  • Today I'm installing the Baja Designs S8 20" Light Bar bumper kit ordered from CJC Off Road. The install is fairly straightforward but does take a bit of doing since you have to remove/reinstall the lower valance. I highly recommend either painting or powder coating the mounting brackets - it will help prevent rust (though they did seem to be stainless) as well as add that little bit of extra pop to your build.

Thanks for the great install video. I wired up the Baja Designs Light Bar kit to my 2022 Ram 2500 to factory auxiliary 1 which has a 40 amp fuse and it’s blowing the fuses. I wired it how you did in your video (cut the wiring harness off at the relay and hooked white to the auxiliary terminal). Any ideas on why it’s blowing fuses and how I can troubleshoot or maybe something I missed? I looked over the harness for any potential cuts/nicks or other damage and didn’t find any damage or potential shorts.

Hm. Just trying to start with the obvious but you've also connected the ground wire to a chassis ground right?

So just had a chance to run this by my electrical engineer brother. He said you're shorting out. Either one of your hot connections isn't properly insulated and is touching ground or your wires are reversed at the light bar (hot to ground and ground to hot).

Does the factory lattice grill hinder or diffuse the light coming out? And does the grill get hot. Wondering if I should remove mine when I install the light bar.

I haven't noticed any interference in light pattern from the grill in any way. The light from the bar is so bright it seems to wash out any potential shadows the grill could be causing so it hasn't been a problem. The bar, being LEDs doesn't get very warm so heat hasn't been an issue either.

Nice install brother, are you planning to install those baja lights on top of the hood the spot light style?

No I want to keep it a bit cleaner than that and personally never liked the way they stick out/up over the hood.

all that work all to LOSE sooooo much spread of the light by the grill face :( kinda defeats the purpose

I tested the light prior to install and found that the grill interference was undetectable to the human eye. The spread of the light was the same when sat atop the hood as it is mounted behind the grill. This light is not a full flood light but a combination flood and spot so you are meant to have a decent spread with a long throw down the middle.
