    Having an organized process for climbing and descending when packing your gear. I second that tip 100 percent!! 😊

    Great video! I started girth hitching my tether and it helps tremendously with gravity sway! Thank you

    Great video! I will be using one or 2 of these tips, thank you for sharing this with us. Your going to want to use an oval carabiner for your kong duck to avoid side loading. Same thing goes for the CT roll n lock. That thing is too cool! Good luck this season and stay safe!

    Great info. Thanks. This will be my first year saddle hunting. I went the one stick and the rappelling rope. So far really enjoying it. As for the pack I went with the Kuiu 3000. Plenty of room and not bulkyWas able to practice and shoot my bows from. Opening day is Sunday

    Yes sir all great points. Last 7 weeks with new saddle. Its a very big learning curve!! I did watch and learn for a whole yr before pulling the trigger. Still a ton of stuff I never hear guys talk about. Lots of stuff can get caught up while going up or down. Watch your hands under the Linesman’s rope. Platform and sticks get them on you for climbing up not having them bang around. Positioning your Bow, pack, and being able to reach them and work around them as needed. Just a bunch of little stuff also!!! But I still prefer it over a climber. Easy walking in and out plus lighter.

    As a guy with bigger feett I've found if my feet dont have something fully under them i can only last a couple hours at most. My current platform only supports half of my foot. I find my legs get shaky and feet sore after 2 hours. New platform is the top of my list before next year.

    Why is the kong duck device so popular in saddle hunting when its not a fall arrest device? 4kN and the rope will slip.

    A $7 micro pulley makes a prussik 100% one hand adjustable and can be adjusted while fully weighted. Worlds better than mechanical IMO.

      Have you tried a CT roll n lock? I understand your point as far as safety goes. Your setup is as safe as it gets for sure.

  • @wyrnutz
    @wyrnutz Před 10 měsíci

    Nice video! solid content, more emphasis on the safety aspect maybe .SHOOT the bow from the saddle. Like that you covered how tether height influences hip pinch. Well done, wish you were not tied to Tethrd, I get though way better options for saddles IMO. Keep it up. The one the only Old Guy Bri.

    What pouch are you using to keep your Doyle’s in?

    • @bowhuntordie
      @bowhuntordie  Před 11 měsíci

      The Lockdown saddle has two large dump pouches built directly into the sides of the saddle. They have grommeted holes in the bottom that we fish the cord through and it works great. For some of us with older saddles we either clip the hoist on our backpack or one of the molle loops on the back of our saddle.

      He's running a Mystery Ranch Treehouse 38. But we've tested the Treehouse 20 and 16 and they both work great depending on how much gear you want to pack in with you.

    You might consider 2TC, and not have to deal with all the problems with sticks.

  • @teddysmooth267
    @teddysmooth267 Před 11 měsíci

    losing all those sticks for a single stick platform on top is the way to go, forget about carrying all that crap. simplifies drastically including weight and ease of set up

    “…Only way you get up the tree is with a good set of sticks”
    Not true. Lots of other options for ascent during saddle hunting. Doubled stationary rope climbing.

    You def don’t need a platform lol. As a matter of fact, you shouldn’t use a platform for saddle hunting. I don’t know where it came from but a ring of steps is what you should be using with a saddle.

  • @n2trkys18
    @n2trkys18 Před 11 měsíci

    First thing is safety. When using your saddle as a stand, you need a second point of attachment as a safety. Every saddle hunting vid seems to support not using a safety. Terrible practice. Always use a safety.
