  • 🍽🍴🥄:
    Orange cake is a refreshing and flavourful one with juicy bites.
    Making cakes with fresh fruit juice would be extremely delicious and refreshing.
    Orange zest is one more important ingredient in an orange sponge cake, which doesn’t just add beautiful fragrance but even adds amazing flavor.
    Required ingredient:
    Eggs-3
    Sugar-3/4cup or 160gms
    All-purpose flour-1 and 1/3cup or 160gms
    Baking powder-1/2tsp
    Butter-2/3cup or 150gms
    Orange juice- 1 orange
    Orange zest-1 orange
    Method:
    1)Take out the juice and zest of one complete orange.
    Always prefer taking the juice and zest just before making the cake, which helps in maintaining the fresh factor.
    2)In a bowl, break 3 eggs, add sugar, and whisk at low speed for 5 mins, increase the speed, and blend for 10 mins till it turns frothy.
    3)add butter and blend again at medium speed for around 5-10mins till it turns creamy.
    4)Sift the flour and baking powder, gently cut, and fold.
    5)Add the fresh orange juice and fold gently.
    6)Once done add zest and give final mixing.
    Preparations:
    Grease a loaf tin with butter and dust with dry flour.
    Pre-heat oven to bake mode for 20 mins @180degrees
    *Bake the cake @160degrees celsius for 45 mins in bake mode, cool the cake completely ad cut it.
    The most refreshing homemade orange cake is ready.

    Hi, I tried few times, still the cake when cut open, the upper part seemed fine, but the bottom part looked uncooked. I guess the problem is the egg/sugar/ butter did not mix well (separated in between)to have an overall good texture? As advised, I already when added in sugar and the egg to the butter, only little by little, then beat well with a hand held electric mixer (for how long this is need?). Where I went wrong? What is the required techniques? Please kindly advise. Appreciate your kind help. Thank you.

      For one egg 1/4cup buttermilk substitute.

      Yes you can, just try to beat till it has melted completely and turn frothy. Ensure the speed is low or medium, so that you can have an eye on texture while whisking. 😊

    Helloo...
    I just saw the recipe. I have two questions. 1. Can i add some apricots to the recipe? How to do that? 2. Your whisking time is a good 22 minutes total ... wouldn't that be too much?? I've had a bad experience with over whisking where my cake rose and then sunk in the middle.
    Can u please help??

    • @Homemade_food_by_deepthi
      @Homemade_food_by_deepthi  Před 3 lety

      Whisking in medium speed would be good enough, if you have a doubt regarding over whisking, you can even whisk in low speed.
      Ensure everything is incorporated well.
      And coming to apricots, as it has a hard pit in the middle of it won't be good in this cake.
      You can try using dried apricots which are finely chopped instead.
      You need to add them in the end of whisking and gently fold with spatula.
      Happy baking 🙂

    • @renukatalreja8999
      @renukatalreja8999 Před 3 lety

      Hello.... thank you for your quick reply. I meant the dry apricots...the round disc like orange coloured ones without the hard pit. If i cut the recipe in half...will the whisking time remain the same?

    • @Homemade_food_by_deepthi
      @Homemade_food_by_deepthi  Před 3 lety

      @@renukatalreja8999 Dried apricots should be added in the end after whisking, you need to simply fold after adding apricots should not whisk after adding'em.
      You can refer my banana cake recipe in which i have added chopped walnuts and how i fold them with cake batter, use that technique.
      I have never used apricots earlier, you can give it a try and just in case if you feel there is a chance that apricots may sit in bottom.
      Slightly dust them with some dry flour before adding.
      That will help the apricots to evenly sit inside the cake.
      Do let me know how the cake turned out, even i will give a try with apricots.🤗
