  • Today, we are making a homemade whipped body butter for eczema and dry skin that is made with simple and natural ingredients and no beeswax.
    I have been making my own natural body butter for my eczema for several years now and it has helped dramatically in reducing my symptoms of eczema. This body butter is made with all natural oils, shea butter and herbs that reduce inflammation and itchiness associated with eczema and provides long lasting hydration for the skin.
    Mountain Rose Herbs: aspireiq.go2cloud.org/SH4ph
    I love using herbs and oils from Mountain Rose Herbs and you can find the products I used listed above on their website by typing the product in the search bar.
    DoTERRA Essential Oils: referral.doterra.me/15217099
    RECIPE:
    1/2 cup shea butter (~70 grams)
    1/2 cup sunflower oil (~100 grams)
    1/4 cup coconut oil (~30 grams)
    1/4 cup plantain leaf
    1/4 cup lavender
    1/4 cup calendula
    1 tsp vitamin E oil
    10 drops peppermint essential oil
    30 drops patchouli essential oil
    *can switch the essential oils with your favorite one
    *can omit coconut oil if your skin is sensitive to it
    Using a double boiler, set heat to medium and melt the shea butter and coconut oil with the sunflower oil. Once almost all the way melted, reduce heat to low and add in the herbs. Heat on low for 30-45 minutes.
    Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Strain out the herbs. Add in vitamin E oil and essential oils. Place in freezer for 20-25 minutes to continue cooling.
    Blend with a hand mixer for a 1-2 minutes until the mixture becomes more creamy and opaque in color. If still pretty liquidy, place in freezer for an additional 10 minutes. Then blend for 3-5 minutes until buttery smooth and fluffy, scraping the sides of the bowl/container. Store in an airtight container.

    Hi, doctor. I got diagnosed with eczema and I haven't and wouldn't want to use any hydrocortisone cream because I know there's something called Topical Steroid Withdrawal. However, I couldn't find any videos about healing eczema naturally except for yours. I hope mine goes away without having to use any hydrocortisone cream and god bless you for your sharing of wisdom.

    Im going to make this. The herbs from the mountain herbs was a bit pricey. I ended up ordering from Amazon the organic herbs. Cant wait to make this. I need some serious itchy relief from hives 😩

    I think I would rather eat the cream rather then rub it on my body. Lol. It looks delicious. Thank you for sharing this video, I’ll give it a try.

    Could we just infuse the sunflower oil and strain instead of heating it?

    These little jars of whipped body butter would make great gifts!! I’m assuming they would be beneficial for dry skin, even if you don’t have eczema or any itchiness?

    • @DrSarahWright
      @DrSarahWright  Před rokem

      Yes, they are amazing for nourishing dry skin! And to make it easier you can leave out their herbs if desired (if you don't have the goal of treating eczema or itchiness).

    A lot of my local homemade creams have beeswax - is that an irritant to eczema? Always thought it was helpful for it? (You mentioned your formula is beeswax free) now I am curious! 👀

    • @DrSarahWright
      @DrSarahWright  Před rokem +1

      Hello there! No, beeswax is not typically irritating for eczema (and yes it does have some benefits for the skin). On my last eczema body butter recipe I had a few people ask about a beeswax alternative and so I wanted to make a recipe without it. Vegans avoid beeswax or someone could have an allergy to it as well. It has never been an issue for me and I think I actually prefer the consistency with beeswax. You can still add 1/4 cup of beeswax to this recipe if desired.

    Dear Dr Sarah, I am one of your listeners from 8 months ago when i have had 'severe eczema'.
    Unfortunately it's not what exactly happened. I got 'Topical Steroid Addiction' actually, due to my prolonged use of corticosteroid medications.
    I believe you understand 'this term' inside out and how to deal with it correctly.
    Accordingly i hope you can share your knowledge and experiences about this disease, consider millions people who suffers 'eczema' actually they aren't.
    They just misdiagnosed eczema, they just victims of extremely harmful medications.
    I'm really hope you can share this issue so that you can help million people out there suffering this 'misdiagoned eczema' which put them into depression even suicidal.
    God bless you doctor.

    Hi, can we do without the plantain leaf? Is banana leaf the same?

    • @aalexander243
      @aalexander243 Před měsícem

      The plantain she is using is not the banana-like plantain but rather the common “weed” plantain which has wonderful healing and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s often found in lawns and along the edges of gravel parking lots…just be sure it’s not sprayed. You will need to dry it first.

      It's all natural! Why wouldn't it be safe?

    • @kaylacollins8630
      @kaylacollins8630 Před rokem

      Some all natural things aren’t safe while nursing and little ones. Some essential oils aren’t safe for these groups. Not sure if the calendula and other things are safe as well.

    • @DrSarahWright
      @DrSarahWright  Před rokem +2

      Hi Kayla! Yes, all the ingredients mentioned in the video are safe to use *topically* while nursing and for toddlers. However, calendula is part of the _Asteraceae_ family, so if you have an allergy to daisies or dandelions for example you might be sensitive to calendula as well. Also, taking calendula *internally* is contraindicated during pregnancy.

      Research plantain. It is a common garden “weed”. Just make sure it’s not on a sprayed lawn.

    What makes this cream anti itch?

    • @DrSarahWright
      @DrSarahWright  Před rokem +3

      All the ingredients indirectly help with reducing itch but Plantain leaf specifically has anti-itch properties (antipruritic and anti-histamine) as well as the peppermint essential oil.
