I want a prairie for all of the reasons you covered! I'm about to retire from the Army after 20 years and just just bought 80 acres of good hunting land to put new roots down on. It's all woods, switchgrass or crops. I want to remove most of the switchgrass and create a prairie that will help to hold more animals on my land as opposed to the neighbors.

I just done over an 1/8 th of an acre all by hand and a 125 coolster 4 wheeler, and it actually looks like it's going to work really good as long as the pellet lime i put down late winter had time to react! If all else fails i have 3 bags of Winter wheat to save the day! It's getting planted anyway but it will still save me if the brassica don't do good! Great video like always Todd! Be watching y'all for many yrs now!

Graf I’m really diggin what you n the team have been putting out this off season!! Keep these informative videos coming. I put my fall release green cover plots in with a drill last weekend before rain here in south eastern Missouri. Like your new intern we also had a few micro or hidey hole food plots or kill plots we had to rough up and broadcast as well. Seed to soil and rain is key

I apologize if you covered this, and I missed it. One of the most important and overlooked steps in food plotting is to get a soil sample. The vast majority of food plotters would be far better off spending money on lime than on fertilizer. If the soil ph isn't right, the plants will be unable to take up the nutrients from the fertilizer. Great video!

  • @occultustactical6138

Great video! I'm looking to establish a pollinator field of about a 3/4 acre above our home. Recently drilled switch grass to border my food plots which are 1-2 acres each in size. We have some recently planted apple tree's that will additionally benefit along with existing pear tree's. Again, thank you for a great video! Learning alot.

The best saddle/mobile hunting backpack ever created was the Mystery Ranch Popup 28. It is a sin that they did away with that bag. You can carry any type of portable deer stand or platform in the load shelf of it and strap your sticks to the sides. The pockets are perfect for in the tree. The treehouse is more suited for private land people with stands already setup. It doesn't have a load shelf or waist belt. That is a no go for hiking a half mile plus with all your gear plus provisions for daylight to dark hunting. If I had to buy a different MR pack for whitetail it would be a Pintler.

I use the pad from my turkey vest instead of knee pads. The back band is great for all day or if you end up in a tree that is leaning towards you a little. I agree with pretty much everything he says in here. I hunt high though. I was over 40' on one hunt last year. I switched to one sticking so I can go as high as I want.

Nothing negative intended, but after saddle and platform, I don't use anything else mentioned. Climb w a Sladder, friction hitches for one hand adj on my lineman's and my tether, which is also my rappel rope. More than one way to skin a cat, but I usually walk far and look to stay light as I can.

We've got about 10ac in honeybee 🐝 habitat, the 2x smaller parcels that don't have hives I typically burn, but the big parcel w/ hives I've neglected for a few years. I'd be curious how I should maintain this piece that's now exhibiting early successional characteristics e.g. box elder, autumn olive, etc.?🧐🤷
