Austria-Hungary and Israel sharing Madagascar is peak fiction
It's funny because a certain Austrian painter had at one point thought of sending the Jews there.

What's also funny is by the time of the congress of Vienna political Zionism, which at it earliest concept was still just the idea of a Jewish nationstate somewhere in the world and not in the levant specifically, had not been invented yet (and wouldn't be for over a decade). Its inventor (Herzl) was still a teenager, although he was an Astro-Hungarian Jew. He also specifically advocated for the establishment of a Jewish state in what was Ottoman Palestine (known in 1878 as the Vilayet of Syria and Mutasarrifate of Jerusalem), and generally any other land that was suggested to them in Africa, South America, North America, Europe, or even East Asia was considered a secondary option, as even when the British offered a portion of their East African Colony for the establishment of a Jewish state the Zionist Congress voted against establishing a state there.
Essentially the idea that a Jewish state could be established in 1878 anywhere but maybe a small portion of a balkanized Pale of Settlement is a joke, no imperial power at the conference considered the forced mass resettlement of Europes millions of Jews and European Jews would likely revolt at the suggestion of a Jewish state as it would go against the prevailing belief of the time, which was to either remain in Shtetls and not anger the state so the state wouldn't kill them or force them to emigrate or to prove their loyalty to their fellow countrymen by assimilating as much as possible into the country in which they found themselves. The Dreyfus Affair, which helped change many Jews minds about the value of assimilation in Europe as a defence against antisemitism and marked a shift towards the popularity of political Zionism or emigration to the Americas, wouldn't happen over a decade as well.
Just want to clarify I'm not upset by this its a silly video that already isn't realistic for a number of reasons and its funny that there is a Jewish quasi state within Austro-Hungarian Madagascar in 1878, just want to explain WHY this one aspect of the video is particularly absurd.
And is also funny because Madagascar really was one of the options the UN had on where to put Israel

This map really looks like a game of Victoria 2, complete with the French snaking through empty desert in central africa with like one port connecting their "empire" to the sea.
Or Britain taking literally all of Eastern Africa apart from the organised parts making it look like some sort of rash.

I am happy that Austria-Hungary got Madascar, because in real life they actually had a chance to get it.
A Hungarian guy named Móric Benyovszky made some colonies there. The people really loved him, and called him as the King of Madagascar. The natives thought he was sent by their god.
Unfortunately, empress Maria Theresia was not really interested in colonialism, so Benyovszky stayed there and lived with his people.
He died during a battle against French colonial forces

As a spaniard i loved the fact that a decaying empire embroil in civil war gets the whole african north-west. Maybe this does get prestige up and all our problems end up solving themself.
As a Moroccan I think the spanish civil war would be a lot more interesting in this timeline.
Having colonies close to home also makes them better to defend if they try any “funny”business……

Germany had a decent navy during the naval rush period against UK.
So if France intervene in favour of Germany to defend what was decided on the conference, it's a balanced fight.
Also is they somehow convince Italy that its colonies are at risk if the treaty get rewritten, then its UK that could be finding itself in navy disadvantage.
Spain, Portugal and Netherlands maybe irrelevant.
Ottomans could use this war as excuse to size the Suez, cutting if UK from Asian colonies.

The Austrian Africa though impressive would have caused a literal heart attack to Emperor Franz Josef who even refused colonies in Morroco and the Horn of Africa, which Austria surprisingly had a claim on and was ready to accepted by some of the parties

I have to imagine the British and French will be storming out of this conference quite early. Britain will quickly reconquer South Africa, and probably also force the Ottomans to return their protectorate over Egypt. And France will go kick in the teeth of the Spanish for Algeria and Morocco.

While certainly a funny idea, I'm pretty sure in this timeline the British would not take this lightly at all (specially seeing as many colonies they set up previously were just taken from them) And I would bet Britain would likely ignore said treaty and would probably just conquer the continent for themselves and cause more conflict over the territory which the conference was started to avoid. But that's my thoughts!

As a Portuguese who voted everything for Portugal this is a massive win

30% of modern day Ethiopia is literally Somali land. It's called the Somali region and it is populated and governed by somalis. Ethiopia is an assortment of different nations that speak different languages, have different cultures and different religions. Somalia is literally named after the Somali people a homogeneous society that is endogamous and because of their nomadic pastoralist and seafaring mercantilist lives that is harsh and lonely they are VERY territorial and ethnocentric.

I am Austrian and I wanted Spain to have their colonies connected, the Ottomans owning Egypt, Ethopia to have a coastline and Germany to have Mittelafrica. Germany should get whole Camerum at some territory from the French Congo to have clearer borders. Except that, I am pretty satisfied.

@erdenbal6761 why would the other powers (who by this point are anti-slave) care if britian attacked the slave trading boers and ottomans, Russia and Austria would probably help them against the latter.
Germany would side with whoever Russia and Austria sides with at this point in history.
Spain is in a civil war in this period and broke, unlikely to be able to hold on to their colonies let alone fight the British, and the Portuguese would probably side with britian their extremely long term ally.
The Dutch, france and the ottomans are not going to be able to face the above situation against britian alone.
