    Cool video. Budgies are very sweet and friendly birds.
    For example: When i was a young teen, we had a budgie who was best buddies with our dorky cavies and with our pair of cockatiels. He shared his herbs, salad and even his beloved millet with the other animals. And he loved it to have "jam sessions" with the male cockatiel, like play the drums or sing together. ^_^
    He was even so fond of mom and me, that we could go together with him to the near stores to buy fresh veggies. He was wasn't afraid of all the traffic noises at all and just sit on the shoulder and sing a song or sit in the hood and take a nap. He was the most unique budgie i have ever met.

    with fact #3, it's amazing how they don't instantly explode seeing as how rowdy and unhinged they can be
    mine messes up his leg at least 3 times a year because he did something stupid and in panic claws to the closest thing available :')
    we have shit tons of ringneck parakeets in the wild here in the Netherlands, i hear them in the trees every morning and my 2 budgies yell back at them, appearantly they came from germany and belgium and moved upward as winters became milder.
    netherlands has wide variety of birds, i've seen quite some,
    we have big old herons herons and swans everywhere (who'd a thunk in a country made from water)
    out in the country got our little falcons, and a huge list of small birds.
    but it's still weird to see such an exotic bird fly around in the wild, it wasn't like that 20 years ago lol
    when i play guitar my budgies start looking down at me with their heads diagonally, almost like they're like little doggos and it cracks me up everytime they eyeball me like that, also the way their face looks when they're doing pruning the heavily padded zones, those temporary sideburns, does it to me everytime, there's a couple of those cases in this video too :')

    I feel better about how well I have cared for my budgies. I had one make it to 14 and he would have gone a lot longer if it weren't for an accident. Another I had just recently passed away at a little over 16. So it shows they have had good long lives. I only have one left now... and he seems to have depression. He doesn't want to come out and play anymore. Poor little guy. He tolerates me trying to love him but he just isn't interested. He's always had other birds to bond with and now all he has is this great big pink monkey thing. "Okay... I'll sit on your finger for a little while. But I'm not in the mood to play."

    Another little known fact: In his childhood, Keith Emerson (of ELP) had a pet budgie named 'Teddy Boy". In KE's autobiography, there's a photo of young Keith playing an upright piano with the budgie atop his head!

      Some budgies just don't like being touched. If Edward is really sleepy, he'll allow me but its been close to 3 years and he still doesn't like it. He's never bitten me for the past 3 years. That surprises me too. He's a gentle giant but he just doesn't like being touched. Some birds are just like that :)

    • @m1jo
      @m1jo Před 5 lety +6

      The first tip would be: Please never ever have only one budgie at home. They are very social birds that need companions like them to live a happy life.

    • @Thedaisyjaynes
      @Thedaisyjaynes Před 5 lety +3

      m1jo Personally, I disagree. We’ve had Bobby for 7 years and he’s never been interested in being around other Budgies. We had another one for about a year and he really wasn’t bothered about having her around. He much prefers having us for company. I leave him the window open so he can chat to the birds outside and he loves that!

    • @m1jo
      @m1jo Před 5 lety +5

      @@Thedaisyjaynes, no, of Course not. He doesn´t know the difference and he has a Fixation on you. He simply doesn´t know anymore that he is a bird and how to communicate with other birds. That is a normal behaviour after beeing alone for such a Long time. Budgies are animals that live in swarms. It is indeed very important for them and it saves their lives in nature. Our budgies have still the same instincts. Beeing a human´s best friend is mostly only the try to not beeing alone. They have no other choise but to do so. I can tell you, that I have had a lot of budgies in care, that could not handle this human-bird-relationship anymore, or could no longer stand beeing a lonely bird. Some became very aggressive, some did not want to do anything anymore in their lives and had given up, others hurt themselves and plucked their feathers, at the Moment there is one who would like to communicate with others, but doesn´t know how to do it, because he as well has a Fixation on humans. He is struggling in making Friends, but he wants it Pretty much, or not beeing rude to them, but he simply doesn´t know how to be gentle and to deal with it. The Daisy Jaynes, if you would ever see, what it means to These birds, to be alone around another species instead of having budgie-friends, you would understand, what I am trying to tell you. They really Need at last one other companion to be really happy.

    One important thing about budgies is that you should never give them avocado, because it’s a poison for them.
    There was something else but I don’t know it’s name in English.
