My friend made me go to a Prince concert back in the day. I didn't really want to. Did not know his music and thought he was funny looking. I went and did not sit down the whole concert. Left thinking he was the sexiest man alive. What a performer!

This song is 100% one of my favorites Prince songs. It was part of the soundtrack of my childhood. 80s Prince just ruled the airwaves.
When we go into a store though the wrong door, I always say, "She walked in though the out door, out door." Love that line! Also, the 16 year old girl in me still swoons over this beautiful man! So glad I got to be a teenager in the 80s :)

It's hard to choose a favorite Prince song, but this has to be it for me. His voice is beautiful, the music is groovin, and the video is genius. Also, he looks so happy here. RIP Sweet Prince.

Prince was always trying to do something crazy or funny . He fake coughed because it was a crazy time to be coughing before you have to sing. In the video for "you got the look" when everyone was entering the stage and he was last watch how he yawns like he's tired or bored. Just Prince being Prince
You can hear the Beatles in this era of Prince, I think starting with the Purple Rain soundtrack, which had a very psychedelic sound. I think they called this Neo-psychedelic pop in the 80s, but it was heavily inspired by 1966-67 period where the Beatles were experimenting with a lot of orchestras, keyboards and general psychedelia. The intro of this song screams psychedelic rock from that period. Sadly, Prince basically made one album in this genre, before moving on to standard 80s pop, then hip hop, and R&B, followed by old school funk.
Or rather psychedelia of the late 60's in general. Prince was unique in many respects but to pick one, if necessary, he had the discipline to write and perform short pop songs.
"Old man Johnson" is an in-joke about Jesse Johnson, the former guitarist in The Time. The group had broken up and Jesse had released his solo debut album in 1985, the same year Prince's single came out. A few of The Time members became another band (with others) called The Family. The Family released the original version of "Nothing Compares 2 U", but their version was not a single, just an album track. Th Family had a R&B hit called "Screams Of Passion".
Jayy, this video is a prime example! For us Prince Fans … when his music came on in the Clubs, we knew the exact dance moves to the Purple Rain songs and all his videos.
This was one of the few Prince songs I was allowed to listen to. I literally until this day had no idea idea what it was called. I think “brass miracle man” was what I always thought he was saying. 😂😂😂😂

You should listen to ‘Somewhere Here on Earth” or “Te Amo Corazón” by Prince. They are both great songs that I think you’ll like.

Here's a trivia bit for you: If you look at the album cover, there is a man in Prince's "cloud" suit, but he's blond. Turns out, Prince tried to bleach his hair and it didn't work well at all. In this video, he's wearing a wig. But the artwork was already done, so the "cloud" suit person has blond hair in the cover art. Thanks for another Prince reaction!
