The message is indeed sisterhood, but there's a secret meaning : The sisterhood is actually the Slavic countries. Basically, the narrator(s) is Czechia, the sister is Ukraine and the person trying to take the crown down is Russia

@@JamesBond-lp9wr No, it is actually about countries. First of all, lyrics in Czech, Bulgarian and Ukrainian represent the three branches of Slavic languages. The music video has great symbolism in each frame. But the simplest representation is My Sister = Ukraine, my fellow Slavic nation, and Crown = Ukraine's sovereignty as its own state.
Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic... - Slavic Sisters. Sisters are together when one "crown falls". Sisters are not dolls for Russia.
The song is in 4 languages: English, Czech, Bulgarian and chorus in Ukrainian saying: “My beautiful sister, you’re so strong, brave and only one, the crown is yours” and while it speaks about feminism it has also hidden message. The original video of this song starts with an intro (Not on ESC channel but on the official channel of Vesna, since EBU cut that part of the video cause it was bit political) that’s saying that: once upon the time there was love and sisterhood in Slavic Kingdom, until one day when everything was forgotten. So, it can be said that currently the sister whose crown is under the fear of taking down is Ukraine.

A beautiful song indeed! What you have missed so far is the non-English parts of the song: there are Czech lyrics at the start and end, the rap verse is in Bulgarian, and the chorus is in Ukrainian. The members of Vesna are also from various Slavic countries, with 3 Czech members, a Bulgarian, a Russian, a Slovakian member; although apart from these 6 ladies they collaborated with a Ukrainian musician to create this song.
Vesna ('spring') celebrates female empowerment and Slavic unity, and their official video (featuring subtitles for the non-English parts) has a lot of symbolism in it. Here is the chorus with its translation:

Hi Georgina! Love your videos! The first time I heard this entry I thought it was ok but now it’s my #2, it’s such a grower.
The song is actually about Ukraine. The sisters are referring to the Slavic nations as the band members are from different Slavic countries. They use Czech, English, Ukrainian and Bulgarian in their song. I really hope it does well as it deserves a high place.
You should check out the video they made. It explains the "theme" or lore behind the music with showing all the languages used.

but the chorus of this song is performed in Ukrainian. and they support Ukraine at the moment. and they want to say that all the Slavic peoples they should be together. and about the fact that Ukraine needs to keep the crown now.😅

As an American male, I have very little say on Eurovision, but I love this song! I have trouble hearing the difference, but the song has four different languages in it: Czech, Bulgarian, English, and Ukrainian. Having multiple languages on its own is impressive, but I love the messages as well. While it does empower women, it also refers heavily to being in a "sisterhood" against oppression, like what is happening with Russia and Ukraine. I don't know if it will win, but it's definitely in my top 5.
It's my number 3 but also my number 1. When it comes to common good 'radiosongs' I think Norway and Austria are 1 and 2.
But if they win, I'm happy too. I need them to win top 10, at the least.
The song has a reference to Ukraine's situation, the ''sister'' from the title is Ukraine, the sister of the other Slavic countries, many Slavic languages can be listened to in the song too. I think you will figure it out now with what I've said.
I hope you are able to see the music video for this song. It is so well done and they sound and look amazing in it. It will give you more understanding what the song is about visually and lyrically. As you said it is female empowerment and women supporting each other, but also unity of the Slavic cultures with reference to supporting Ukraine. As someone with Serbian family history even I am proud of the song too.
There are actually 3 different Slavic languages, each one for a different Slavic language family (western - Czech, eastern - Ukrainian, southern - Bulgarian) so it kinda symbolizes all the Slavic nations, with our similar languages, related culture, traditions, history... related just like the sisters in the video. Plus the members are from various Slavic nations - three are Czechs, one is Slovak, one is Bulgarian and one is Russian (+ they've also collaborated with one Ukrainian). And the song is about the support to our Slavic Ukrainian sister who is in need. I can't even say how happy I am for seeing my country sending this time something more traditional, ethnic, with (also) Czech language... something that I've been waiting for for years 🤩🥰
Btw. just to let you know - the group is called after Vesna - an old Slavic pagan goddess of spring and fertility 😊

„Our song „My sister`s crown” is about all people who experience some kind of unfreedom, like oppression from society, trends, technology, and it's such a symbol for these people to put on a crown and feel strong enough.
The song combines four languages. As the author, I wanted the Czech language in the song, because I think that it makes sense to preserve the Czech language in a world competition and to have enough self-confidence to stand up in a foreign context.
But of course we will also find English there to connect the individual nations. And there is also Ukrainian, because this year's Eurovision is dedicated as a tribute to Ukraine. And there's also Bulgarian, because one of our member is Bulgarian, so we wanted to include this language, and pay tribute to other Slavic nations as well.”

I love this song- I hope they find some budget so that the performance matches the high standard of the song, singers and official video. If they do that I can see this doing really well in the final.
I read somewhere that they are supposed to work with the director of their video for the song during the stage show in Liverpool.
One of my favorites along with Norway's entry. I can't decide which one I like better. It's just such a powerful and fresh pop tune. Also, the way they sing in different languages but the song still flows so well is just perfection.

I love this - definitely one of my favourites along with 🇮🇹🇫🇷🇳🇴. To do it justice it will need better staging but if the Czech national final was done on a low budget that would explain why it's a bit basic in this clip.
The message of unity and solidarity will hopefully endear it to a Europe-wide audience. Not sure if it will win but I think it's got a good chance of making top ten.

You were very close to the meaning of the song. "Sister" is all Slavic nations & the world (why English is used), minus Russia. It is more about Ukraine as a sister. If you watch the official video in their youtube channel, the English lyrics are at the bottom with what language it is (EN = English, BG = Bulgarian, UA = Ukrainian & CZ = Czech). The verse is in Czech and English; the rap is in Bulgarian & the chorus is in Ukrainian. My favourite this year along with Italy!!

This is amazing. Real artists. We need to see more daring musicians like this. And I don’t mean absurd stuff like you know who. It’s a bit of a tough piece to pull off, but these ladies are kick ass. Such a great blend of styles.

You should watch the video clip of them cause for me its better than the live on tape performance!!! The meaning of the song is political at all , but so interesting!!! There are too many symbolisms in the video clip...The are talking about the slavic kingdom who broke due to fights andeach country became enemy to the other!!! Each girl symbolism one country from slavic kingdom!!! In the video clip one girl ''plays all her money'' another ''look herself in the mirror and she can see only her beauty etc...!!! In my view, its contemporary and a masterpiece...The only thing they should do for doing well in esc is to bring their video clip into the stage and all the girls sing together not as in their live!!!

It´s a song with apolitical subtext... Ukraine is the sister in this song. They are singing in czech (first part), than english, chorus is in ukrainian and rap part is in bulgarian. Vesna is a czech female group mashing czech folclore with modern music. There are 6 members of the group now. Three are czech, one from Slovakia, one from Russia and one from Bulgaria. They are making their own music and playing their instruments. They are awesome!
The Bulgarian rap 👑
The song's a dichotomy between female empowerment and Slavic unity. The individual girls representing different Slavic countries are reminding you-know-who that Ukraine is a sovereign country, so don't take her crown. They sing, we are not your dolls (symbolising the Matryoshka dolls), not to be played around with. The video is epic and worth a watch. My number two behind Spain so far.

Due to the low budget of ESCZ (czech national final) the overall performance is very low-quality (staging, mic quality, backing track, etc...)
The music video has A LOT more impact, and is probably a lot closer to what we can expect in Liverpool due to a much larger stage and higher budget.
I would recommend looking at the music video on Vesna's channel! It has the lyrics translated to English, but the song is actually in Czech, English, Ukrainian and Bulgarian! (The music video on the Eurovision channel does NOT have the lyrics included!!)

The song is about Ukraine - if you look at the lyrics it becomes more obvious. It's about the other countries of eastern Europe and their support for Ukraine... Ukraine is the 'sister'. 'My sister won't stand in the corner, nor will she listen to you, my sister, wild at heart, will never let you tie her down'. 'My sister's crown, don't take it down, nobody has right to do it' 'you can take your hands back, no one wants more boys dead' 'My beautiful sister, you are so strong, brave and the only one, the crown is yours'. The chorus is also in Ukrainian whilst the first verse is in Czech and the rap is Bulgarian :)

It is very nice when the song isn't obvious and require some thinking.
It's probably easier to pick on the theme of the song as an Eastern European and a native speaker of a Slavic language, but it's about the Ukraine War, and the theme is not subtle. The band members come from a range of Slavic states, and they address Ukraine as their sister - a fellow slavic nation. They tell her: 'My beautiful sister, you are strong, brave and the only, the crown is yours'. (those are the lyrics of the chorus, translated from Ukrainian) The crown represents sovereignty, which Ukraine rightfully owns. They tell the aggressors: "My sister's crown, don't take it down, nobody has the right to do it". And they have some pretty direct anti-war messaging: "No one wants more boys dead." etc.
So this song is about Ukraine but it can also be read as feminist song. The sister in the song is basicly Ukraine which is why parts of the song are in Ukranian (and Bulgarian, Czech and English).

The group has members from 4/5 different countries, portrayed in the song as well with their respective langauges. The song is mostly about Slavic/Eastern European sisterhood, being independent as women and as countries/cultures.
I think however that there is an underlying tone of anti-war/Russia going on (this is why the music video is important)
Russian imperialism was/is usually signified with the purple colour, which in the music video appears a lot, with men dressed in this colour trying to "control" the women like puppets (them breaking free and standing for their own cultures). Also a scene where one of the girls is getting spoonfed a red fluid, which I think stands for the Soviet propaganda
However, the second part is a personal interpretation; I might definitely be looking too far into it and/or be completely wrong 😂

I believe the band met at university, they were all studying music in its various forms. My take on the 'we are not your dolls' has a double meaning. it is using dolls to refer to Matryoshka (Russian dolls and tying into Russia's 2021 entry and staging) and also commenting that like dolls, or puppets, they will not be contorted messed around like a puppet from the big bear. The rest are as the other comments. So won't repeat their comments.
... actually the song is a voice of support for Ukraine. Don't worry, I misunderstood it too at first. Your interpretation is also considered valid.
In terms of vibe, this is another of "mixing modern production patterns with folk sounds" trend, taking inspiration from Slavic folklore, particularly Ukrainian, Czech and Bulgarian. These three languages are also included in the lyrics.

this whole national finale almost didn't happen as Czechia, due current economic crisis and Eurovision not being really so popular among Czechs to justify the expenses, been seriously considering withdrawal from Eurovision and the whole finale had to be planned and staged in mere few weeks and with no budget to talk about.
so if one wants to understand the meaning of the song as the singers intended it its better to watch the official music video( it includes English subtitles so everyone can understand the lyrics which combines 4 languages).
so while the song is obviously about women and womens empowerment its also about Slavic unity( theres multiple nationalities in the band- Czech, Slovak, Bulgarian and Russian and the group in general is big on those topics) and Ukraine and her ongoing fight against Russia( the chorus is in Ukrainian and the Russian woman in the band has to leave Russia and is currently living in Czechia and is vocal about her anti- Putin stance and being against the invasion and war in Ukraine- but cos she's Russian she still gets lot of hate for it and that she dares to sing in Ukrainian)
