Helen the brown dress is so smart looking on you. You're very handy with a needle 🪡 you could easily put a few darts in the 18 dress. Such a lovely unusual colour and you suited it. I thought the tee looked great with the blue dress. Almost the same colour. Oh you're so right about how things can happen so quickly. Nine years ago we lost a brother in law, my hubby's sister and then my other brother in law all in the space of 8 months! Yes they were not young and were all ill but we certainly didn't expect them all to go so close together. 😢 So we just never know and it's important to try and enjoy each day as it comes. Re Rob and the ironing, I think men get quite a shock when they retire and realise what it takes to keep everything ticking over in the home! Doesn't do them any harm!! 😅 Have a good week. 🎉

As a retired Colour Analyst i can answer your question about a tan Helen. You sister is correct. A tan ,natural or otherwise is an additional to your "natural " look. With a tan the colour will match the tan,not you naturally. Keep in mind everyone tans differently. Some more golden brown others redfish. Some people don't tan at all. I wish your sister all the very best in her new venture. Colour Analysis was very good to me. I met and taught some fabulous people. Did television, radio, charities. All in the name of Colour. As you said at the beginning of this video. My chronic illness took almost everything away almost overnight. Live every moment. ❤🇨🇮♥️

What you say is so true. My husband is 75. Just before he retired he was struck down by a rare neurological disease, P.S.P. He is now housebound, as am I as his main carer. I am lucky to have the support of a great family. Don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today. Life is to short. ❤

I took a deep breath and ordered the white muslin type cotton dress with the pleats round the waistline. It looked so slimming on you and was a bit different. It arrived today and I love it but would never have ordered it if I hadn't seen it on you. I have also ordered the Next cotton slips which I'm hoping will be a nice change from Marks slips. All thanks to you.

I don’t think the 16 white dress was too big. It was a classy dress ideal for Caribbean with loose sleeves. If it were me I’d keep it. So figure flattering as well.

Hi Helen, really liked all the dresses in todays haul in your hall, particularly liked the gingham one looked lovely and fresh, honestly I thought the denim dress looked lovely on you but as you say you have to feel comfortable in it but to me observing there is absolutely nothing wrong with your arms, but then again I always think my belly is my problem and feel pretty conscious of that, but I’m trying to embrace my shape because it’s the only one I’ll have and at 67 I should be grateful for my health and whole lot of other things (and really I am) - so there ya go 👍🏻. My favourite dress 👗 is the denim one because it is different from all your usual dresses…
I would wear an open white linen shirt overtop of the dress…
I do that all the time with dresses that have no sleeves as I hate my arms too…
When you were talking about you never know, it really hit home for me as my daughter lost her husband this past January in an auto accident..
He had just turned 45 two days before, he left behind a 16 year old son and a 14 year old daughter…
My 41 year old daughter is now a widow and she is having a very hard time right now…😢😢

You look so beautiful Helen. I’m 63 and I wear a 1x or a 2x.. I finally got tired of criticizing myself all of the time about my appearance. I have good skin and I look pretty good for my age. Would I look better as a size 12!!? Probably…, but I am a foodie and really hate starving!! I’m finally accepting myself after all of these years! It’s really quite liberating!!! I just want to say I think you are a beautiful woman. I wish my husband wanted to travel, but he doesn’t like to go anywhere! I do think that M and S have knocked it out of the park with their dresses this year. Something for everyone I think. I loved the brown dress, so classy and yet could be dressed up or down. Personally I wasn’t so fond of the gingham (reminded me of primary school dresses). Just my opinion but that white dress in the 16 looked fab on you.

Helen, loved the 16 brown dress. Get over worrying that your arms aren’t good enough- from an Australian perspective I thought the denim looked pretty fabulous though personally I’d be taking a few inches off it and pairing with wedge heeled summery sandals. The only ironing done in my household of one would be the occasional linen tablecloth.

❤you look great in virtually every outfit you try Helen which must make things difficult deciding what to return. Not compromising on anything is a good way to go, otherwise we end up not wearing them!
I thought the pink gingham was particularly nice but perhaps you feel its too late in the Season, had you bought it in May perhaps would have got more wear from it.
You are spot on about enjoying life while you can. It is difficult to achieve the balance sometimes as we dont know whether to retire early but then again we must prioritise our health!
Let your loved ones know how much they mean to you every time they see you.
Ive lost everyone close to me and there are always regrets.
Taken early retirement but its difficult not to feel guilty. It can inspire envy from others and ive had to let a few 'friends ' go😮

I ordered the M and S white dress after seeing it on you and agree, it is rather blousy. But I tried shoulder pads… game changer! They made such a difference as did a tiny tuck down the centre. Worth a try. I know you shouldn’t have to as it is very expensive but also sooooo pretty and light to wear.

I’m 57 tomorrow and was feeling a bit low as I feel so old due to ill health. BUT you are absolutely right, I’m lucky to have reached this age as many don’t. I am grateful and will make a better effort to be grateful for every day and every memory I make. I would rather go out with a bang rather than whining over the trials of life and end with a whimper. So thank you oh wise woman in your hall 🤭

Isn’t it amazing how getting the correct fit for you transforms an outfit. The dress you tried (cotton,tie dye pattern) in a 16 I really didn’t like I thought the seam around the bust was in the wrong place and it looked shapeless then you put on the18 and low and behold it looked completely different it had shape and form and really suited you. I thought all the dresses looked good. Mind you Helen you do look good in most dresses you try. I ,for one, sadly, am not buying any more dresses this year as I have hardly worn one this year. But I do like looking,so thanks xx

Good luck with the returns Helen…..I returned 8 items, via automated system in store. Marks credited them all, and promptly sent them all back to me! Fortunately I am honest, returned them all, they credited again and sent 3 items back to me. You can imagine me trying to explain all this in store. Impossible!
Popped into Next, scanned each item to be returned, followed instruction to put in a lettered bin…hey presto, all done in 15 minutes.
In my humble opinion if Marks don’t centralise their system they will find themselves making huge losses.

I know what you mean about showing your arms and share your pain but I’ve decided to find ways to wear them. Favourite for me is to wear a fine white linen shirt over the top, sleeves rolled up and tied at the front . Great dress selection from M&S thank you ❤

I also felt the white dolman sleeve was lovely on you, Felt like the fit was appropriate for that style, like it was mentioned a dart would take care of the access. I also did not feel the T-shirt under the denim dress was a compromise at all! With the fringed thread around sleeves, it was very complimentary and looked great for your next family camping holiday.

Hi Helen. Firstly, many congratulations on reaching 21k subscribers and I sincerely hope the number increases as it’s so well deserved.Well done to Rob for taking on the ironing- a hateful task! My husband doesn’t iron but he does do all the cooking so I can’t complain! I do love the style of dresses you show us and they are so flattering . I’m a particular fan of the longer length as I am around 5ft 7ins but that’s where M&S are great as they do offer the 3 different lengths in most of their trousers and dresses.I do like the white dress but I think it’s the unusual sleeves that make the top part seem too wide. A lovely haul !💖🌸

HB. Very good re the ironing - my husband, after many years - decided he would do ours and it’s wonderful! I notice most comments say they like the gingham dress, but to me it’s Milly Molly Mandy though you are probably too young to have read those books! All the other dresses looked great. I love the first dress. It looks fresh and the style really suits you. I’m only 5 feet tall and unless I buy petite sizes the normal lengths can drown me and my days of wearing high heels are over 😂😂😂 I think they should make in between sizes. Like the chocolate coloured dress you found the 16 didn’t fit the way you wanted it but the size 18 looked far too big. Now if they made a size 17 you wouldn’t have a problem. 😂I 😂 Also like the denim dress. Really look forward to your videos and I think your sense of humour is amazing ❤

Lovely dresses. I don’t like my arms either and I know what you mean about a sleeveless with a T shirt underneath. It can make you feel hot too. I liked the black and white blurry outline dress (tie die look) best. You give me inspiration with clothing as I am forever the ”yo-yo” dieter. Make the most of NOW. Great advice. Don’t wait till you are a certain weight, don’t put off the extra cuddle, or times together with loved ones because as you say who knows what is round the corner. Thanks Helen x

Lovely dresses. You looked nice in them all. I was in Mark's &Spencer's on Saturday food shopping for my Mum. Had a quick look in the sale and got a broderie anglaise shirt reduced from £39.50 to £19.
A quick look is always fatal! haha. Fab bargain xx

I am 42 and i lost my two best friend's two years ago within six months of each other one was 37 and one was 50. Although it was horrific at the time it has taught me so much about cherishing the little things and living in the moment.

I have had that thought here and there myself - wonder if it is what we see and absorb around us - however, always a good thing to appreciate those around you! No, you are not maudlin, but we humans are generally less than comfortable in ‘lasts’ - makes sense to protect ourselves.
Maybe let our people (and people in general) know how good they are when they do something we like and appreciate, or that we appreciate them just for nothing in particular. Especially strangers we might meet with a smile or friendly nod, or a kind word.
YES! That white M&S dress from the previous video (in size 16) is a keeper - thinking it was hard to get used to the sleeve type, and you could not see it while wearing? In any case, it is so chic, classic and cool. You would love having it as a wardrobe summer staple. Gives you an hourglass figure, as sewn in darts nip in your waist. Good on you for doing the research with the 14, though! You never know until you try.
Please do keep the first black and creamy white cotton dress - looks great on you, and as a classic will stand the test of time!

I'm so glad so many people commented last time on how lovely the white dress M&S dress is. I think it looked fabulous on you. Have you watch it on the screen? The first thing I noticed was how flattering the body section was. It stands out from the rest of the dress and highlights your figure and then the sleeves are a bonus. Very unusual. So stylish. The brown was very nice. Shame about the sizing. Keep the white dress. xx

That was a lovely haul, M&S have upped their game this year. Please stop worrying abour your arms, for the first time in years I decided to get my arms out. I keep them moisturised and add a bit of fake tan and nobody has fainted at the sight of my old arms 😂 To be honest I don't think anyone notices things as much as we do. ❤

Hi, another lovely try on, Helen. My very favourite was the "zig zag tie-dye" dress - it fitted you beautifully and it would be such a useful comfortable dress. You did look lovely in the blue denim too, but not if you are not happy with the sleeveless look.
