- A short but sometimes technical hike (~2 miles) along unmarked trails off of Chimney Top Road. This hike visits the magnificent Cherokee Arch, the secluded Mushroom Arch, as well as the four Rat Windows.
The trail begins near the Chimney Top Parking area (3.5 miles down to the end of Chimney Top Road.) The Princess Arch trail is about 150 feet to the left of the trailhead, which is marked by two posts.

Note: This video depicts only a tiny fraction of the vast wilderness around the Red River. Plan ahead to avoid dehydration, exhaustion, inclement weather, and dangerous falls. Getting lost will obviously exacerbate all the above risks.

I finally tried (and succeeded) finding Cherokee Arch today. It's kind of a tough hike but worth it. Recognizing certain spots from this video ended up being a big help. 😁
Great video guys. Can’t wait to check it out. Loved the background music too. Thanks for sharing. 😃👍👍
Great video. Thanks for taking us along to these places
This was a really well done video! Thank you for explaining all of the parts of the trail and hike. I am excited about being able to watch more of your videos! I subscribed :)
Arbitrary Exploration, thanks for subscribing. We are glad you liked the video. Hope it helps you on your exploration of the gorge
Tried to find this Saturday afternoon, should've known it was too late in the day. Didnt find it, but did find a large rock shelter at the end of a very steep hill. Prob a half mile or so from the start of this trail head. Any idea what we found? Love your videos, keep em coming!
So I visited cherokee arch today. Took the route you guys showed but had heard that there is a more direct route if you go straight (right) at that 1st fork toward Schmidt's rock. I ended up making a loop out of it and took that other route back but what the heck is Schmidt's rock? I didn't see anything that stood out to me... Granted I took that route backward so maybe I just was looking the wrong way and missed it but I cant even find a single picture or word about it on the net... What is it?
Thanks in advance and I appreciate the content!
Is Lost Camp Arch in the same area?
What map are you showing?
Hi Scott. Because we were navigating without GPS or even a reliable map, the video map is merely for guidance and includes estimations. In the meantime we have been gathering GPS and other data on the gorge and hope to create updated maps and directions for many of these hikes.
I love these videos! I also love the absolute random choice of musical selection for the Montage. For some reason my family says I kind of look like Johnny bluegrass
Music is overwhelming
As always good job guys, and thanks for the shout out... FYI ... I'm a he not a she! I know my momma spelled it wrong!
