  • Mexico is hard at work on a massive development project that the country's president hopes will rival the Panama Canal. It won't be just another waterway, but when it's finished, the Interoceanic Corridor will connect ports on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Mexico in numerous ways. President Andres Manuel López Obrador is looking to the U.S. for support on the project. But Indigenous communities are fighting the decision. So, will the Panama Canal's dominance finally come to a halt? Let's find out more! A rail line option is hardly worth considering from an international point of view. It can make sense only to Mexico and even that is so limited that Mexico would quickly outgrow the capacity and benefit.
This Mexican project is cheap, feasable but in the end hardly moves the needle for anyone.

very dumb idea, cargo ships carry between 10,000 to 20,000 containers that are unloaded on a train that holds about a most 200 comtainers. it would take a month or so to unload a ship, and a month to load it full again. the same at the destination port.

Not meant to replace the Panama Canal it’s meant to be an alternative
