    The Omega Seamaster needs little introduction, and the James Bond line has a lot to do with why that is the case. Here we take a look at both versions and talk through how this model looks in 2023.

    "I like that they're putting their prices up to compete in another price bracket" Is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard. It's just an artificial bracket jump, there's no quality increase just a bigger number of the tag. How anyone outside of Omega can like that is absolutely bonkers.

    • @cklive4182
      @cklive4182 Před rokem +5

      Same as other luxury watches or any other luxury items bags, belts, cloth etc. Rolex is in much higher price range. Is it because it has more complicate mechanical movement than Omega of that much different or it tells more precise time than 25 dollars Casio? No. They just mark up the price tags and the price just keep getting higher and higher. In many cases, even if you have the money, you can not buy the item you want. You have to buy other items of their brands to get a hand on the item you want. It is how they position themselves in the market. It is ridiculous, it is artificial but it is what it is and it is meant to be for luxury.

      I have this watch and I absolutely love it. I have been wearing it each day since I got it a year ago. It is reasonably well finished but I still feel Omega should make a big push on improving their finishing, QA/QC where it has so much room to improve. This watch bracelet clasp should have been better designed, there should have been a micro adjust of half the bracelet holes increment, the bezel action does not ooze superlative quality and sturdiness; it should feel smoother. Mine has a significant defect on the dial as the two 12 o’clock luminous inserts are dislodged… I’ll use this defect to my advantage and return the watch for this to be addressed just prior the guarantee expiration 😉

      @@patrickjean-philippe7679 I think we all know the omega movement is better but Omega let themselves down with less wearable dimensions and poorer bracelets. Also cant escape the fact that omega is owned by swatch which means you get things that aren’t generally synonymous with prestige brands. As a movement maker omega is better and has a genuinely iconic ( if not the most iconic) watch in the speedmaster

    I have never fallen in love with a watch as I have with this Seamaster. I’d admired it since we got our first look at it in the trailers for No Time To Die. Finally was lucky enough to get myself one for Christmas, and the bezel action is perfect - the clicks are kinda heavy, I suppose (no more so than my other Omegas), but the pressure required is reasonable and consistent.

    I think your observations on the NTTD Seamaster were all valid, above all “I buy it first because of the looks”. Beyond the function of telling time, watches are jewelry and you gravitate to what visually appeals to you. When the NTTD was first announced, for me it took a bit to warm to it, but once I did, I really liked it, and what appealed to me was the image of tough, no nonsense, simple, and faux military issue. However, once I started wearing mine, I noticed a big caveat to the design- the dial and bezel are difficult to read in anything but full sun and full darkness. In indoor medium lighting, I find the dial more difficult to read at a glance. I believe this is due to the colors- a deep brown dial with beige markings all just don’t have the contrast of black and white, and the skeleton hands don’t help. Every other dive watch I have has a face I can read at a distance, but this one, not so much. It goes to show that sometimes things done for style compromise the function of the design.

    • @-triumphgt667
      @-triumphgt667 Před rokem +2

      Agree with that. Hand visibility poor in all but good light. The Milanese strap is fantastic but I have big wrists, no problems with the bezel but I don't wear gloves. The thing I really love though is the lack of weight - hardly notice it is on. Tempted to mod it with lume in the skeletonised hands.

    • @ultrablue2
      @ultrablue2 Před rokem +1

      @@-triumphgt667 : If they just went for a black dial face I think it would have made readability much better. When I compare it to my 300 Master Coaxial which also has the yellowed vintage-look lume, the 300 is much easier to read. As for the mesh bracelet, I usually wear it with the nato strap so it’s not an issue.

    So I have the black seamaster and I was going to trade in my black 2022 SMP and my Tudor BlackBay 58 for this watch. I thought it would be those two watches in one, the vintage and brown of my bb58 in the seamaster form. After trying it on though the lightness surprisingly turned me off a bit, felt too light funny enough. Also the dial felt a bit too muted. Decided against the trade. Keeping the two, blingy SMP and more muted bb58 is what I decided to do. Other thing for is matching diff bracelet to it which I do a lot would be tougher to the titanium. Still love the look though.

    Well, as a collector of watches for the past 50 years, I always get a kick out of reviews that do NOT run the watch for at least 48 hours and let us know about how well it keeps time. Watches are all about the movement, everything else is icing on the cake. I could get into this but honestly who cares, just do your own research and after a few thousand hours you will see what I mean. I see people commenting all the time saying this is a much better watch than that one and they have no idea that the cake is the same but the icing is different and they like the icing and the name written in it because that is what a marketing guru told them to believe. Some of the most beautiful watches I have ever owned were made by Rolex. Some of the watches that I have ever owned that kept the worst time were.....drum roll.....Rolex's!!!!!! If you went back to the 1970s, some of the most impressive dive watches were made by Rolex, Omega, Doxa, and Zodiac's Super Sea Wolf and many of them all shared the same inner workings. The marketing team at Rolex was just wiser and aligned themselves with key sporting events, Olympics, PGA, 24 Hours of Le Mans, and of course other major events. Before you knew it, if you wanted great sports watch you simply had to purchase the Rolex and pay more for it because paying more means it's simply better right!? Ever heard of Lemania? Well, Rolex sure did and during that same era Omega wore the same underwear and that is a fact. So next time you decide to research a watch think about this joke and apply it to your watch research; how do you tell the difference between a male and female chromosome? You pull down their genes, and now look inside the watches and see if they share the same gene pool before spending your hard-earned money. Good luck..............BTW, money aside, my favorite watch will always be my early Omega Speed Master Professional. I love both the 321 and 861.

    Another great video Harrison. I really considered this piece before I bought my Polar as I was selling my great white Seamaster. I sold the great white because it was heavier and thicker than it really needs to be, and this titanium piece is thinner and lighter, so it solves both issues. Plus I really like the look. Now I'm still considering selling my Polar and getting the 14060M 2 liner, but I have to admit that this piece is also a contender.

      Omega CK2444 was the main watch during the great war. I really don't mind that the broad arrow is on this Seamaster, even if it's not the historically correct watch. Probably just a cool feature 👍🏼

      @@born7thjuly I don’t think it’s right. I can see the argument that this is a costume watch for bond fans but it also doesn’t make sense in the context of the watch. Why would a secret undercover agent wear a watch with a large military designation on the face ? It’s just a mess of a watch for me

      End of the day some like it, others don't.
      I thought myself the first look it's a great looking watch with cool details. Almost close buying it. But there is still something that doesn't really tick the boxes yet.
      If they made the same watch that they distributed under the war, but waterproof and 40mm..instabuy

    No Time to Die was by far and away the worst Bond movie ever made. This watch at $9600? Uh no thank you.besides being overpriced, it will remind you of that woke piece of crap last Bond movie.

    This watch is simply far too high for an aluminum bezel.
