Automatic for the People is the eighth studio album by American alternative rock band R.E.M., released on October 5, 1992 by Warner Bros. Records. R.E.M. began production on the album while their previous album, Out of Time (1991), was still ascending top albums charts and achieving global success. Aided by string arrangements from John Paul Jones, Automatic for the People features ruminations on mortality, loss, mourning and nostalgia. - Zábava
Night swimming...what a treasure. Whole album was a piece of art! A bit of a sad undertone. I think of mild Summer nights, chats while sitting on a porch or lawn chairs, drinking lemonade from a plastic reusable colored glass! Times now gone, but still with me.

Nightswimming is up there with my faves. AFTP came out & we were newlyweds. I slowly but surely got hubby away from Pink Floyd 🙄 and into my music. 😂

I was like "What!?" When he said he was 64! 'It's the End of the World As We Know It' is my all-time favorite song. I remember when the video came out, the cute guy with the dog and skateboard in the broken-down house and dancing around. I love your videos! You bring so many good memories back to me. : )

I honest-to-god found that place after taking a wrong turn about 15 years ago visiting my sister at UGa. It was a "holy shit" moment.
Also toured a hot-rod Mustang place on the way in to town and later got a handy at an Asian massage parlor near campus, but both those are different stories.

REM is one of my favorite groups. I was born late sixties and my teen years were in the eighties. The eighties were the last decade for good music as far as I'm concerned. I love the music from eighties on back through the 70s and 60s still listen to a lot of eighties music here in 2019. Thanks for this video. The food you ate reminds me of my family holiday's and gatherings. My husband was a white guy and loved soul food. He loved our family gatherings. Looking forward to your next video.

I was in Massachusetts a couple of weeks ago at a park and I actually saw a man wearing a weaver d automatic for the people t shirt not r.e.m. shirt just weaver d and me being a huge rem fan I said to him yeah weaver d ,s automatic in Athens...he was shocked that I knew that he asked if I've ever been and I said no but I wish being a huge rem fan we talked for a few seconds and went our ways I was lucky enough to meet Peter buck a few years ago at a little club in Cambridge mass
That was very cool seeing Weaver D's aka "Automatic For The People," Scott ! I hadn't seen that before. I got hungry just lookin' at the video ! ha ha ha! Love R.E.M. ! and that album is a classic. It's still in my collection today.

I’m 50 & grew up in Rome GA. We used to go party in Athens when R.E.M. was cutting their teeth. After Murmer you kinda knew they were on their way. Good video & thanks for sharing
