    I am not an Engineer but from common sense, more part you have more things can break. I am staying with the mortar and backstop.

    Not a good idea. Mortar and backstop are much more secure over time.

    This device appears to waste more time than it saves. Just drill a slightly oversize hole, use expanding cement to fill in the gap and walk away. There is no need for a device such as this to complete this task . If you really want to save time stop drilling 8" holes for 1-1/2" pipe!

    not convinced....at all.
    Plastic threaded pipe, tighten from both sides....just like a sink
