A rail line option is hardly worth considering from an international point of view. It can make sense only to Mexico and even that is so limited that Mexico would quickly outgrow the capacity and benefit. This Mexican project is cheap, feasable but in the end hardly moves the needle for anyone.

As a Canadian I am ashamed at the fact that we will be the only G7 country that's not invested or attempted to build high speed rail. America is building her high speed rail line connected Las Vegas to Los Angeles. it's becoming a joke here since most of political and business leaders seem stuck in the 80s and 90s with their mentality. As a travel AND train enthusiast I'd rather be in Florida taking the Brightline, France taking the TGF, or China taking the Fuxing bullet train. You've massacred the language to the point where I am asking myself if you do it on purpose. As a fact, the Tunnel Elements are only being built in a Special Factory in Denmark and it is a Danish and - EU Financed Tunnel, as the Germans could't afford to participate!! So the eventual Profit will only be Danish! The Germans will be paid for making traffic improvements on Fehmarn, like a new bridge, road and rails for the improved traffic. Actually Groups in Germany fought legally to the very last, to prevent the built of the tunnel!! But a tunnel will give a much more constant and "silent" flow of the traffic than a landing ferry, off loading the full, several decks ferry-load of cars! And the last element on land in Denmark has just been placed, so that the coming elements are to be sailed out and connected below the water for the final built. By that they could - continue and built and sail Tunnel Elements up to make a new Tunnel between Helsingør (Elsinore) and Helsingborg, in Sweden also, when they have finished building the Tunnel to Fehmarn, if smart! With a functioning Factory and Harbor it will be a fraction of the cost to built one up north!

8:20 "No plans to make the tunnel passable on foot" you state. I think that something may well have been lost in translation here. Common sense dictates that at the absolute minimum there will have to be some sort of emergency ingress, access and egress system in the tunnel. Can't see it being a walkway as a road would take up little more room in this mile long marvel. I imagine that the intention was to say that there are no plans to provide a publicly accessible path or road through the tunnel ( but of course there'll be provision of an emergency one). This smacks of the Panama Canal, too. It can't fail to be a success so how long before more mountain carving to provide two tunnels to stop the flow restriction occasioned by the present hour on/hour off passage of ship traffic? Can't wait to see it.
