He was a wonderful guy, a beautiful soul and had a heart of gold.
His fans all over the world are going to miss him. RIP
Yet he did nothing to help anyone as he couldn’t even help himself because he didn’t have The Lord in him.
Thank God he wrote his memoirs before he died. I am sure he helped a lot if people. He left a very positive legacy. He had a lot to be proud of.

He turned his old house a sober facility for men with addictions and he wrote his memoir detailing all the bad incidents that happened to him and how he ge got over them. Idk why you have to be so negarive relax
In 2003 I was in a head-on collision and suffered severe injuries. I think God everyday that once I healed (over 25 surgeries) I laid down the pain meds and walked away, never having a problem with them. I am SO DAMN LUCKY! RIP Matthew and may God bless your soul!

He wanted to be remembered for getting clean and helping others get clean more than he wanted to be remembered for his character, Chandler on Friends but he laughed and said that to be remembered for that was nice too !
Having that last sentence end this clip was perfect and heartbreaking because he literally did live the rest of his life proving just that! Eerily tragic that he made that statement less than a year ago!
The greatest accomplishment in an active addict's life is staying clean and sober one day at a time throughout the remainder of life. It far exceeds anything else and on that point, Matthew Perry could not have been more clear or more correct. Blessings Matthew. You will continue to carry the message of recovery from the other side. All love!

I hope that all this publicity raises awareness of what he was trying to do and how much he helped others while he was still here. It’s sad as a society that more is said about them when they’re no longer here. Not a dig at anyone at all, just a sad fact of todays life. I hope he did know how much he was loved while he was here, and not just after he’s gone ❤

That visual of addiction waiting you out, while doing one-arm pushes perfectly educated me on what addicts face on a day-to-day basis. I was a big fan of Matthew Perry the addict-in-recovery. His disease could not dim the light of his TRUE nature, which was a sweet and gentle spirit eager to help others. I never met Matthew. But I feel as if I knew him. Forgive me if that statement offends anybody. I just mean to convey that his book gave us a glimpse of his virtually life-long battle with his disease and his new discovered greater purpose. I am certain his legacy will continue to save many. I get it. I get him. He was a good actor. But he was a greater human. Ready and most importantly, oh so willing to help other. My most sincere condolences to his family, his inner circle and the community in recovery that inspired him so. May he rest in peace. Respectfully. ❤️🩹💐

When he talks about waking up and thinking up ways to get his 55 pills each day, that is ALL an addict thinks about. I was not quite addicted (only six a day of Vicodin), and no withdrawals.but I went to NA when I realized I might have a problem, and this is exacty the testimonials you hear.

Where tf were his supposed friends and family? He himself said he was lonely and being alone kills you. He said this in numerous interviews and wrote this in his book. He even got engaged just because he didn't want to be alone, which was during Covid. And yet, another year later after his book, he was still alone. He was reaching out for help in so many ways. He was there for everyone else but no one was there for him. No wonder he was depressed and desperate. I truly believe that if he had felt real love and loyalty in his life, he would be alive right now. Such a tragedy to lose such a legend like this, needlessly. RIP Matty. You were too good for this world. The only good thing is that you're not in pain anymore, but what a price to pay. You still had so much more in you to offer in this world and you wanted to do it all, but seems like you finally had enough and gave up. You deserved to find true peace and love and for that it's so heartbreaking.

They were kids in their 20s when they did the show. No one in their 20s is equiped to handle a friend with those problems.
What about the "adults" in his life ? Some of them taking profit of his fame without taking care of him ? So sad he lived and died alone ...no offense to anybody. But it strucks me everytime a "celebrity" dies alone in his/her house. My fantasy being that they - if not relatives or relatives living in or nearby - at least a pa. Totally not like the series ",Friends" IRL.

He aged terribly. Couldn’t even talk right anymore. He seemed like he had such a sad, depressed life. I don’t understand these people get fame and fortune and they are so miserable..moral of the story is none of that will bring you true love or real happiness.
He knew that he had aged. He himself said in an interview in 2021 that he looks at 53 like at 65. He said that before the reunion of "Friends" all his teeth fell out and he would no longer speak the way he used to speak. He understood that he was constantly killing his body. A man who has been in a coma for two weeks and survived feels the breath of death. He survived to write a book, to send a message to others. And yes, his life really shows that money and fame cannot replace the sincere love that he has lacked all his life.

Friends, particularly MP, was really loved in the 90s by the exec world- office professionals, managers, finance execs etc, who sort of identified with him and who ironically would've been the kind of profession MP himself would've ended up in had he not stumbled into the lovey, liberal, artsy, woke world of acting..even his city slicker type competitive tennis was a sort of vestigial need for the real him, what he could have been..he was just dislocated and frustrated. His problem was not that he ' lacked Friends'....just that he was derailed and in a sector he didnt belong. I dont think the Friends Enterprise have any idea just how conservative the majority of their fan base were ..?

They're talking about his drug and alcohol addiction so much they want us t think that's what is was.. but they don't know! People die at 54 from heart attack without ever drinking or smoking or drugs. We are supposed to die! In life. We are not immortal. Yeah 54 is young.. but just about everyone I know is dying younger now days! And more frequently!? It's scary yeah. But nobody knows their time. So just be grateful for this moment and each day. A lot mysterious death going on to I should add.

For victory over addictions: Fasting and prayer.
Cease from food for a season and call upon God for strength to help you keep the fast and to strengthen your will power. If you can learn to resist that which is good (eating food) for a season then when temptation comes to indulge in vice your will power will have been strengthened. The more you do it the stronger your will power will become. It has been working for me. To make it easier you can start by doing a liquid fast. Juicing fruits and vegetables and greens. You will still receive the benefit of exercising your will to resist eating what you really want to eat but you won't feel as hungry. Then you can graduate to total a abstinence from food for one or even several days. Take it slow and see how your body reacts. Will power is a muscle which must be strengthened through exercise. Good looking young man, has everything going for him, wasted so much of the time on alcohol, etc. Devastating. Seems all too common, also unfortunate every time. Hopefully the future holds, individuals realizing the strength of reliance, full dependence upon God, faith, hope and love. Hopefully far less individuals are impacted by alcohol consumption, drugs (illegal/prescription) etc. Hopefully.
