    Some context for everyone: "čiūto tūto" (chootoh tootoh) is a non-translateable phrase common in Lithuanian folk songs. Repeating it helps you to hear your heart and find your inner voice.

    • @jovita9323
      @jovita9323 Před rokem +101

      As an expert in Lithuanian folklore :D, I would like to add on to this :):
      "Many people are struggling translating words ČIŪTO TŪTO. Yeah, because it's impossible :D. Don't worry, we, as Lithuanians, don't know the true meaning. BUT not understanding smth with your mind doesn't mean you can't feel it with your heart and intuition :).
      What we know for sure is that these words are definitely not without a substance. The exact opposite - it is believed that these words (called refrains) have very deep meanings, but we no longer understand them because they are incredibly ancient, older than our modern language.
      Lithuanian folk songs and multipart songs have hundreds of different refrains, like: čiūto, tūto, čiūtyta, oi lylia lylia, liūlio, laduto, ralio, tatato, ratuto, dūno, dobilio, tram tralia, etc. It's possible that some of them are linked with pagan gods, rituals and have magical meanings. Other are like onomatopoeias - imitating nature or instrument sounds. Different refrains are found in different types of songs like war songs, lullabies, wedding songs, advent songs etc., they evoke certain feelings fitting the occasion but their true meaning is still a mystery :)"

      Adding an example : czcams.com/video/Wbyn61KgaqA/video.html
      In the video above is a traditional Lithuanian polyphonic song and it also has an element of "čiūto". Monika Linkytė is also referring to our folkclore with her modern style amber earrings.
      My interpretation is that she Linkytė refers to this vibe of Lithuanian folk songs (including polyphonic sutartinės) with the last a cappella bit :)

      "chootoh tootoh" gets in my nerves, it sounds repetitive, for me it destroys a good song. I can not listen this beautiful song until the end only because of this chant. I do not like it!

    There are many reactions to the Eurovision entries; However, the comments of such a talented and honest vocal coach is of another level, indeed: a great video to learn from you Georgina. I am so happy that you are fond of the Lithuanian entry...´Čiūto tūto´ is an ancient ritual spell- affirmation of the Lithuanian ancestors calling to come-back to your inner-self, embrace your pain body and live in harmony with your spiritual YOU (closer to nature and your soul).Thank you so much!!!!

    I think we could quietly have a really nice moment in Liverpool with Stay, as the crowd will most likely sing along with Monika which should give her song a memorability factor. She's also in the second half of semi two and the UK is voting in this one, and they tend to send a nice chunk of points to Lithuania. This song is being slept on a bit and that's a bit of a downer.

    For more than a decade, Lithuanian multi-voiced sutartinės have been internationally recognized and included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Čiūto tūto is from pagonism time meaning. Čiūto tūto - these are combinations of words used in Lithuanian contracts, which we cannot translate into any other language. It is said that Lithuanian goddesses used them when singing to return to themselves and thus hear their heart

    Its hybrid vehicle this performance. Half of it driven by traditional drama singing and half of Lithuanian continuing motives. Kind of nice mixure but could
    Include more creative switching from
