    If you have the chance to revisit this amp, I'd be really curious to hear your thoughts now after you have played and owned several high end tube amps since this video was made. The Sig X is one of my all time favorite amps and I think it is severely underrated. Loistava arvostelu ja hienoa sisältöä koko kanava täynnä! Rock!

    Hi Jake, great video as always!
    Why don't you make one about how would you use mooer preamp + radar live? I know it is only a backup for you but it can be really interesting :)

      I’m Euge but thanks anyways 😁👍. I haven’t had the need to use that setup ever since my main gear has been working like a charm but I might have something else coming regarding Mooer preamps and Radar so stay tuned 😉

    Hey you should really try out This Heavy Earth's T.H.E. GRIMM 3 for a boost pedal see what you think about it with the SIG X. Really love the FRYETTE sig X. Even the thick P50E speakers chug enormously.

    Geralt of Rivia during his timeoff reviewing amps. Awesome! haha Quick question : I'm looking at either this amp, the Peavey Invective 120w or the EVH 5150 EL34 100w. Which one do you recommend the most? There are about the same price. The Fryette seems awesome but I never got the chance to play with one. I mostly play punkrock/metal but I'm also in a post-rock/ambient/indie rock project. I played with the orginal EVH 5150 for a long time but got back to the Peavey 6505+ peavey I missed its aggressive sound. It'S jsut that I need more versatility with great clean and crunch haha

    Hey Euge, I've been watching a lot of your videos lately, awesome content, and lessons as well!
    I was wondering how the Sig x compares to your JCM 800's as far as playing feel goes? Does the Sig X feel similar, or is it pretty stiff like some of the other Fryette amps tend to be?

    • @EugeValovirta230V

    • @Robstafarian
      @Robstafarian Před 4 měsíci

      The Sig:X is the least "stiff" Fryette, followed by the Deliverance. Some of its preamp modes reduce the stiffness further, and you will probably want to stay in its 40W mode to increase its forgiveness. It will remain less forgiving than other amps.

    Tight, dry yet organic and articulate, love it. That ESP reminds me a bit of Kerry King's. Do you think the overdrive pedal was necessary to drive the amp to where it was, or you can get away without it ? Cheers from Morocco

      @EugeValovirta230V  Před 4 lety +5

      Glad to hear!
      Yeah there's tons of gain but like with basically all amps (no matter what the manufacturers say) if you add lots of gain from the amp the low end will become farty and mushy (unless you cut it out but then it sounds weak) 'cos usually the gain of the amp increases the gain for the whole frequency range (of the amp) whereas overdrive (SD-1 & any TS type) adds gain to mid & high frequencies and that's why the low end stays tight. I always use an overdrive in front of any amp for that reason and dial the amp gain fairly low to keep it tight.

    • @realtruenorth
      @realtruenorth Před rokem

      @@EugeValovirta230V I think Fryette saturates the mids and highs more than the lows, I think that's how they get that sound because my Marshall's lows fart out a lot more if I turn the gain up. Where Fryette stays tighter. I used to boost mids and highs into the front of an amp and then reverse it after to get that effect. Works really well with keeping the lows tight and still having saturated highs, and mids.

      @@realtruenorthThe circuit is pretty straightforward: from selector to a typical 500kΩ tone pot with the typical capacitor, parallel that input to a 1MΩ reverse audio (C taper) pot for the bass with a 0.0022uF capacitor (note the extra zero relative to the treble cap) between the input and output lugs, then wire the bass pot's output to a 250kΩ volume pot with your choice of treble-bleed circuit (G&L spec is a 200pF capacitor). The resulting pickup load is similar to a single 500kΩ volume pot, hence the additional control is pretty much free. The Reverend circuit uses a 500kΩ volume pot with a different treble-bleed circuit such that the total load is roughly halfway between a single 500kΩ volume pot and '50s/vintage wiring for a typical 500kΩ volume and tone setup.

    I can hear how poorly biased the tubes in the amp are. Ive had a few. Its the best Marshall ever made, but yours sounds biased way too cold. Sounds like the KT88s are barely on.
