My parakeet died three days ago. I used to think that they are just birds, and I didn’t even know how much I love my birds. One of them got sick and on Sunday evening I couldn’t find a specialist, and I read online that if these birds are ill, then you should keep them in a warm place. I did wrap her in a towel and placed her in a quiet and warm place. After about an hour, it started to feel better and showed some action. But, I was fooled by that thinking she is feeling better and went to sleep, when I woke up I found her dead.
Apparently, when birds are feeling sick, they stop eating and drinking. Which they will die not from feeling sick but they will die from dehydration and starving. When you see them feeling sick, you must force feed them something like blended oatmeal, and inset i]the food into a birds month with medical syringe. You have to force feed the bird little bit by little every 2-3 hours. Give them water also through medical syringe. To keep them hydrated.
I wish I knew all these before my bird died, then I would be able to save mine....
I didn’t know how much I love my bird until after it died....because it is impossible not to love these beautiful creatures.
I hope this will help to save other birds, because I if someone had told me all these before my bird died, perhaps she would have been alive now. But, I thought if the bird is feeling sick then they have to be left alone to recover, but this is not the case with birds at all. You must force feed them a soft watery food like oatmeal blended, or oat groats washed and mix it hot water and blend it. Wait until it will be warm, as you cannot give your bird hot or cold food. And if you think your bird got poisoned, then you can give water mixed with activated charcoal. Someone I know was able to save her bird by doing all these things. I wanted to share, so that other people would know too.
Keep their water fresh, and feed them fresh vegetables and fruits too along with the parakeet food.
I hope these little birds and all other animals and creatures will always stay healthy and live a very long and happy life. I just miss my bird so much. I had no idea how much I love her, until after she died......

Happy Mysyk I’m so sorry. My Budgie died last night because she got trapped on my bookshelf with 2 bird statues and a big sign. Now I want to burn the sign and the statues. My bird was the best part of my life. And the sad part is that....

My bird died January 3 and it was the saddest thing ever her mate was always by her she was to weak to get up and I tried everything to help her I was cleaning her cage and as soon as I went to go get something I heard a big scream from her mate so I came back running when I saw her laying down dead I started crying immediately and scream for my dad he came running and grab her and she was just there in his hands I still can’t forget her I will never but I do have her ring and I will never forget I feel if I would have token her to the vet or help her more she would still be here. Now I’m so much more careful I’m doing much more research because I don’t want the same to happen to her mate :( sorry for your loss
I had two parakeets, one male one female. Emmet(male) would perch on my knee while i was reading or watching tv...(i get home about an hour before my mom) so i was reading with emmet on my leg and he started breathing hard and wheezing. I started to panic and had no idea what to do. A couple seconds later he rolled over on his back and his breathing faded. I put him in a small polymer clay bowl with some cotton balls and tissue paper. I then waited in distress untill my mom got home (about 5 min later) she said to get in the car and we were going to bring him to the vet (thinking he could still live) but they said there was no chance. My stepmom is a vet and she said it was either because of stress or something wrong with his lungs. So I guess the lesson is don't stress your bird, be carefull, and take into consideration cautions for your bird. It is a very sad experience to lose a close pet.
I actually had to get a new bird to keep from my female bird to get depressed or lonely, this is for the wellfare of your bird and even though you might still be grieving for your bird they are social creatures and need a companion.

They also stretch their legs. When they see me approach, they move both side of their wings in backward position, as if acknowledging my presence. They like to sit on your shoulders too. They bite n play with yr hair n beard. They like to cuddle. They move their head up and down repeatedly when excited.
If you are working on yr phone, they like to touch the screen with their tongue, and literally open new tabs n pages.
When u switch off the lights at night, they make slight sweet sound. They get scared too.
They wanna try anything that you eat, sometimes you have to hide yr food and eat. They get angry on you too. So they go back to their cage and won't respond to you for a while.
They sometimes eat their own poop. They enjoy rides in the car with you. The sometimes chirp even when they are sleeping.
Sometimes when you are trying to concentrate and they are chirping and you say shut up, they sometimes do, but mostly for a few seconds.
They are attracted towards yr teeth when you speak. They kiss you several times on yr lips. They want to sit on yr face and yr head sometimes.
They wanna go with you wherever you, even the washroom.
If u sing to them, they completely ignore you and pretend to sleep.
They always keep an eye on you.

Anshul Chuchra Arora You're so lucky. I've had my 3 for months now and they are still afraid of me. I can only just barely get them to eat millet from my hand. Only one of them will climb on my hand to eat the millet, but only in cage. I sometimes think they hate me.
Olivia Branch I have had my 2 for about 3 years now, they absolutely hate me! lol. I tell ya the stress is real when I let them free fly. I fear they will never fly back into their home. .. luckily they enjoy it in there!

I can relate to the kissing 😑😂😅 my bird is a very jealous one if it comes to me interacting with other persons. So i always give my bf a kiss when he leaves but he always says: gimme a kiss. So one time my bird flew to me and started kissing me a lot and now he can't stop. Every second he is with me he needs kisses. I feel loved though 😂😂
Ive heard that if you keep more than 1 bird, itll be a lot harder for them to bond with you because they have a bird friend to bond with. If its just you then eventually theyll come around lol

What do you call it? It's not like when we kiss as they have no lips but budgies are very affectionate and friendly birds, they display a lot of beak to beak action. It's not just for courtship as friends will beak-kiss each other. They also do the same to their toys and reflections. When tamed, they will also beak-kiss their favorite humans. Though part of the time it's not kissing but feeding regurgitated food.
Again, if kissing is only something you think humans or creatures with lips do, what is it called when its beak to beak?

Adorable.. Subscribed, I used to have two male Budgie Parakeets, they are in birdie heaven now. I do miss having Budgies though but my cat would constantly be trying to get them if I was to have any now. I cracked up when Mr. Fantastic song came on lol. 😂
Remy not and his Mommy I have two male parakeets with two dogs, two cats with a robo hamster. But my cats know they will be deep trouble if they try anything and they know that they are another pet not the dinner plate. ☺
I used to have 2 cats, a dog and 2 parakeets and none of the other pets bothered them but my cat I have now, he would be like Sylvester and Tweety lol.

Birds are just like humans; some like baths while others prefer showers.
+It'z Sky probably better to get a new bottle; they cost less than most bird toys anyway, and sometimes the chemicals linger despite extensive rinsing... but yep, some of them prefer a spray bottle too.

Mine did but you can always put the cage in the shower so at least the temperature is for them and have something to grab into.
I love it as an easy way to get rid of dust on and in the cage, just don't forget to take out food and the tray filled with their poop and seeds.

Is it ok if a budgie nibbles on your finger while playing,im teaching him to stop doing that sometimes the bite has pressure?
If you notice your bird is using pressure, I would encourage your bird not to do it. My budgie Kiwi always does it but its her way of showing affection. she never bites hard but again, each bird is different ;)

I got my budgies in a pet store.. but it seems like they don't know how to bathe!
I've tried taking them out of the cage and put them on a tub of water, but it seems they're really persistent in getting the water.
I have two budgies and one she plucked a big feather and I don't know if it's stress or something else so pls reply if you see it
mine are stretching and preening pretty much all day
and i got a blue male one that just keeps on talking in his sleep
mine never took a bath, but it's been extremely hot out here and the birds were clearly hot aswell, so i sprayed a little water inside the cage,
they were freightened at first, but after like 3 times, one of them actually deliberately flew under the water beam to cool off, now they're cool with it :)

i need help. My budgies are scared of me, I am trying to make them become friendlier but i cant. When i get closer to them they are going at the other part of the cage. I tried to let them fly true the apartament but they stay at their cage or go on the floor. How to make them more playful with me? I have them for 1 year.
I’ve heard that spending a lot of time in the same room as the cage can help them to see you as someone who won’t hurt them, also when you open the cage do it slowly to not startle them. I’m not an expert though so you also might want to do some research.

I have a cockatiel of 11 years. He can always get out of his cage, because the roof is always open. However, he never wants to take a bath. What should I do so that he should wash himself in a bath. Now he gives a lot of dust when flying around and I do not like that.

My budgie actually hates her toys, hates bird baths so I have to spray her with a spray bottle, hates veggies and fruit if I dont hand feed her and constantly nips my hands but loves giving kisses lmao my budgie is the boss of my bedroom as well. 8+years of a bossy little sass

Mine chews my shirts when his sitting on me. And only my shirt! He’ll sit on my family’s shoulders and chest and he’ll sit there, but when I’m holding him he will, without fail, chew holes in the shirt I’m wearing every time!
If someone can tell me why he does this that would be appreciated.
I got 2 (3 year old) birbs for free but
when i first got them i didn’t know
nothing about them so i fed them
bread and gave them a cup of water
and I kept them in a huge cage in my
room, and turned on the A/C and slept,
when I woke up I saw one of them
dying on the grass (in the cage),
I grabbed it and thought it was freezing
then I wrapped it in a little blanket and
I ran upstairs to the roof so it’ll warm
then I was scared it was gonna die by
me I tried to make it standup but it
didn’t, suddenly it peed on the floor
idk how and died,
I cried a lot that day because it only
survived a half day in my house and it was the nicer one.
The other birb is still alive and it’s
happy dancing everyday it has been
in my house now for 7 months.
