- #3 Auburn (11-0) beats #15 Tennessee (9-2) in Atlanta for the 2nd time in 2004. Auburn would go on to a 13-0 National Championship season in one of the more dominating seasons in SEC history.

As a UT Fan I was really upset Auburn didn't get the chance to play for the NC. This SEC Championship game was well played by both teams and the better team won. The sad thing was the Critics were convinced that Auburn had no part being in the NC because they barely beat a weak UT Team. That UT team was not weak when you consider they beat Florida, Georgia, and Alabama in the same year.
As a Auburn fan I hope Tennessee comes back strong like they were in the 90's and early 2000's. I would love to play them again in the SEC championship game again.

Greatest team of all time in my eyes
I'm a Vol fan, but it's a travesty this AU team didn't get a shot at the national title. They were the only ones who belonged on the field with that USC team. That backfield was legendary.
I don't know if AU would've beat USC or not but Oklahoma had no business being there. What an absolute joke.
I don't know if Auburn would've beaten USC or not. The two seasons they played them and loss prior to this season means absolutely nothing. There's one thing I am sure of. There's no way in hell USC would've scored 56 points on this Auburn defense
