So, I removed the old rusted flange and the wood floor ... my plan was to put in new plywood and "circle cut" it around the now "naked" sewer pipe ... could I just screw this into the floor or is a new flange required under it ..?
I'm REALLY HOPING that you read this and respond ASAP! 🤞 I installed one of these at my daughter's house and after putting the toilet on top and locking it down it got to the point to where I felt if I was to tighten it anymore I was going to start cracking it! But yet it's still with rock on top of that hydrosee and I don't know why. I think I didn't have enough wax in between the old flange and the hydrosy that's my guess. Because I watched another video of another gentleman who did this and he recommends cutting your wax ring in half so like an idiot I did that and I think that kind of screwed me. And to make matters even worse, after the wax oozed a little out of this sides like yours, there was gaps to where there were no wax coming out! So I tried to compromise the best I could, and ran a bead of silicone sealant around the wax ring as a precaution! But, even after that the toilet still rocked back and forth a little bit! So I'm kinda at a stand still hoping for some advice! PLEASE!!!! Thank you!!
If your toilet is rocking it sounds like you need shims between the toilet and the floor. The wax is not there to level the toilet but to prevent sewer gas from escaping into the house. I would suggest you remove the toilet and make sure there is enough wax under the hydroseat. You can remove and reinstall the hydroseat without a problem.
i use these but i also use a wax ring on top as well never had a problem
The blue thing saved you
Thank you. Very helpful.
