If I were you, I'd watch that one instead :)
Even the cast is a lot better that the TLA movie
TBH I didn't mind the casting choices in that movie. The acting needed help. For example Aang (I refuse to call him Aung or Ong ) was drier than the desert. There was barely any emotion on that guy.

I think Azula would be the hardest one to really nail down. The way she walks the subtle line of sly insanity is brilliant. That final scene of her breathing fire and screaming in chains always gives me chills. If Lizzy Yu can pull it off I'll be super stoked. Uncle Iroh is my favorite character and I know he'll be given justice and the rest of the cast seems really spot on. I'm excited for this and I've been waiting a very long time... I think I'll be happy no matter what happens... Thanks for the video đ
@@bodigames lets not assume stuff before we can actually see her act. some people come with surprises. as an azula SIMP i can also understand the worry. i have high hopes and expectations and i bet she KNOWS that everyone else has high expectations too
@@bodigames how can you tell? She literally hasnât had a professional acting gig before, she could be incredible
@@joshphillips5238 exactly! We don't know what's to be expected for her. It's a big roll with big shoes to fill. But she did get casted for a REASON the fact it IS her first ever gig just shows how impressive she may be!
@@bodigames They don't just look at pictures and say "You've got the part!". They have to send in videos of them saying certain lines and expressing certain emotions, they also usually have multiple live auditions too before they get cast for a role like this. I'm sure she's been cast for a good reason. lol
EXACTLY. That's what I was saying!
To me one of the most important things for sokka is his voice. I LOVE that the actor they chose has a very similar feel to Sokkaâs voice. Iâm actually intrigued
Right? the voice is spot-on! Actually looking forward to this
Sokka's voice and character is everything. I hope the writers understand this.
@@CalynnCorner The writers most likely donât. The people from the og animated series left, and all thatâs left are Netflix writers. Thatâs not a good thing.

It's currently June 23rd I'm excited for it to start!

Azula wasnât in season 1?
Iâm worried for this show. The casting is near perfect, but with it being a Netflix Show and the fact that the original writers for ATLA left the project I just canât help feeling like Itâs Cowboy Bebop all over again. I really hope the cast will carry this show. It deserves a great adaptation.

@@thepinkestpigglet7529 oh no. Well let's hope it is something not as bad as it sounds
The cast is pretty impressive, but Iâm in agreement about azula being the hardest role. Being given to the least experienced actress đ but they cast her for a reason, sheâs probably actually a mad genius
The hard part of playing azula would be her flawless moves when it comes to fighting. You can see in the show how her fighting style is way less "sloppy" than everyone else's, being that she is such a perfectionist, and I don't think that will be easy to replicate. I don't think the acting would be THAT hard thou..
@@dificulttocure good thing thereâs retakes in the film business lol
@@dificulttocure true. Tight controlled movement, precision
Many amazing actors we know today who are super famous started somewhere! This is a wonderful opportunity for her, I think pressure helps most actresses/actors thrive. The pressure of performing is amazing fuel
The fact that they casted them doesn't mean they're good. Did you guys watched Death Note or Cowboy Bebop?
I had an emotional roller coaster with the intro. He said âguess who you think went first and put your avatar trivia knowledge to the test.â And so Iâm like âoh easy it was Sokka catching the fish. What a dumb question.â And then he mentioned the opening to the show being Katara, I felt like the biggest idiot in the world I was like âhow do you forget the damn intro bro.â And then he said Sokka and went with my original thought process. The amount of validation that just gave me was wonderful, thank you.
Me exactly
The ONE thing I liked about the movie-that-shall-not-be-named was how they did Aang's tattoo. Very cool and creative. I hope they do something similar in the show!
The Fire Nation ship designs too were badass. They better keep that too.
I also really liked how they did Yue's hair
I know all of you fans does not like M. Night Shamalamaladingdong's firebending but for me... It make sense... That firebending needs to have a source cuz think of it... What makes the firelord and the royal family special? because (here is my idea) they are the only ones who learn from the dragons and capable of creating fire from their chi/qi/energy like it was a decree of firelord that only the members of royal family have the privilege to learn from dragons (of course aside from sun warriors cuz it was their culture learning firebending from dragons but outside of them) but then sozin started the dragon slaying for his generals that makes the dragons hide and no more that privilege available and so the royal family practice different firebending techniques such as lightning introduced probably by azulon, and and explosion by combustion man. Aaaand just to mention sozin has this skill to redirect or control the flow of heat cooling off the volcano that erupts where roku lives.
Those are the cool ideas to be introduce in live action to widens the story telling and gives fresh outlook to the avatar world and not just copy paste.
@@markanjelloagrabio7515 But do you have any idea how much that will weaken the fire nation? The whole reason they were able to take over and continue a war for a 100 years was because of the fact that they don't need a source of fire already existing
If they need a source with them at all times all you gotta do is get a couple water benders , put out the fire, and you're done, problem solved, take out all the soldiers instantly
Fire would immediately turn into the weakest element
Also, in the show it's clearly stated how fire comes from the breath, and also chi, and fire benders draw their power from the sun
Also, just think about life
Every other bender would have their element with them at all times
Air, air is literally everywhere
Water, same thing for the most part, only very few situations where that wouldn't be the case
Earth, also literally everywhere, only case it wouldn't be somewhere is in a wood box, or a metal one unless you're a metal bender
And it's the same thing in real life, these elements are just around us naturally at all times and always have been and always will be, we don't need to make it in order to use it
But fire? We need to make fire, it's not just around us
If we want fire we need to make it by using a match or a lighter, so how's that much different for fire benders making fire themselves? Sure there's less chemistry involved, but same principle
So no, in the end it doesn't make sense, and even if it did, it's something to be overlooked otherwise the show would be extremely weak since the whole war wouldn't make sense as a result
Lol you-know-who (Voldemort)
After this video I am surprisingly optimistic about Dallas Liu portraying Zuko. His martial arts skills were incredible at 11, I can only imagine how good he is now.
Yeah I just saw that part and I'm thinking "wow this could work good"
He doesnât really look like zuko tho but he isnât too bad at all because of the martial arts aspect so I should be optimistic regardless !! Canât wait for this series
@@thechevy1275 he doesn't have to look like the animated character, he just needs to portray his qualities well
No hate to dallas liu but after watching shang chi, i thought the actor for teen shang chi would be more fitting. @@OrionG yeah, that's what I meant. It's been a while since I read the article.
I am open to them deviating from the original series, as long as they keep the spirit and the themes of the show intact. I think it's a new medium and new format, it would be stupid to make a scene by scene live action copy. However, the story should be good and should make internal sense. With a solid writing and good acting it could work. I just hope, they don't unnecessarily try to make a 'dark and gritty' adaptation.
Yep!
I think we saw that once with the movie but with the series it seems more possible for a lighter and closer to the original story
There are a few episodes that are kinda filler tbh. So they could totally replace those with something better. While roughly still be as long as the original.
@@Martin-yh7vi exactly
Tbh Avatar was already quite a dark story, just played off by childish humour. I saw someone complain that they would add a sex scene and I was like wtf? The only cast member of the main cast of age is Zuko's, that shit would be child porn if they added it.
Personally, I hope they make the episodes flow better than it was originally. Its one of the parts of atla I did not enjoy, and one reason I enjoyed Korra more (other than its more mature writing style). Each episode felt so disconnected from the rest (unless it was a 2 parter).
This aged like fine wine.
One thing that matters for me is, i really sincerely hope everyone cast has WATCHED the original animated series.. at least twice , they can capture the essence of the characters
Aside from the casting, like he said, the writing, pacing, visual and soundtrack are what I'm curious about the most. Although mainly the writing and pacing is what i'm worried about. I'm a little hyped but worried sicne I really want this show to succeed to not just the avatar fans, but everyone else to watch and enjoy if they haven't seen the series.
I really hope they have some new compositions while also utilizing the original soundtrack. The live action Aladdin did this and it worked REALLY well imo; old fans could appreciate the original soundtrack but also be introduced to new melodies

@@HazelEyes485 ... Im not sure that's all that important in the grand scheme of things.
Not Zuko, Azula or Fire Lord Ozai. They all have baby faces compared to the characters who had more mature, rugged features. I get they wanted to do Asian representation, but they couldnât veered a little off course with the royal family.
@@jpierce8148 what do you mean baby faces? Zuko is supposed to be 16 in Azula is 14. Of course they have baby faces. They're babies. And Ozi actually looks exactly like the cartoon character. The man has cheekbones for days. I don't really know what you're talkin about.
And anyway everyone seems so hung up on exactly how they look. I care more about how they act. Alot of the characters look accurate in the live-action Last Airbender movie. Do you really want a repeat of that?
I was worried about the actor for Zhao at first but seeing that clip in "Industry" kinda makes me feel like he'll do a great job.
Ya i was the same when i saw his pic but the dude gives off the perfect vibes for zaho in his acting
Ken is awesome, believe me :) He was amazing in Lost and Industry, but you can see even more of his 'bad guy' acting in Rush Hour, where he was the main villain :)
I'm confident he'll do great as Zhao!
He also played Juntao in the original Rush Hour, and it shows that he can play an intimidating villain.

Definitely hyped and has high hopes for the series now.
its risky and probably will payback them
I'm excited for the first live action Avatar for some reasons due to the actors/actresses alone. They already look pretty spot on. I hope for the best.
Pretty good video. The royal family looks awesome, but Azula's actress is a worrying issue to me, since Azula is my favorite character. I don't know if she can play the terrifying aura needed for the perfect daughter of the Fire Lord.
Lizzy is definitely a wild-card since there's almost nothing about her outside of her relationship with Gaten (Lizzy has 400k Instagram followers vs Kiawentiio's 100k, lol). But I'm guessing the fight for Azula's role was hard-fought, so her audition must've been something else.
There are so many actors and actresses that look sweet and kind but they can play the most evil and horrid characters. I think sheâll do good đ
true, but honestly i dont think anyone can do it perfectly
@@Shahadatayn I don't think perfection exists in the real world. But Damn good is fine enough for me.
I'm curious if she can pull off the mental breakdown part of her story. That moment when she completely loses it when she's chained up is honestly burned into my brain. I'm not saying she couldn't do it but i am curious.
They should have kept Daniel Dae Kim's casting as Firelord Ozai top secret. Like the animated series, what made Firelord Ozai mysterious and terrifying was that the viewers didn't know how he looked like right until Book Three. Anyways, still excited for this and hoping Netflix can pull this off after the two creators opted out. Fingers crossed.

True
But the thing is... while they didnât show Firelord Ozaiâs face until season 3, he still appeared in a few of Zukoâs flashback scenes in season 1 and 2. And I doubt when the credits are being rolled theyâre just not gonna add his name just cuz they werenât supposed to show his face yet.

For the zuko scar I think it should be something in the middle between the two example pictures. The first example was the right size and placement while the second was closer to the intensity of the burn itself despite being way more wide spread than it should have been. So yeah just dial down the second oneâs intensity a smidge and make it just in the eye area and you are golden
I hope Kyoshi gets more screen time, her story is so interestinggg
FR I HOPE I LOVED KYOSHI
The addition Suki's mother is an interesting one for me! To me it's a sign they have confidence in making the story their own and not just trying to make an expo dump of the original. That's never happened of course, but could you imagine how awful that would be
As long as it doesnt suck tho
More often than not, changes come with shit
Ex: netflix's winx club đ©đ
Literally the opposite
I'm excited for it too, I just hope they don't bog it down with virtual signaling and fake wokeness, "woah, we added a female leader in a show that already showcased strong powerful women." I think it will give Suki more development tho, so I'm very happy for that potential.
I think changing the mayor to female feels fitting for the Kiyoshi tribe, tho still a surprising one seeing that the original mayor barely had a role but I can see it being good for exploring the story of the island a bit more and it would be interesting to see
Ian Ousley as Sokka, so as we know, Sokka is "the humor" of the Avatar, the last Airbender. His character, moves, words all in all everything humor, interesting and funny. Ian Ousley's, really somehow good, and his physical skills could make Sokka as I want!
Great video! Thank you. The diverse cast is so exciting.
I'm excited for the adaptation overall, but what are they going to do about the Aang/Katara romance? I just don't know how that's going to work with Cormier looking so much younger than Kiawentiio. Katara is canonically supposed to be two years older than Aang and while that extra year between the actors seems like it _shouldn't_ be that big a deal on paper, seeing it in live action is going to hit a lot different. A 12 year old making googly eyes at a 15 year old can be cute, but that 15 year old reciprocating? idk. Its uncomfortable, imo.
I guess they _could_ get around it by making their bond more of a sibling one, but even that isn't a perfect solution. Ship warring aside, that would change a lot of Aang's development throughout the show and it sort of dampens things from Katara's side too (given she already has a brother). I don't think fans are going to realize just how _important_ their romance is, until it gets written out. His feelings for her, maturing from a childish crush to life-long commitment, perfectly mirrors his journey to becoming the avatar. His attachment to her is so meaningful and unique to him that it literally blocks his final chakra in a key moment and nearly kills him. His personal fear of Katara rejecting him romantically is one of his most humanizing and relatable conflicts; many times its the only thing keeping his character grounded, with destiny and prophecy and doom all hanging over him. Without that romantic element - which is the only difference between their relationship and the deep friendships he develops with other characters throughout the show - how is the story going to justify all that?
Is anyone else concerned about this? I like Zutara as much as the next chick, but I'm not willing to sacrifice all these core character concepts for it.
Katara doesn't openly reciprocate until season 2 of the animated show, and there is no physical element to it until late in season 3. So if season 1 of this show drops late this year to early next year, then season two will probably begin filming in late 2023. And then maybe season 3 begins filming in late 2024 (that is, if the show gets renewed).
All that to say that Gordon has some time to grow (and actually go through puberty) before the Kataang stuff would really kick into high gear. And those three years will probably make a huge difference (some 16 year olds can grow full beards lol). And just look at the clips of Kiawentiio in Beans; it only filmed two years and she looked just as young as Gordon does now, because she was.
Also, Dallas is already 20, so even though people seem to think that Kiawentiio looks older for her age, I highly Zutara will happen because a 20-year-old getting with a 15-year-old is definitely not the answer either đ
@@BabyLionTurtle I mean, they do kiss in the cave in season 2, so I don't know if I'd say there's no physical element. Maybe they'll skip that bit, but we still don't know if they're planning to split the series neatly where each animated season ended. The fact that they've already cast Azula makes me doubt they're going to tell the story at the same pace. I don't think they'd hire an actress just to shoot one blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene with her in season 1, but I could be wrong.
Hopefully there will be a gap for Cormier to age up a bit, but keep in mind that while there's a chance he could be 15-16 by the time season 2-3 comes around (small chance, but maybe), Kiawentiio is still going to be aging too. A 15-16 year old pursuing an 18-19 year old isn't much better tbh. :/
That's true about Zutara though. I agree that's not really a viable alternative. Man, I'm not sure what they were thinking, honestly. Are they just going to eschew romance all together? 'Cause that'd be a shame. :(
@Rheeii Lack of Zutara is totally fine. But as far as romance in general goes...? Did we watch the same show? Because the will-they-won't-they stuff was pretty oblique from the beginning, is hinted at every other episode practically, and serves as a major plot point more than once. Trust that the story would lose a lot of dimension - a lot of _flavor_ - if you were to cut it out.
@@EmphaticNod I agree. There were times when Aangâs feelings for her were motivating factors and in a few episodes whole plot points or key plot points. I agree her feelings and conflict werenât as highlighted, which is a shame and sometimes comes up as contentious among fans with ships. But make no mistake his feelings for her are important to his storyline.
They could change it to Katara just not reciprocating Aangâs feelings and him having let go of his feelings for her and keep most of the same plot points as Kataraâs feelings were kept vague until almost the very end.
My child self is so happy weâre getting faithful live action adaptations of both Avatar and Percy Jackson.

um....have you not seen rhe plot details that were released? Ozai is a CEO now, Aang "develops magical powers" its not going to be anywhere near faithful.
@@life_is_no_fairytale those were rough guidelines for the auditions made at the beginning of the production. this will be a faithful adaptation as many of the actors themselves have said.
@@cr4zybird right.....because something that's drastically different from the actual plot is a good idea to use as guidelines? I call BS.

They are really built different. Wow, I didnât expect them to be so much dedicated and also so cool even before the shooting. I mean so cool to have people *who actually care* about source material. And Iâm just really hopeful for writing, acting, CGI and tone of series. Great video
I want to be optimistic but honestly I just donât think a live action avatar is a good idea. A lot of the physical comedy and bizarre character designs only work with the medium of animation, and I donât really have an interest in watching the same show, just with a different look, so I fear that theyâll have to alter the plot to make it interesting- which will only piss off fans, such as myself.
That, and it just bothers me that they keep redoing existing shows and movies when they could just write a new story instead.
I understand your point of view. As someone who often takes sketches/drawings into a 3D scenes/models, I am very excited to see my favorite show/world get brought to real life. It is kind of like how Harry Potter was brought to life from the books. Hogwarts became a real place occupying 3D space, and that amazes a lot of us.
This!
Agreed. I wish the film industry would make animated adaptations of live-action movies instead of butchering animations with bad live-action cgi shit.

@@macayclelland8468 but to be fair adapting a book and an animated series arenât very comparable
Right? But at least this cast seems to be a much better fit than the cast of the movie.
But they could just start after the war, bc the animated show of Aangs adventure stopped with the crowning of Zuko, but if i'm remembering right, the comics are ongoing after that. Or they could just make a show of some of the other Avatars.
They really nailed the casting. I can mostly imagine all fire nation major characters in the actors that will portray them. Was skeptical bout ever doing another live action but I'll definitely check this out

The casting directors clearly attempted not to white wash the characters, but imagine being responsible for casting and you have to you have to find two young actors from one of the smallest ethnic minority groups in the country to play twp leading roles in an adaptation of one of the most beloved fantasy tv shows of all time. Can you seriously name 2 of ANY 100% native actors or actresses age 14-20 without using google? If you can I'd be very impressed because that's an extreme niche.
Choosing mix-race actors and actresses is not white washing. White washing is casting white people, like what the movie did. And the Sokka's actor lying thing is just stupid internet misinformation and rumor. Basically, someone checked 3 tribe registries for the actor's name and didn't find it, and without doing any further research or even reaching out to them they just started making posts about how the actor "lied". You shouldn't fall for such poorly researched internet drama.
@Nonaya Bidness Most of the casting is bad. The natives are whitewashed and the fire nation, which is modeled after imperial japan, is a bunch of chinese and koreans that definitely cannot capture imperial japan vibes because they look very chinese/korean. The only japanese actress is Suki's mom, which is earth nation modeled after china, also looks unambiguously japanese, so there's more clash there. You can tell she's from japan at a glance. Her daughter Suki is somehow chinese/white? None of the casting will fit well if you've actually been around natives and east asians from japan, korea, and china. If you havent been around these people a lot, you probably cant tell the difference tbh, so ignorance is bliss here.
Can't wait! This has been a long time coming! Glad they kept the actors to look like the characters. Looking forward to seeing it! â„ïžđ€Ż
Young Zuko at the end of the video training fire bending is so cuteđđ„đ„đ„
I loved Kiawentiio so much in Anne with an E. Her storyline is the main reason I wanted more of that show, and I can't wait to see how she does as Katara
Same here! I was pleasantly surprised to see her cast as Katara.
SAMEE! I was so happy to see her cast as Katara, she totally nailed her role in Anne with an E and I can definitely see her as Katara... im so happy for her
i feel like these almost pointless episodes of the animated series are one of the most improtant because it shows how the different characters evolve and more aware of what's happening around the world + how they can help in any way
The last airbender is one of the few shows Iâve seen that does a good job of expanding the universe and characters using filler episodes. Except for the great divide. That episode was smth else đ
@@idk_sis yeah đ€·ââïž
@@idk_sis I honestly enjoy the Great Divide. I understand the moral is a little hazy since "why is lying a good thing?". But it's such a good example of the classic Hatfield vs McCoy struggle, but without the familial killing, and showcases Katara and Sokka being siblings beyond chores. And it shows how quickly someone's perspective of something can form based on their surroundings and refusal to listen to both sides of an issue.
@@idk_sis the great divide was good the first time watching
@@amandaslough125 the great divide mainly bothered me bc they couldâve taken everyone on appa in turns but decided to cross the dangerous and time consuming way lol. And bc Katara and Sokkas bickering was pretty annoying, I love those two and I have a brother myself but they didnât even take time to really sit down and listen to the other. Aang lying wasnât a huge issue for me, felt a little out of character but then again thatâs what lifeâs about. Sometimes you do the unexpected or take a different route than usual to solve an issue. So overall it wasnât awful, just a little different then the characters usual personalities. But then again theyâre just kids so Iâm not gonna hold it against them. 7/10 episode for me
Dang it looks like they got aang an actor that is a lot younger than katara, thatâs sad since they are supposed to be together and the animated show did an amazing job with making them look relatively similar aged
He's 3 years younger than Katara's actor, compared to how Aang is 2 years younger in the series, it's pretty accurate compared to most casting where they're usually much older.
Are they only gonna do the first season of ATLA? I hope it do well when it releases so that we can also see the other seasons being adapted into live action.
This is very random and probably not gonna happen, but I really hope that they keep the simple yet memorable little theme songs for certain scenes from the original show, like the ominous song thing that played when you were introducing the actor for Azulas character. They were some of my favorite parts of the score and really added something extra to the show.
i just hope appa doesnt look like a terrifying monster unlike in a certain film that i seem to have forgotten the name of
yea letâs not refer to that film
I hope Ke Huy Quan will be in the avatarverse ! Even if itâs a small role to startâŠmaybe the cabbage man ? Or one of the air monks? Or an earth bender character who knows
The avatar outro tune at the end of this video was a perfect install. Iâve been watching the show all over again I have the full series on dvd and itâs my favorite kid, or, animation, or anime tv ever. Even if it is TV-Y7. Itâs a masterpiece
I still have my reservations, since this IS a Netflix adaptation. But the casting alone already sets it miles ahead of That Movie That Shall Not Be Named Because It Doesn't Exist. Judging by the background skills of much of the cast they will actually lean into the martial arts aspect that drives bending.
Iâm a little nervous about a power house personality like Azusaâs being placed in the hands of a novice actress. I hope she can deliver a truly good performance. Azula is of course a perfect mentally ill villain lol. I hope she can capture it
@@lzrrnr23 I know, right?!?! Thatâs why they had to cast Josh Brolin as Thanos. He already had the purple face and skin!
And you know what all actors ever since the beginning of time were before they got their first role? Not actors.
@@lzrrnr23 they chose her for a reason. don't be an ass

@@lzrrnr23 Tbh it could actually be the perfect move like a Tony Stark situation. Ofc even though RDJ was more experince in acting lots of ppl had misgivings about him playing Tony even Disney thereself but ended up doing the role absolutely perfectly and its hard to imagine anyone else as him.
@@lzrrnr23 youâve never seen her act so you canât judge her until you actually see her in the role smh
I'm excited but also nervous about them casting Lily Yu as Azula given that she is a new actor. Its either she is that good or they made a mistake. Azula is one of the most intriguing, complex, and compelling characters in the series so getting her right will be difficult.
âCall me Gran-granâ had me rotflol. Super excited about all these casting choices!!
I know when Netflix needed the original creators the most, they vanished, but I hope, The Live action can save the world.
Woof, I don't like this timeline lol
that's Netflix fault tho
Even though I think this series isnât really needed, Iâm feeling kind hyped. I really want to see how theyâre gonna pull this off.
oh man, the cast looks amazing! I really hope the writers, costume designer, producers etc live up to the task!
sooo excited for this cast!! lets be sure to support and cherish them!!!
Azula craziness is going to be very difficult to portray
Her final fight really made her go all the way crazy so it'll be interesting to see how the actor will do
Also everyone will need to get jacked to do some of the bending techniques
Yep, psychotic characters needs extra works on the acting, otherwise we have something like joker from suicide squad all over again
I'm just here to say if the show is even 3/4 as good as the casting choices it'll be more than enough to hold the world out till Avatar studios releases thier first stuff
Omg YESSSS Iâm not even done with the video and Iâm impressed. This cast is phenomenal already and I canât wait to see them in action ahhh đđđ
Tbh I was kinda skeptical at first but then I heard the budget thing, my expectations have been raised
Fr. 15 mil per episode? That's gotta mean something. Regardless of whether this show can't live up to the original, I'm sure it will be far more watchable than the movie that shall not be named
Amazon's Wheel of Time series was about 10 mil an episode, and personally, I thought it was trash. Money isn't everything. No amount of money will save a trash script. The Last Airbender cost 150 million, and we all know how good that movie turned out. True, 150 mil would only pay for 10 episodes. The show is only going to be 8 episodes, so they're actually spending 30 mil less than the movie did. So, 150 mil for 100 minutes of film, vs 120 mil for 480 minutes. Almost five times as much film with 30 mil less money to spend on it. Just some food for thought.
I honestly just hope they include a live action version of âSecret Tunnelâ
I WOULD LOVE THAT
Dude, that;s the sacred backstory for Omashu, definitely need to be the part. Don't worry.
the cast is already amazing and the trailer also breathtaking. i cant wait to watch it
Damn Fire lord Ozai looks the best. I think Daniel Dae Kim is a perfect look for that role.
I just hope that they learn from the horrid mistakes of the live action movie and stick to the original plot and essence of the show. I only have concerns about Aangs actor being so young and with a heavy, lead role it must be done correctly and I hope he can handle it.
I'm just happy that this isn't owned by Disney cuz they f*ck up every show cuz they know nobody has an alternative or competition because they buy out all the competition. I bet if it does good they will buy the rights to avatar universe and turn it into some crappy woke movie.
The cast seems genuinely more fitting to the story than what the movie-that-must-be-forgotten was.
The only thing bothering me is the age disparity. It is a show about young teenagers, 12 to 16. Not young adults. So I'm skeptical to how this will translate in the live action adaptation.
Bro thats what im saying. Aang too young to be a romantic interest too katara or even be on the same wave length as the person playinng sokka. Thereâs an 8 year gap right there when in the shownit was a 2-4 year gap. But atleast in the cartoon they all looked around the same age
Tbh the fact that sokka and Katar we're aged up and anng wasn't always bothered me.
@@Frazier16 Exactly. Either they commit to aging everyone (but this will conflict with the spirit of the show which is about children facing war) or they stick closer to original ages.
But getting some 20yrs old Katara to hook up with a 12years old Aang is going to feel super cringe. ^^
@@etienne8110 they donât really hook up in the show itself, unless you count the possible kiss in the Cave of Two Lovers, do they? (And even that was nothing more than a kiss.)
Unless there is canon that says otherwise, I choose to believe that they didnât get married until 10 or more years later; even if Katara was 30 years old, it wouldnât be nearly so cringe for her to marry 22-year-old Aang.
Besides, some teenagers look like theyâre in their 20s, and vice versa.
@@paulchapman8023 They french kiss on multiple occasions (only once in book1 indeed, but in the other books it happens more than once).
In the books there are barely a few months passing, there isn't a full year between book1 and the end of book3, so you can't say they age. It will still feel cringe.
Unless they rewrite it and have the story span on a few years in-story.
I heard they're going towards the angst route and honestly, I don't mind it, I want to see the horrifyingness of blood bending showing the moment when someone completely loses control of their body, the heartbreaking of Azula's mental breakdown scene, and how scary aang is when he is in the avatar state, how heart racing it is when crystals slowly restricting your movements until only your face is shown, or showing the wrath of the ocean spirit when it lost its companion and strike back against the fire nation army, there are many more scenes that don't fully show the darkness of it because of the light-hearted tone of the original series, so I pray for the success of this live-action
AHHHHHHHWJWJJWJW IM SO EXCITED FOR PAUL SUN-HYUNG LEE!! U SAID IT PERFECTLY, LITERALLY A CASTING MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN!!!
I love when the "7th" person is the little girl saying "Magic, do it again!" And Aang is like, "No, it's not magic" đ
This cast is amazing. They can take creative liberties and change things, thatâs fine. As long as they keep the themes and tones and overall story the same with this cast itâll be a great adaptation
This is the best casting for any adaptation ever, in my opinion, hopefully the show can keep up
Aang and thy water tribe look nothing like their characters.
12:42 why does the actor for ozai, looks exactly like ozai?!?!? like the man said he's perfect for the role of ozai
So excited about them adding Suki's mother/a female mayor character, hopefully we'll get some good Suki backstory and development through that relationship and dynamic as well as more stuff between her and the other Kyoshi Warriors. This video's got me more hopeful about the series again after the thing about Ian Ousley potentially lying about his heritage which is so disappointing as Sokka's one of my favourite characters.
The fact that they bring all the character from book 1 is crazy. And perfect casting. Hope this show turn out well and not be cancel
I am actually pretty excited about this series. The only thing that keeps gnawing at me is that the original creators left the project. I really REALLY hope Netflix can pull this off.
Iâm kinda worried about that too. I can only hope
Yh , it seems like he left because they weren't in agreement so that worries me
I truly believe they left the project because they wanted something woke as they did with Korra y Netflix *hopefully and susprisely* did not leave them do what they want â€
I dont think I've seen a cast so well done as thisđČ, I'm excited to see their tales bringing our beloved characters to life.đđ»đđ»đ
As seen him in other things but remember Daniel Dae Kim most fondly as Yen Lo from Charmed! xD the casting looks great actually looking forward to it! Itâs great to see people in the industry respecting the source material giving fans what we fell in love with! Maybe the they will have the original artists produce similar music for this adaptation because the original is so nostalgic and perfect canât wait to see it! :)
I forgot that in a live action the people have to actually do all of those tough bending motions, I canât wait to see the stunts performed in real life! Props to the cast!
Iâm super excited for this especially since this is the first ever live action of Avatar the Last Air Bender and no one has ever even come close to making one before. Canât wait to see what they put out!!!!

It looks like they finally started putting more thought into the cast election. I like most of them but I'm a little unsure about Aang being the main character and the actor with less experience, it will be hard but I hope they coach him well and has a lot of support to have a good performance despite his age and experience
The one with least experience is Azula's
I always have my concerns with live actions, but I have faith with this casting! Even with this slight issue about Sokka's casting, I'm hoping that they pull through regardless and prove why he's the best choice
WOW!! I hope they bring it to life amazingly!! With a cast like that it looks so promising!!
awesome vid! thanks for the rundown!
"Big Baddie Fire Daddy" LOOOL! This video was amazing! Thank you so much, now I'm actually excited!
I'm apprehensive, but I'm willing to give them a chance and will try my best not to compare this with the original, but treat it as it's own thing.
I would love to play as , the cabbage guy.
Great start with the cast. They look terrific. I feel like they should take time for world-building, too. Here's hoping they catch the same kind of synergy Peter Jackson had when doing LOTR between world-building, script, shooting and editing. Definitely looking forward to this series.
The fact that Lizzy doesnât have much other material is actually a good thing (probably). Because she lacks both major industry connections (AFAIK, though to be fair, she must have some ties) and any sort of fanbase. That means she landed the part off her audition and talent alone.
It still baffles me why people want animated shows to have live action versions.
The real fan base asked for the comics to be animated not this
honestly, most of the fans i know don't particularly want this (especially after the horrors of the movie adaptation) but hollywood just loves to reuse the same stories over and over again instead of creating new ones lmao. and if netflix is gonna do, i might as well watch it, which is exactly what they're counting on
The animation was just so perfect, we really don't need a live action. Certain things just can't be pulled off, which were incredible in the show. But I will watch to see how this pans out
Because the theme of the show still makes sense gor live action and the idea could be pulled off beautifully. Its not the same case like one piece where the characters and environment designs are just way too absurd to be adapted into live action and should stay as animation, avatar has a lot of realistic stuffs that can be translated into real world visuals easily, and with realistic effects and cool story telling it could be a great piece of art
@@TheProxy2 Comedy would be greatly affected though and it is one the greatest foundation of ATLA. Same goes for emotional scenes. Live action adaptation of an animated series will always feel like watered down and dull
Sokka is so lucky to be Suki's love interest here
I'm waiting for Ozai and Zuko interaction. Like:
-I have my honor. I have my honor! I have... I HAVE MY HONOR!!! I HAVE MY HONOR DR HAN, I HAVE MY HONOR!!!
As long as the bending is like the cartoon then I wonât have a problem with it. Fire came out from the hands of the fire benders not from wherever there was fire source.
