Just seeing how much the sand/ impact removed the rust is insane.
Years ago I deployed to a location with Australian army in Iraq. Those bubbas were crazy. Love'em though. Fearless soldiers. I discovered this channel through Demolition Ranch. I see now that that crazy/cool madness is a genetic trait with the Australian people. I'm a fan now.

Like medieval flail, the big impact of the spikes is not just their sharpness : they make sure the ball don't bounce around and just deliver maximum energy from its fall.
Also its effectiveness is attributed to the fact that most to all of the energy of the falling ball, is concentrated onto the spike on impact. Its like how you can literally punch through cold thick steel with nothing but a hardened sharp spike and a hydraulic press.
Makes it hard af to get out tho lol

Any weapon that uses a flexible portion in its handle construction is going to be less efficient in transferring its energy to the target on impact

Instead of just ice made of water only, try freezing a large block of ice with straw or some other fibrous material (bits of hemp rope) frozen inside. Adding a mixed material to the ice makes it incredibly strong compared to ice alone.
I just think Spike Tyson fits more for a giant spiky ball but I’d be satisfied with Geronimo

Maybe consider casting a reinforced concrete pad with a thick steel plate under the drop zone. The dirt absorbs most of the energy.

You know I had a friend who was a locksmith and a lot of these older safes were insulated against fire with asbestos they need to be careful. I would definitely be wearing a mask!

its not the most efficient way to sandblast something, but it is definitely the most fun!

I am not doubting your info, I was just astonished by the comparatively low weight for something that size.
Because the specific weight of carbon steel is very similar to iron, which is roughly 7 gr/cm³, while pure tungsten would be roughly 19 gr/cm³.
I'd estimate the diameter of that sphere sans spikes to be roughly one meter, with 4/3*pi*r³ for the cubic volume of a sphere.
Thus at 50 cm for r that would give roughly 3 600 000 grams, or roughly 3.6 tons for a solid steel ball of carbon steel.
With tungsten that would weigh almost 10 tons.
But my estimates could be off by quite a margin, so dealing with cubes of radii instantly changes the weights.
