I loved my VHT 50CL Pittbull I had. Tighter and more complex tones then any Mesa Dual Rec I've owned. Loved it for the high gain stuff. If I was still playing heavier music, I'd prefer this amp over Mesa, Bogner, etc..such clarity with these VHT Pittbulls (now Fryette) too!

Great demo. I have a VHT clx that I bought new in 2000. It's never leaving. Nothing sounds like it and it can handle nearly any style of music. One thing, I would suggest you get the master up to around 1-2 o'clock and use the channel volume to control well, the volume. As the master goes up the amp gets clearer and more percussive, vicious and adds bite (I use it as a "bite" control). When not playing you can hear the master kick in around that level, much as when you dial in tone controls.

Did you perhaps get this sorted by doing some maintenance to it or is it just EL34 breakup which isn't there on KT-88's ? It becomes quite more apparant when the high gain edge switch is engaged. If I dial/eq that out as much as I can, it's an absolute monster of an amp. Also after seeing this I am gonna give that gainy green channel sound a try I think, that didn't seem to have the low end artefact that annoys me on the red channel.

But I just discovered the Synergy stuff, and to me the SYN2 loaded with the two Fryette modules could be the ultimate GP3, or should I say, GP4+ , with all the updates, 4 channels instead of 3, Deliverance voicing as a bonus (the GP3 was the UltraLead preamp only), IR output (the GP3 line out was rather useless), MIDI control, 1U instead of 2, and what’s even better, S.Fryette designed the SYN2 too, not only the modules, so my guess is that it should just rips! Had a UL for 25 years. Fryette is a powerhouse of knowledge in amp constructs with a keen sound aesthetic to the particulars of an organic and vibrant dirt tone. I would like to try his deliverance, but have yet to come across one.

Fryette Amps are killer. I had a Deliverance D-120 (120 watts of tube amp bliss). Only amp head I'd play other then a Marshall. Synergy is doing great things with Fryette. Mr. Fryette is working with Synergy to make his amps available in a different format. And yes, they sound like the amp heads as far as im concerned.

I've been looking for a sig-X for a while. That dry sound characteristic you described is something i find in my engl blackmore as well to some extent. When i first got that thing i basically had to relearn my picking. but the reward is first of all an insanely clear and tight tone and second a lot more control through your guitar's controls and especially your picking hand. Amps like these make you a better guitar player. Unforgiving, but hugely rewarding

I own both a Savage Mk2(basically a blackmore with a little more gain and tons more options) and a Pittbull and it's night and day. I actually just sold my Savage because every time I reamp for someone the VHT tracks are what the band ends up picking out of the two. Sell your Engl and come to Team Fryette.
