We are gradually settiling into the holiday and starting to relax, there have been a few issues which have been annoying but thankfully we have plenty of time to get into the groove.
I hope you enjoy this litle look at our holiday so far.

Really enjoying your travel vlogs Helen and appreciate your efforts, it can’t be easy with the internet issues etc. loving seeing your outfits and enjoying and respect your honesty about your experiences. It’s certainly confirmed cruising is not for me because of all the negatives you’ve mentioned.
The amount of people,queuing and dirty places and more importantly crap internet and constantly having to dress up😆
I’ve never been to any of those places so I’m finding it very interesting to see in your video. I love hearing about your experiences and stories. You look amazing. I know it’s important to you to get things in an orderly fashion, but I’m just happy to watch them in any order. Your pink dress is stunning. Have a lovely evening🌷🌸🌷

Loving all the outfits Helen. Agree totally with you about the queues and lack of organisation on the cruises. Like you say they must know the times that the crowds (people on cruise excursions) are going/returning and it therefore isn't hard to advise other cruisers of this and that would be more delays if they want to go then etc. And as you say just tell people instead of just leaving them in long waits. Also agree with the nickle and diming of things. Like you say if you don't worry about potential ripoffs then people are more trusting and like you say more willing to spend on some extras without feeling put upon. Is a pity as all of this does affect your holiday and after all a cruise is meant to be where you totally relax. I know there will always be some obnoxious and over demanding people as well that the cruise staff have to deal with but the majority of people aren't like that (hopefully) but making people wait excessively in the humidity and heat does not bode well for tempers! I also feel for the staff who would be getting the complaints about this when it is most likely others who are more to blame than them. Anyway enjoying these updates and overall often the good outways the bad episodes.
Looking great in all your outfits Helen . The worst ever cruise we went on for greed was the Royal Caribbean we paid gratuities before we went which was hundreds more and every day they had their hands out and more envelopes on the bed every day from room steward and we even had to queue for tickets for the shows for over an hour , the bigger the ship the worse it is , Never known this with Cunard though , But covid changed a lot of things for cruising for the worst ! Think you would be better suited to the smaller more select cruise ship like sliversea , Regent etc its a lot better getting on and off , we dont use the cruise trips we use an independant guaranteed to be back on time . A lot for these places are so bad with poverty outside resorts like Jamaica etc sounds great however underneath the tourist umbrella it is a bit if a disappointment . However enjoy the rest of your trip xxxx

Confirms that I never want to go on a cruise 😂….I’d rather tour a country with a small group and a guide and see the real place not tourist hotspots only. We spent 3 weeks touring Vietnam in august and it was AMAZING! Such lovely people. Enjoy the rest of the trip

We didn’t find QE as friendly and happy as QV. we still loved it but it didn’t for us have the warmth and friendliness of Queen Victoria. Enjoy every second xx
You look lovely in that pink dress. My dream dress for holidays is a white broderie anglaise, midi length with short sleeves. I have ordered at least half a dozen dresses that seem to fit the bill but as yet I haven't found "the one" I think from what I have heard and seen about cruises they all penny pinch these days sadly, even charging for water on most ships! It isn't a holiday I have ever really waned to take I must admit, although there are some small sail boats that cruise around the Greek Islands that sound amazing, and if I ever manage to save enough for one of those trips I will definitely try them out. It's nice to have your updates and to hear more about how cruises actually work x

Hi Helen, we did one cruise and it was our last I’m afraid to say. Sadly, not for me. Expensive, a little ‘showy’ and touristy, just my opinion of course as cruises are very popular. Personally I prefer to visit a country and take time to see it properly, spend time with the locals and see what local life is all about. I’m glad to say that since then we have done exactly that and in many countries. Support the local people rather than the huge tourist companies. Saying that I love your honesty and the photos you share with us. Thank you 😊

I have cruised and I agree that constructive criticism is useful feedback. When you know that the cruise line has done countless embarkations/disembarkations it is disappointing when they get it wrong. I agree again that communication is so important. You are not a moaning mini 😉
Thankyou for vlogging when you are on holiday. Yes the Internet is bad on all the 3 queens. Those queues are not a new thing they have always been like it. We were going this year after the covid but the queues have put us off. They used to come around with water and cold flannels when waiting outside in hot countries. They weren’t like it 20 years or more ago. Entertainment always good and the staff wonderful. With the exception of the pursers 🥴. I sound like a right old moaner we have had some wonderful holidays round the world with them, but I can relate to everything that you say because it is all true. Cape Town after a long cruise to oz New Zealand etc about 1.000 passengers just dumped in a tent with our luggage no one from Cunard showing us where we should go etc. but we have had great holidays with them I hope you have a lovely holiday and all your clothes are great your leopard jacket looks lovely and your silver top with the black dress. Enjoy it all

Great vlog Helen…..don’t worry it’s like magic, we women of a certain age can all keep up! You looked lovely in the pink dress… It’s a bit hard work cruising sometimes, especially on the big ships but you will look back on all the great experiences and the irritations fade away quickly. Enjoy and make sure you and Rob keep finding the laughs/giggles xxxx🎉😂
In Vietnam we were told to just walk across the roads and they would miss you, which luckily they did 😊. We did more or less the same cruise as you plus 10 days in China to begin and three days in Singapore before we flew home, just over a month altogether with Princess Cruises, amazing cruise no problems at all, loved every minute 😊. That was about seven years ago now, and when we went to the Caribbean just before Covid struck we did notice that the Caribbean islands were all looking worse for wear and were nothing like our very first cruise to the Caribbean 26 years ago, I think everywhere is suffering at the moment and cruise lines are trying to claw back the money they lost during covid so things are stretched, think you would have noticed a marked difference if you had completed the same cruise before Covid 😢

Hi my darling Helen, sounds like your Vietnam experience was underwhelming ... my friends and I did a 9 day INTREPID trip from Hanoi to Ho Chi Min and it was WONDERFUL ... a guided small tour, only 13 of us in an air conditioned minibus... no tenders or ports, we saw so much and stayed at 3* properties, which were really lovely, own bathrooms and very clean, some looked 4* .. we had no problems with accommodations, and saw the real vietnam with guides who were fabulolus, even had a 1 night stay on a beautiful "JUNK" which took us to Halong Bay overnight , this boat was so lovely and comfortable, I think you would have approved. HOY ANN was beautiful, very french ... as well as all other stopovers...I urge you to do this 'land' tour ... although you are so far away... I'm in Australia, so you may not want to travel so far. If you are ever in SE Asia.. do the Intrepid tour, from Ho Chi Min, or alternatively .. as we did it from Hanoi (my favourite city in Vietnam, Beautiful) you can do it either way ... you're experience of Vietnam was so bad, which saddens me so much ... if you did a land tour, you would love it..the people, the history ... There are possibly more premier tours, but with interpid... you get the real thing, with very knowlegable guide - authentic, and comfortable accommodations .. no I am not a an Intrepit person, but a retired Qantas straff member who chose the right tour, recommended by all my experienced ex and current employees ... really hope you are in this region again, as it would give you a completely different experience of Vietnam.

In all the years we’ve cruised on Cunard we’ve never once thought of calling it Queuenard…love it! Yes unfortunately queueing has always been a problem that we came to expect from time to time.
Ps…hope you both manage to dodge the ‘Cunard Cough’..since covid we’re now reluctant to cruise again unfortunately xx

Thanks so much for your honest take on the cruise, it does seem to me over the years these cruises haven’t got it quite right in certain areas, but as you say the little niggles are so out wanted by the beautiful countries and excitement of the journey. Thanks for sharing the good and the bad. You aren’t moaning just being honest which we truly appreciate. You look fabulous as usual, outfits and jewellery are gorgeous. Do you think you could show us your cabin properly ? How about wardrobe space and drawers ? Is there enough room to hang / store clothes properly ? We’ve had problems with that on various cruises. Also had similar queuing problems and felt many excursions were overpriced, although we did go on them as wanted to see sights. Hope you enjoy the rest of your cruise but would encourage you to speak to the manager with any complaints and not be fobbed off by a receptionist. Thanks Helen for all your videos which we love.
The leopard jacket is fabulous - especially with the red lippie! Sorry about the problems, but I don't think I've ever heard of a cruise that didn't have these same annoyances when docking and going into the towns. Hopefully the days at sea will be a little more relaxing.

Unfortunately Good Service nowadays seems to have been forgotten and nobody appears to be in charge therefore communication is missing but logically essential for the smooth running of things - especially a ‘LUXURY’ Class Cruise - as you say, it’s not rocket science but good training…. Please feel free to include that in your eMail 😶
Just quickly, if you have floor to ceiling windows/glass doors, you could stand a little way away and film your reflection (if it is dark outside or course!) then we can see your whole outfit.

Interesting review thanks. We have cruised Cunard many times and couldn’t agree more. Nickel and dimming at every opportunity. Agree with you, if they lowered the prices on trips and on-board shops etc., more people would be inclined to spend. Overall, the same revenue for them and many more happy cruisers.
Helen thanks again for the travel updates and the very helpful insight into what it is like to be on a cruise. I've always wanted to go on one but my husband is less keen.

Hi Helen, I do remember this dress. The colour is perfect for you, even competing with blue, your fav. colour. The jewellery is a perfect match. As I have never been on a cruise anywhere, I think your imput is most enlightening. So many thanks for anything you are able to send. And quite honestly, not wishing to embarrass you, I miss your normal blogs and I want to know what, from all your efforts, you did wear and what was successful.

Yes hate that they want to charge extra for so many things on the cruises lately, it's almost like they are saying our standard things aren't good enough pay a bit more and you can have better, it should be the best for everyone. Enjoying your days in Vietnam, my brother served there and I cant imagine all these years later that it would be a tourist stop. Pink dress looked great and sadly the wait , if you don’t sign for a trip - glad you got to the coast finally and market place, you look like you are enjoying the surf!!! You could try room service to avoid crowds at breakfast. I always have room service breakfast. I think travel agents could be more forthcoming about the extra charges you can expect to pay so people can be pre warned. Enjoying the outfits and the photos of your ports.

Hi Helen. Thanks for the updates. W3 have found the Wi-Fi almost always has issues on cruise holidays all your points on queues and extra payments are spot on. On a brighter note your beach snaps were great you made me laugh having sand in your bikini after being tumbled trying to get out of the sea! Another lovely outfit x

It has been really interesting seeing your updates. I've never been on a cruise, partly because I have heard so many stories about excessive queuing, shambolic organisation, too many people all trying to do the same thing at the exact same time, paying through the nose for extras etc etc - all the things you are talking about, basically. I have concluded it is probably not my thing, but I really hope it improves for you. It's a lot of money to spend to feel so disappointed, especially after anticipating the holiday of a lifetime! I always had Cunard down as the most prestigious cruise company and maybe your on board experiences are very good but almost 100 dollars each to go ashore seems like a real ripoff to me. You are looking very glam' in all your outfits and the hauls in the hall are proving a great success. As always thanks for sharing. x
I Honestly thought it was a Marilyn Monroe video when I saw you in the waves...you look Fabulous. You hv lost weight carrying those cases! You know, Time is Money, so making everyone wait is a disgrace when you pay a lot of money for a Luxury Cruise. Thank you for always being so honest. You good great the outfits are so flattering on you..Helen when you pay big money for a trip I would expect the best in everything .Everything that can and could go wrong should already be planned for in advance by those promoting and managing these trips in my humble opinion..
We felt exactly the same about Cunard and the ‘nickel and dime’ add ons - it’s a very American ethos. Cunard ‘sell’ themselves on their British heritage and old world charm etc, but it’s all sold in US dollars and ‘service charge’ is added on and … and… and… we found it infuriating to be honest.
I saw your later video where the dressing up had ‘worn off’ a bit and that was us too - I think Cunard need a bit of a revamp to be honest. It felt both stuffy and formal and all about the money at the same time.

Waiting in line drives me insane so I’d not do well if all cruises are like that. It seems most things are much more complicated than they used to be but there are millions more people in the world than then I guess. I wonder if you “sprained an ankle” if you’d get through lines faster? They must have wheelchairs , you’d get to sit at least. 😂🙋🏼♀️
Thanks Helen for filming. Internet is a pain in the a** on cruise ships. Photos are great. Love this pink dress on you. With the nickel and dimeing on the ship. I felt that way at a hotel. Environment tax, 20% surtax, garbage disposal tax. Etc....

A number of years ago I went on a few cruises with a smaller company on a smaller ship and had a wonderful time, no queues, reasonable prices and it wasn't all about making money. Then I went on another cruise with a Big well known company on a huge ship and I had then same experience as you're having, lack of organization, queues and it was all about what they could charge you for. If I was ever fortunate enough to go on another cruise I would definitely choose a smaller company. Hope you both enjoy the rest of your cruise xx

I always think sailing into Southampton dock is not a pretty sight 🥴 I find the smaller ships like Fred Olson are sometimes better as they can sail into port and dock on the quay so you step on and off the ship. No queuing 👍👍 you're looking fabulous in your outfits and your jewellery looks good too. ❤ x
I know it’s difficult on the large cruise ships I will only go on 500/600 passenger cruises because of the difficulties with so many people, your doing a great job with the challenges with internet 🤪😘

You do make me laugh with your Ursula Andress comment and Queuenard! However sorry to hear it’s sometimes not living up to your expectations as I’m sure it wasn’t an inexpensive holiday. The humidity can make to heat oppressive too. I’m sure your on board days will be cooler.
Oh dear I hate the thought of all that queueing ,....Cunard tv adverts certainly don't hint at that. We are off on a cruise soon, although not a Cunard one. Just hope it will be ok . I hope you are managing to enjoy other parts of your holiday. You are looking really fabulous in all your lovely outfits.

I completely understand your frustration and disappointment with the service you’re receiving especially after spending so much money on your holiday. My husband and I had a similar experience a few years ago in Botswana and thinking about it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth and took some of the shine off our holiday memories. Excursions by the cruise lines are always extortion, I find, hence why we often do them privately, with a caveat to know for certain that we will be back on board in time as would never want to be that pier runner 😱 maybe you could collate your content as you go and do 1 larger video when you off the ship ? That way you can relax and have a good time . Continue to be blessed and enjoy . Happy jollies 😎
When one pays for a luxury cruise, one expects services to match. Hope the rest of the trip goes smoothly.
The pandemic hit the cruise lines very hard & many of their long term employees got other jobs while they were shut down. All the cruise ships are short staffed still and training people up seems to be at the bottom of their agenda. They should be doing better because they are upsetting many of their regular customers - it’s not just Queuenard, it’s all of them. I still love cruising but the price and excursion prices mean that this year will be the last😢

It ends up in the ocean and it’s horrible for the planet. The money could be used to combat climate change and pollution. Just my two cents. Thank you!

Oh Helen! I’m so sorry your cruise is frustrating you but I do hope you will focus on the lovely aspects rather than the disappointing ones. The humidity and heat really saps your energy and you just long to get back to an air conditioned room don’t you? Try to relax and just take things as they come.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful images of the places you visit. I have never known trips to bring passengers back to the ship to arrive at the same time, they usually stagger start and finishes so the ship can cope with a steady flow, seems very odd. But I know what you mean about charges for things that would have been included in the past, they just want to squeeze as much money out of you. Enjoy the rest of the cruise, you both look lovely x

Helen, I've travelled the world with my job...my best advice would be 'avoid eye contact'. Sounds crass and not very inclusive but it works. You are not a moaning minny, I fully understand how frustrating it is, first world problems and all that! You will look back and both of you will laugh at the ridiculous things that happened... they are your memories.Enjoy and try not to let the irritations and there will be many more upset you. You both look fabulous.
