    I know I am years late in seeing this video, but I have to tell you that for me it is a transformational video. I have attempted to do it myself. Your explanation and timing of the sequence has really opened my eyes. Love the content, love the explanation. Thank you

    I have to say you give some of the most important tips on the little details that many instructors never mention and it explains why some golfers get extra yardage out shots when others wonder how do they do it. You videos are outstanding.

    I feel like you read one of my previous comments, and decided to address this. lol Timing this left side extension is literally my swing thought as I'm playing. On days that I do it correctly, I play scratch golf. VERY important move!!! Well done.

    This gave me an “Aha!” moment (“Eureka!” :). I found and lost the ability to get my right shoulder down and my elbow into my side and have been searching for it ever since. The feel of straightening my left leg sooner than later just glued my entire swing back together. Thanks man.

      @@jchowngolf Took it to the course yesterday on my first swing of the day, and my drive was 30 yards past my previous best on that hole.
      It is also my “problem” hole that gets in my head, so that made it especially gratifying.
      Just watched your backswing depth video, which is the other place I get into trouble (not turning my shoulders enough). Very helpful regarding avoiding early extension 👍🏻

    This moved my irons strikes a good 2 to 3 inches in front of the ball and my driver is way more consistent on the upswing. Thank you very much for the video!

    Brilliant! May I add, that along with all this, for me, it's been crucial to get my hands low early and the to right of my hip--that being the lowest point of the hands--and then coming around to extension exactly like you point out. It's not a natural move for me because I've always tried to 'hit' at the ball. Like all typical amateurs, I'm not special, I'm just a regular guy trying to break 80 consistently. This has helped a lot, it's even helped just on short pitches etc.. Thank you.

    Really good video. What I particularly like with your swing is that it’s the left side extending and pulling around, and not the right side. “ firing” the right foot,
    Keeping the right foot, flatter, later in the swing.

    I tried this move with my driver (before watching the video) in my last round. It worked wonders, and feels very "mechanically" right as if the force directly affects the acceleration of the clubhead. Definitiviely gonna work on it more.
    Its fascinating watching people like Bubba Watson execute this technique.

    Hi there, the method you use reminds me of the Stack & tilt era. Also, your wrists tend to break at implact instead of having your hands well forward of the club head. Otherwise great swing !
    I myself have the my left knee bent at impact and mostly from P7 to P9 and then it straightens at P10. It very difficult to get rid of this problem which I probably developped in my youth reading the Jack Nicklaus' books. Nicklaus insisted that the hips should slide and the drawings showed a bent left knee...

    Thanks for the video, it seems the timing needed to switch to hit a a little earlier is milliseconds, i have better luck sitting club 3 inches behind the ball and doing the same swing. But i will give this a try. i fear thinking about a little earlier posting will fail me under pressure. thanks for the video.

    ....when I watch myself on slow motion video, my lead ( left ) leg is still very bowed outward, even after impact.....I 'am rotating my body thru , however my timing seems off ...as I can't seem to get my left leg straight , until a bit past impact...this is creating mostly very weak shots......I can't seem to find the correct feel .....any tips?...thanks much

  • @tomeldridge2915

    Most instruction pertaining to knee action advocate external rotation of lead thigh to begin the downswing with no straightening until club is parallel to the ground. Although you lightly touch on this movement, watching your swing it looks like you straighten your lead leg immediately in transition.

    On the downswing do you think about rotating the chest to get the left hip out of the way or simply rotating your left hip

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  Před 2 lety +3

      Rotating the chest through from shaft parallel is ideal. Hips/mid torso then chest 👍🏼

    If I just rotate continuously the shot goes straight. When I try to post the left leg with the driver I end up pushing the shot so I assume I am not timing it. I think I will have live with a few less yards as straight golf is fun golf.

  • @Concordeagle

    Is it possible to extend the lead leg too early? Like right at transition?

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  Před 2 lety +3

      It definitely is. If the lead leg extends early it will lead to a lack of rotation and shift

    Idk guys, JChownGolf has to be amongst the best instructors yeah? Because he speaks nicely, never waffles and unlocks the how's of those mind-body blanks I have about the left side being key and how to effectively ask my body to do something and it easily can by doing this. Please let my arms stay out of it until it's the right moment in time! Don't you love it when a little light bulb goes off that connects your mind, consciousness and the body parts you want to command, for the squat and extending up.

  • @jlbradders
    @jlbradders Před 8 měsíci

    Are you supposed to straighten rather than lockout the leg? I imagine a lock out could be damaging...
