    Chris, it's absolutely night and day the feel of the bike pre and post tune. The "falling on its face" feeling in low RPM while climbing is almost non existent now and that little vibration between 6500-7000 is 95% better. You absolutely knocked it out of the park. What I can say to anyone who reads the comments, obviously just looking at the before and after numbers, it's not the huge and flashy jump that you will usually get with the bigger bikes, but owning the bike, and the before and after feel, the pick up, acceleration, responsiveness, decell... across the board, it's a brand new bike. Oh, and the reason there wasn't a true baseline number to start from is because a couple weeks after getting the bike i took it to Chris for him to just take some of the restrictions out and add a little more fuel across the board, knowing that i would be back after break in since it couldn't be put on the dyno yet. As for the exhaust, i fully intend on getting a real and true slip on. This was more of a "hey, I wonder what this would sound like and do...." kinda things. Anyway, thanks again Chris. I'm sure after a few more mods I'll be back up there again, seeing what else we can pull out of the little 600 that could!

    • @brandoloudly9457
      @brandoloudly9457 Před 3 lety +6

      i think that 5 hp gain is what most 600's see, even with a full system. a better slip on for style, sure, but you probably got the most out of the bike for what you spent already honestly

    • @rollred1995

      @@brandoloudly9457 I took the bike to him a couple weeks after I got it for him to just to a very basic, very general "tune". It was more of a "I know we can't dyno it or run it hard yet, so can you just do a couple tweaks to the stock tune until I break it in" kinda thing. So that's why he said that we really didn't have a base number to go off of. I'm guessing from stock it's probably closer to the 8-10 max hp gain area. We were both kinda disappointed that we really didn't know the true numbers, since the first pull he did already had some tinkering done. It was 100% worth it for the feel though. Numbers be d@mned, it's crazy how much smoother it feels

      Well if he wanted an R1M but settled for an R6, he definitely went the low buck route. Everything is relative my friend; an for what a capable machine you get the modern 600s from all the big 4 metric brands are indeed quite a value. You basically are ready to get on a race track and ride for 10-12k fresh out of a dealership. People spend that much on dirt bikes these days if you think about it that way.

      bacchus thompson maybe? That comes down to different factors lol maybe my tires are better .. maybe I’m a better rider ... maybe I’m shorter and weigh less than you??? idk man it just seems like a cheap thing to do to me but then again I come from a background of messing around with cars so I personally don’t think anything for a motorcycle is expensive. 4k or less you can get very nice bolt ons tune and flash and have a weapon in a week.. vs 4k or less in a car is a few carbon fiber parts and suspension, depending on the car maybe you could buy some wheels lol it just seems like a cheap meaningless thing to do to hack a stock exhaust when you can get a full titanium for like $1700 or at the very least do a decent slip on for what 500-600 bucks?

    • @bacchusthompson5834
      @bacchusthompson5834 Před 3 lety +2

      @@MADLITS1K I feel you... It all depends on the purpose of the bike when you really break it down. If it's a competitive bike, then no I'm not going to do a hack job on the stock exhaust... I will buy a good condition "USED" full system though. For a everyday bike though I'm going the same route of the "Modded" stock exhaust, it's going to give you the same gains & sound (maybe) as a Slip-On. I believe in going as fast as possible for as less money as possible, that's car or bike for me. All the brand labels in the world don't mean anything when you get smacked by the DIY guy 🤷🏾‍♂️

      Yea my 2020 had timing and throttle cuts in 1-5 gears from the factory. Also new cars and trucks do the same; almost all major brands include some type of torque management software to limit power and essentially save on parts and therefore warranty claims. That and fuel economy & emissions concerns are the main reasons you can pickup 20-30 wheel HP on an otherwise stock NA car with just a tune. Boosted stock cars even more so.

      When it comes to Slip-Ons, they really only give you sound and nothing more. Yes they do reduce restriction that the "Stock" Pipe creates, but they also run off of the stock piping from the stock header. There's really no diameter increase. So, if you delete the cat & for example put a "Race Baffle" in your stock pipe... You have basically the same thing for little to nothing. The quest at that point is the sound you want, so you have to experiment.

    Great vid Chris from a Yamahauler! Could you talk sometime about time to horsepower with the dyno chart? Give an idea how it would improve roll on performance? Good luck this weekend and hope to see u in Valdosta if the commie border restrictions allow me in the country!! 😁

    What computer program allows you to view and edit the ECU parameters? Does it require an add on like a Power Commander or can you directly edit the stock ECU? Thx in advance for your answer.

    Hey! My idling on my Yamaha R6 2017 is flickering sometimes during different temperatures. Does it hurt the engine and is it enough to just modify the idling fuel/air ratio? My ECU is flashed by P3 Tuning. Thanks!

    Hmm.. so anyway I can gleam some timing knowledge from you? I have the 17r6 with a Woolich. Not many folks up here in Canada play with this, even less where I am. My bike is race only....and I "thought" I removed all the restrictions. I have never touched the ignition as it scares me.... Any help would be appreciated.
    If it is anything like the other maps ...they drop from the wanted value in the map (it should be 100… but drops to 85 in THE ECV map for example?)
    Thanks

    • @xxthehuskycaboosexx
      @xxthehuskycaboosexx Před 3 lety

      Not at all, clutchless upshifting doesn’t harm the bike whatsoever. Clutchless downshifting doesn’t harm the bike either if done right, but you have to be extremely precise. Generally it’s just better to clutchless upshift and use the clutch for downshifting.

    • @gwot
      @gwot Před 3 lety +1

      an ecu can always be flashed by having it sent in, but for the best of the best is always a custom tune on a dyno, cuz every bike is still ever so slightly different, especially if it's modified, you want it tuned for your specific mods.
