These are like the old time swamp coolers used in the south. I truly struggle with the heat.

I rented a room in Las Vegas during the heat wave, it was115 degrees outside(I dont know what is was inside)and the man refused to turn on the air. He was a friend of a friend and I had nowhere else to go and my kitty. I used artic air, wet down sheets to put over us, and kind of wet kitty with the sheet.. It was that hot for a couple of months straight, God was with us and we did not get sick. It was HORRIBLE though. God Bless you Lindy, I hope your new air keeps you cool.

This issue really resonates with me... about why so many nomads go to higher, mountainous elevations. Minivan Lee also talks about finding places like parks etc...where there is a shady place to park while still able to recharge folding solar panels she's able to put out adjacent to her vehicle. Stay cool & safe! LUCRETIA 🎉

There is an excellent book I borrowed from the local library called "The Heat Will Kill You First." It's true. I'm so glad you have a thermometer in your vehicle and monitor the temp. People get sick and delirious and then can't help themselves. We're so aware here in Texas of the heat and its lethality.

    Hi Lindy 🙂
My mom had sensitivity to heat too and I'd get her a pan of ice water for her feet and it cooled her off pretty quickly. I'd put a cold rag on the back of her neck too.

The first 5 years I lived in my house, we had no ac. We just used fans. No heat also but we had plug in small heaters. Then one day we bought a window ac. Best thing ever. LOL! Our house was built in 1900...all original, so it did not have any heat or air. Still no heat, but the plug in works good.
    Stay healthy. ☺

Hello sweetheart, just a suggestion but Dogs don’t regulate their body temperature via their fur. Unlike humans, dogs cannot sweat through their skin. They rely on panting and releasing heat through their paw pads and nose to regulate their body temperature. If they cannot cool down, they will quickly develop heatstroke. So a tip is to have a cool pad and spray Marley’s foot pads or have a large bowl of water Marley can step into. People think dogs are silly when they paddle in their drinking water but they are smart and just cooling themselves down. 🙏🏼❤️

#1 Reflect the best way to keep cool.Dark paint is 20°hotter. There are ways that you can find shade that most people would not think of what is one way is to park on the west side of the building play some in the morning and when you move you might only have to go to the east side of the building. If your car is a dark-colored car you want to get a tarp that has reflective material on it you want to cover your vehicle as much as possible creating as much shade as possible by not pulling into a already heated parking spot. That heated ground will heat your vehicle.

Those arctic air machines are a remake of the old swamp coolers that they used to use down south. Water (or in your case ice water cooled air.) The swamp coolers looked almost like a central air conditioner, but it was hooked to a water source and would blow the cool air through the air ducts of your house. I have a store that has one outside, but I have never tried to use it since it is very old. Stay cool Lindy and Marley.

There's a good reason why grocery stores keep the temperature way down, it helps with keeping the food tasty n safe longer. Many foods that have oils in them will go bad when the temperature gets above 80°. Peanut butter is one that we don't normally keep in the fridge or cooler but is one of those foods. Even if it's not open it will still go bad. Box foods could have oil in the ingredients, like a box of Mac n cheese. Plus the plastic containers like for your water is more likely to leach their chemicals into the contents at higher temperatures. You not only have to protect your pets and yourselves from the heat but your food and water too

Thanks for the review on the Arctic Air. I might have to try that. Great suggestions.
I head out on my vaca in early Sept. because of the humidity in Florida, and Sept. is the worst hurricane month. And where do I go? The desert! LOL! It's more tolerable for me to have high heat and low humidity, than to have high heat and high humidity. If I could, I'd get out of Florida all summer, but that's not reality for me.
Once I get out to N.M. to visit my brother, it's perfect weather.

I hate the heat, but the humidity is just miserable. Iam in the south, and in July, August its just horrid, and makes it impossible to enjoy being outdoors at all. Swamp coolers make it way worse, but they do good in dry heat, like I had years ago in the midwest. Wetting and freezing sheets sure helped us get to sleep at night...get sheets out of freezer and throw on the bed, go to sleep before they get hot! ❤

Hi sweet Lady, last year I couldn't afford the extra $60.00 a month my landlord would charge if I wanted air conditioning in my studio apt less than 200 sq ft, but I had 3 of these artic air's so I was able to make my own ice, but what I also did was have my air fan blowing from behind the artic air that seemed to work, I would run or dip the filter in ice water or freeze the filter that came with it. That helped a lot and I would dip my t-shirt's in ice water, a lot of times I'd sprinkle the t-shirt with cold water and folded them and put them in the freezer and when they got frozen I'd put it on LOL. God bless you.

Make it were you attach only when your parked and either can block side of van or top after you are charged . They are thin and light weight 2ftx8 is shortest. You can also use em when you park to block side of van if your out of city so no one bothers

Hi Lindy. I know you will be honest in your review. I have written to a few you tubers who have put this in and said “ it only works in the “ heat” when it’s blowing directly on you. Face, feet etc. he responded that “ once the van is really hot it barely helps but if you use it in the early day or night it’s OK. What do you think. I know you are in ca like me and I’m not knowing which way to turn. A can roof can’t hold enough solar or enough lithium batteries to keep 110 to 70 degrees for 6-8 hrs. Next time you're in the store see if you can put a flat of drinking water in a freezer that they're not checking too often you can come back the next day and over half of that thing will be frozen solid if you could wait two days it'll be all solid you're not going to get away with putting 40 bottles in there but you can get away with a six pack you probably could hide a gallon in there but what's going to happen when the gal freezes that's a lot of expansion it can bust the container. Of course after you have cooled your body you can still drink the water.

@@l.a.v.alindysawesomevanadv3428 Based on what I googled, it varies from 9 to 10 degrees. That difference can mean alot if it is really hot and you are trying to “ cool” the inside. May not be worth the paint job though👍🏻

You need to calculate your gas cost versus your cooling cost you might be better off relocating to a higher altitude sometimes you got to chase the temperature. Before I would pay for Las Vegas hotel rooms I would get the f out of the desert.

Why not drive North? Or up. Go where it’s cool. That’s the easiest solution. You are way too old ( like me) to live in the heat in a tin box.
