks huge inside
First one is a Citroen Relay
Number 5 is ok … 7 and 8 needs a vent on the roof to avoid humidity,
The bolt man that keep 65 % water for the especial tap in addition keep 50% of water because he don’t have hair
These are nice solutions. Still I find it funny, that people are so attached to having a shower with pumps. If you have traveled India you know that millions of people use a bucket of water and a dipper for very efficient showering, including washing long hair. It can be so simple.
The showers nice but counter space-wise you'd have to remove everything off the counter before you take a shower and then you'd have to wipe the walls down from the soap scum
If you use liquid body wash (or just shampoo, as I have for years) and never use bar soap, you cut down on soap scum by 99%. You only have to deal with mineral deposits.
Mid video (no 4) there's alot of curtain to let dry after shower. G Ire
Love it, give it to an Norwegian. He will find a problem within 10 mins
0:32
whos the bench shower guy
So, the guy with the pop up shower is basically an exact copy of Scarlet & Seth. I don't know how old his video is, but I'm guessing it's newer. So, credit to the OGs. Unless, of course, they copied him.
7:06, okay, that would just be a mess.
tô presa na parte "shower twice a week" meu deus.............
shower as much as i do?
dude i shower twice a DAY
What's missing here is my favorite shower design, which I copied for my van: the shower in a drawer: czcams.com/video/yhyI-D2KO0A/video.htmlsi=nCiahHxCwVFEzItW&t=493
I didn’t like any of the ones you have to convert.😢 I shower daily so I don’t want to setup/tear down every time.
re-circulating showers are not practical for a van. Any kind of soap you use will not fully be filtered and you will feel it
Curtain in shower a bit scrappy. Not really through out
When you first lowered the shower curtain you said something about a popper, too bad you can’t change an existing video, and SHOW what you were talking about when you said that, next time keep shower curtain up when you are explaining something.
Number 4 .. awful .. shower imeans humidity .. I figure that shower full of fungus in three days of use
Shower twice a week? Da fuck?
Why do the bald guy only showers twice a week? Eeeeew
Nothing spectacular here a bucket could be used in most cases
No thanks
Daily? A wife or grilfriend would probably really like that if she was missing a tooth, had 18 tattoos and just got kicked out of the trailer park.
Disappointed there won’t more women in this video 😢.
That #6 Middle Column Shower looks very interesting, were can I see more of that Van ????
czcams.com/video/z7Oo1qwq1oA/video.html
This one is brilliant, sliding closet/shower/toilet combo. The tour is under his shorts. @lucasravizza
Where is the link to the middle column shower?
Recirculating showers have got to be THE dumbest idea ever in van builds. The additional build expense, complexity to the water system and non stop maintenance and filter replacement is asinine.
You live in a van, not a home. Rinse yourself, water off, lather up, rinse yourself, done.
