My friends mom got proposed to when she wasn’t ready, it was public to, the guy did stand up so he did it at a pub during a show. She got down to eye level with him while smiling, put her hand on his cheek and said “I love you so much, but I’m just not ready yet.” Grabbed his hand, kissed him and got off stage. Late to the party but I have to add my two cents here. When my boyfriend proposed, he thought about ME and what he believe I would want in a proposal. I am a very private, quiet person who doesn't like big crowds or generally being around other people lol so he proposed in Sherwood Forest on our second anniversary. We were completely alone out for a walk, in my favourite place with a ton of memories with my recently departed Grandad and it was perfect. If he had pulled something like proposing in public on TV or on stage or whatever, I would ABSOLUTELY have said no and ran off. I'd have been so embarrassed and felt so uncomfortable!
