Same set up on my Jap. cruisers Atago really is the best just because of molotov further increases that already nutty fire chance.
And yes thank you for pointing out DD play. The only time I feel DD suicide is worth it is when your taking another DD with you

Great Review, I have the Myoko with a few more upgrade slots to go but my Cruiser skill level is barely at Tier 5 and do OK with the Graf and De Grasse but I would say I'm better T3/4 DDs too which is way more fun and my T2 wiggly boats if I'm feeling blue. Working on Russian DDs at T3 so far and find them OK, lvl 11 Gurin, Bey and Vian both at 11 as well seems workable , not likely to pass T5.

Hey Tbull, how you torpin' up?! :D I got an irrelevant but rather interesting video suggestion.
If you got time on your hands, what do you think of doing a video on sth like naming 'what ship is best for what specific purpose?' For instance, a best for stealth-torping a best for sniper torpin or artillery sniping etc. (calculating & adding the respective commanders to the equation, with what upgrades and whatnot) more like an "introducing the beasts of every field in detail" video; a dedicated playlist showcasing the most suitable ship(s) for every playstyle!
Now, I know it's a lot of time-taking work, but I really think it'll be received very well and can be very helpful since everyone will be able to know which ship is good depending on what they want from a ship.
Also, I do wanna thank you for all the effort you've been putting in this tutorials for quite some time now, as one of the most prominent guide providing amongst only a handful of console WoWL youtubers. (which means having to experiment everything yourself first-hand, before getting the word out!)
Got a Kraken in my G-101 (Prem version) on my 4th Standard Battle since taking all that time off and just about pissed myself laughing driving my Tier 2 wiggly boats especially that Russian T-2 DD, what a riot!!!

Yesterday, I was in the Mutsuki at half health with a friendly BB against a enemy BB and a T-61. Because of my superior concealment, I sailed rings around him while he was focused on torpedoing my BB. He knew I was there since he was the reason I was at half health. I didn't dare shoot otherwise I'd get wrecked. I just kept him spotted and threw torps his way while the BB kept dodging the T-61's torpedo since he knew where the DD was at all times. Once the BB had whittled the other guy down after a couple of salvos, I started blasting him from the other side. IMO staying alive and keeping the T-61spotted was more important at that time. Sort of better the enemy you know than the one you don't. Would you agree or should I have done something different?

I find out of all the cruiser lines I play regularly (French, British, Japanese) I play the Japanese line the most conservative for the very reasons you point out here. I look at the Japanese line as a good middle ground between the stand offs (Americans and Russians) and the get in your face capable (German, French and British). Pretty good video. I'd like to see your take on the Russian DDs... I just can't seem to play them right consistently.
Hey Tbull love your videos man. Was wondering if you could make an accuracy/brawler build for the Bismarck and show tips on how to play it better. I love that ship but struggling with placements and angling and such. KEEP UP THE VIDEOS MAN!!

Yeah josh that doesn’t say anything. If your implying it sucks I assure u it doesn’t as I’ve gotten kraken unleashed multiple times in that ship and countless victories. If your saying it’s a great ship and the angles and placements are not needed as much I would still disagree “sooooooo” what more do u have to say?

Can you do a Video on how to play the Pensacola? i'm really having a hard time figuring out where and how to operate it.
Stay behind islands if you go head on agaisnt a battleship you are dead or even other cruisers. Pensacola has a huge above water citadel so you get absolutely wrecked. Stay behind cover and stay with your squad if you find yourself alone you are in trouble.
I always spot and capture firsts sport for the cruiser to kill the destroyers and then help the team kill the Batleships.
How strong is your preference for Ingenious over Reaching out? I always seem to go for range and then aim with my rudder.
I think I use ingenious in that every build that I run which has the option for it
the japanese cruiser line is my favourite! i dont agree that they are difficult to play, im unaware of an easier cruiser line maybe the us but most dont have torpedos & my play style requires an emergency plan

You have a différent gameplay to Spartanelite43 , you are more agressive in your gameplay and HO MY GOD !!!! , when you play destroyers ; there is no chance against you !!!!
I am forcing myself to play destroyers and its pretty hard because i am uses to play cruisers . I do it as good as i can .

Playing through with this one, I am struggling a bit with it. I do manage to do some "good work" with it, but I have better success with De Grasse. I tend to try to play the Cruiser almost like I would a Destroyer, perhaps my greatest sin.
I don't use gun lock, so will have to look into that, as I am new-ish to the game (6 months), there are things I need to pick up on.
TBull can you recommend a commander build for all of us that don't have ATAGO ? also any chance you could mention to WG that we would like the Polish DD available in the store !!!
He kinda talked about that in the first part of the video...he suggested using Mikawa for the "defensive" aspects...rudder shift, speed increase, turret traverse speed, ingenious perk. I still use Mikawa because I'm not quite bold enough yet to swap in Atago...I like to maneuver a lot in my cruisers, and Mikawa helps a lot...
If it were me I would of pursued that z23. Would that of been a bad play?
In order to spot it you would have to get on the cap. A cruiser moving up that aggressively very early in the game would likely take a lot of fire, bit it might have paid off
Rn cruisers are good for cqb with bbs when you have the

I'm surprised you let that Z-23 in the beginning take A without a fight. That cap remained in red possession the whole game.
Wasn't preferable, but in order to stop it by myself I would have likely had to put my ship at great risk
Distraction tactic: Don't lock on to ingenius users, works especially well on german bbs. Trust me they will wonder who's shooting at the water around them
I always use Gunlock but sometimes I spazz out and click both stick buttons and lose Aim lock!!!
How do you get ATAGO as a commander?
It was an event commander, so we will see if it becomes available again
What’s your recommendation for cruiser,? I’ve done all the battleship line and want to play cruisers before i play destroyers!
Japanese would be my recommendation for a first cruiser line

a good way to highlight positional mistakes/errors might be to freeze the game, and blow up the mini-map to full screen, and then point out how silly suicidal plays can look. like how your 5th grade basketball/soccer coach would tell everyone to FREEZE mid-play, and take a second to look where everyone is standing, in an effort to get the kids to stop swarming

FYI - myoko is pronounced myo-ko, not my-o-ko.
Tbull, why use gun lock?
Can't fire the guns when they are turning towards the aim point, so the more time they are positioned where you want to fire at, the more damage you can put out

I see Japanese Cruisers like Megami otago and miyoko as Fleet Cruisers that screen destroyers and other Cruisers
I rather my Japanese Destroyers don't go fighting other Destroyers and leave it for me cuz I can 2 shot them with japanese cruisers
